Players and their characters clockwise from top left: Commander Firebrand as Jeminya, Dr Wolf as Oin, Lunacorva as Ravvas, Lightning Bliss as Amber, Sweetie Bloom as Rose, Eliyora as Faerthurin, Voice of Reason as Jalerom, and Finn the Pony as Ivan. Old image had ToonKriticY2K as Kross between Oin and Amber.
Brony D&D is a series of videos on YouTube showcasing several members of the Brony MLP Analysis community playing a game of Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition (3.5e, to be specific) created by Josh Scorcher, the Dungeon Master.

The first campaign, which released in 2017 and is called Welcome to the Show, is posted on DRWolf001's channel. Josh Scorcher is the Dungeon Master of the game as well as the player for the character of Jeminya and other Non-Player Characters. The other characters are played by Dr Wolf (channel host), Finn The Pony, Voice Of Reason, Sweetie Bloom, Lightning Bliss, Eliyora and Lunacorva. The campaign also once included a character played by ToonKriticY2K, who was written out from Episode 66 onwards due to certain events.

The setting is the fantasy realm of Alatastica where the playable characters find their way through many challenging encounters and conflicts both physical and emotional. There is Oin Lightbringer, a dwarven cleric, played by Dr Wolf; Ivan Windstrummer, a gnome bard played by Finn the Pony; Jalerom Tanlaial a half-elf rogue, played by Voice of Reason; Rose Emeraldsong, a human druid played by Sweetie Bloom; Amber Hawthorn, a dragonborn fighter played by Lightning Bliss; and Faerthurin, an elven sorcerer played by Eliyora. Kross Dalgo, a saurian ranger played by Toon Kritic, was originally part of the party, but due to certain real life events, Toon was banned from the project and Josh the Dungeon Master informed the audience that Kross would be written out of the story once all parts Toon took part in had been posted. In season 3, Ravvas Arkanen, a drow warblade/crusader played by Lunacorva, joins the party. The party also has three animal companions played in part by the Dungeon Master and the players they belong to. They are Lucid the raven, familiar to Faethurin; Shiloh the riding dog, companion to Rose; and Jaylen the golden viper, companion to Kross.

The playlist of the series so far can be found here. A collection of fan art for the series can be found here. Lunacorva has also created the characters in Dynasty Warriors, see here. (Beware spoilers for Jeminya and Simula.)

On July 5, 2017, a second campaign using the Curse of Strahd module has started airing on Josh's channel. It stars Silver Quill, KeychiFiM, GoldenFox, KeyframeProductions, BritishNinja, AeonOfDreams and William Grubb.

On March 4, 2018, a third campaign using the Tyranny of Dragons has started airing on Josh's channel. It stars Josh's brother, jerethbane, That Creepy Reading, Rabbid Luigi, LewToons, and Midnight Sonata.

The original campaign, Welcome to the Show, now has a recap page under construction.

Welcome to the Show contains examples of:

  • Action Girlfriend: Amber and Faerthurin both become this after Season 2.
  • Adaptational Wimp: Downplayed with the Gods. While they are EXTREMELY wise and powerful, they are still considered fallible and can even be deceived or outsmarted by mortals. This is in contrast to their portrayal in sourcebooks where their skills, power and intellect are so inconceivably above even the most capable mortal that you might as well just give them Caine's stats
  • Advancing Boss of Doom: The Balor in the labyrinth.
  • Adventurer Archaeologist: Subverted with the archeologist they meet in episode 43. While he has the appearance of one, he states that he does not have the skills or physique for adventuring.
  • Adventure Towns: The party often stops at these to rest between missions.
  • The Alcoholic: Vurdok Vineblight, the Optimar noble that Oin impersonates, is apparently a notorious drunkard. Given he's related to Vorgrin Vineblight, a wanted criminal who's curse killed his (Vorgrin's) mother in child-birth, there may be a more tragic explanation for this.
  • All-Loving Hero: "'I have half a mind to call you a meanie.' [...] That's as angry as my character's going to get." -Finn The Pony as and about his character, Ivan.
  • All Men Are Perverts / All Women Are Lustful: Which Josh exploits to hilarious effect. See Eating The Eye Candy below.
  • Ancient Tomb: The party explores one of these in the Galgari Jungle.
    • As well as one in the Urzaban desert.
  • Anyone Can Die: Jeminya's death makes it clear that NO-ONE is safe. Your hit points reach minus ten, you're done.
  • Apologetic Attacker: Amber apologises quite a lot while fighting Sazaan.
  • Armour-Piercing Question: Oin gives one to Kross during their talk in episode 18.
Kross: "I know exactly what's going on and nothing is going to come of it. These are just games. I'm very much aware of what (Simula) is planning."
Oin: "And… how exactly are you going to stop that from happening, when you can't control yourself?"
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: The pixies in episode 43. Despite the party agreeing to leave, the fact that they don't instantly dissapear makes the pixies impatient, and they teleport the party to opposite ends of the Earth.
  • Autobots, Rock Out!: "I Stand Alone (Instrumental)" plays during the Balor's appearences.
  • Badass and Child Duo: Arkoth and Hana.
  • Badass Army: The Fire Elves and the Dwarves are the two most powerful armies in Alatastica.
  • Badbutt: Eliyora mentions this trope word for word in reference to Amber. Though it was more of a case of Gosh Dang It to Heck!,
  • Bait-and-Switch Comment: When Faerthurin is teasing Amber about her feelings for Ivan.
Amber: "May I remind you that I am a big! Scary! Firebreathing dragon, and- He is kind of cute though."
  • Barrier-Busting Blow: The mummy in episode 44 smashes through a wall to attack the party.
  • Batman Gambit: Josh (through Simula) pulls one in the tunnels underneath Directian. He put an invisible wall over a fake gap, knowing that Toon would likely try to show off his incredibly high jump check. Toon fell for it, literally.
  • Battle Couple: Amber and Ivan. With the latter often choosing to ride the former in battle.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Josh blames the increasingly dangerous traps in his dungeons on Dr Wolf wanting more of a challenge.
  • Behind the Black: The party completely fails to notice an enormous carriage until Josh's narration points it out, despite Jalerom apparently being so close to it he could literally have Frenched the horse.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Oin ATTEMPTS to do this for Faethurin and Kross when The Warden is Mind Raping them in their dreams, but... see Negated Moment of Awesome below.
    • Rose succeeds in this, bursting through the door to a temple while wildshaped as a freaking T-Rex and one-shotting the villain the group was fighting.
  • Big Sister Instinct: Faerthurin starts displaying this towards Amber in Episode 43.
  • Bonding Over Abusive Parents: Jalerom and Faerthurin.
  • Bishie Sparkles: Faerthurin is described as seeing Jalerom this way during episode 44.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: Pixies in this setting have a rather "twisted" sense of morality. They see nothing wrong with teleporting people across the world out of sheer impatience.
  • Body Horror: Malbolge is FULL of this, being a layer of living tissue. According to Josh. It is the evils of the flesh taken literally.
  • Book Worm: Faerthurin: "Boooooooook~" Party: "And she's gone." "Fae! Fae! Focus, Fae!"
  • Bread and Circuses: Simula uses the Gladiator Games to keep her people (and herself) entertained with violence.
  • Breath Weapon: "You show it your gaping maw and torch it!"
  • Bring Help Back: The plot of the first two seasons is the party travelling Alatastica and recruiting the other nations to help them fight against the usurper Simula.
  • Cain and Abel: Jeminya's twin sister Simula plans to throw the world into war. Jeminya rallies forces to oppose her.
  • Campfire Character Exploration: The characters share their backstories with each other during one of these.
  • Cannibal Tribe: The fire elves are a rare positive portrayal, as their cannibalism comes not from savagery, but a religious belief that no meat should be left to spoil. Then again, if their elves, is eating human meat really cannibalism? What about half-elf? What about dragon meat?
  • Chain of Deals: One of the challenges the party faces while in Baator is avoiding being caught up in one of these.
  • Character Focus:
    • Jalerom and Jeminya in the Gatless Town arc.
    • Faerthurin and Rose in the Salania arc
    • Kross in the Sabaton arc
    • Faerthurin and Jalerom in the Galgari arc
    • Jeminya in the Optimar arc
    • Rose and Amber in the Sailing arc.
    • Amber in the Hawthorne Tower arc.
    • Jalerom in the Desert Temple arc.
    • Rose in the Nassa arc.
    • Kross and Amber in the Dragon Lands arc
    • Kross and Ivan in the Cumeleus arc
    • Amber, Faerthurin and Kross in the Aymer returns arc.
    • Jalerom and Kross in the Assasination arc.
    • Oin in the cursed child arc
    • Ravvas and Rose in the Ribcage\arc.
    • Oin, Amber, and Faerthurin in the Phlegathos arc
    • Jalerom and Ravvas in the Stygia arc.
    • Arkoth in the Maladomini arc.
    • Ravvas in the Cania arc.
  • Clear My Name: The party is framed by The Drow in season 4 as traitors to Directian.
  • Cliffhanger: Episode 38 ends on one, with the party finding a near dead Simula crucified to a tree.
    • Topped by Episode 69, which ends with Simula revealing that Arkoth was loyal to her all along and her joining the group was an elaborate ruse, killing the child inside her, then completing the ritual to unleash the Abyssal Plains. Oh, and Jalorum's dead.
    • Episode 71 ends with Jeminya getting dragged off to hell.
    • Episode 109 ends with Ravvas stabbing Faerthurin in the back during the battle with Lolth.
  • Climax Boss: Jeminya, The Balor, Arkoth, Simula, Baalzebul and Speculo
  • Close-Knit Community: Gatless Town is a place where everyone seems to know everyone.
  • Close-Range Combatant: Jalerom, Jeminya and Ravvas all have very little in the way of long-ranged attacks. Jeminya especially had to be reminded that fighting from a distance was even an option.
  • Cold Equation: Oin lectures Jeminya that as queen, she is going to need to do this.
    • This becomes a major source of conflict in season three.
      • In Ribcage The only way to get to Baator is to offer a blood sacrifice.
      • In Avernus, the party must choose whether to protect a damned soul or leave him to his fate.
      • In Stygia, the party has to make a deal to assassinate an archdevil in exchange for progress Only to learn that he has lost all his memories and is now effectively a new person.
  • Combat and Support: The team has all the ingredients you need for a balanced party.
    • Smacky, Hurty Ouchy: Jeminya, Amber, Oin and Rose are the primary fighters of the group via the method of face-stabbing (Jeminya), face-biting (Amber), face-punching (Oin) and face-biting-by-proxy (Rose)
    • "Ah, ya stole my lungs!" Jalerom and Kross are the two tracking and stealth experts of the game, along with the ability to do concentrated damage to single targets, while lacking the stamina for prolonged melee combat against multiple foes.
    • The Butler: Oin, Jeminya are the walking band-aids of the team, while Oin and Ivan also provide a wide selection of buffs and debuffs at the sir or madamn's conveniance.
    • "Oh God, Everything's on fire!!": Faethurin is a wizard. Which means by the time of Season Two, she's basically a walking nuke dispenser with features. Be afraid.
  • Combat by Champion: Essentially how the first of the Fire Elf Trials works
  • Combat Tentacles: The Kraken and The Night Twist both fight with these.
  • Cool vs. Awesome: Episode 35. As Toon puts it:
"Okay, so you have a giant dwarf, a golden dragon, and a teifling paladin on a pegasus, fighting a Kraken!!"
  • Cosmopolitan Council: The party meets with one of these in the Selania forest and Jeminya is able to succesfully petition for their aid in taking back her kingdom in exchange for the party killing "The Shadow" that has been murdering people in the town.
  • Crapsaccharine World: Sabaton seems like a quiet, friendly, pleasant kingdom to live in. Except Some shadow is going around killing people at night, the guards are completely inattentive, Happiness Is Mandatory and the king has spent nearly two decades under the control of a powerful fae creature.
  • Crapsack World: Baator. It really is a Hellish place to live.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: Any female character played by Josh.
  • Crush Blush: Fae has this in episode 44 when she stares at Jalerom for a bit too long.
  • Crush Filter: Fae starts to notice a certain... glow about Jalerom.
  • Curbstomp Battle: The party at level 14 vs a random group of bandits The party wins.
  • Curb-Stomp Cushion: Amber and Oin vs Sazaan, a fully grown dragon with decades, if not centuries of experience, and Zeadrel, his equally powerful wife who is princess of a Proud Warrior Race. Although he and Zeadrel get a few good hits in, the battle is overwhelmingly in Oin and Amber's favour.
  • The Cutie: Ivan is the cinnamon roll of the group. Protect him.
  • Darkest Hour: The Labyrinth ends with Jeminya dead, having sacrificed herself to save Amber and the group facing down a Balor that at their current level would almost certainly be a Curbstomp Battle.
  • Date Peepers: Or, in Jalerom and Faerthurin's case, proposal peepers.
  • Deal with the Devil: Taken literally in Season 3. The party has to make deals with each of the archdevils in Baator in order to advance to the next layer.
  • Debate and Switch: The Test of Resolve seems to be a test of what one is willing to sacrifice for their cause as Rose is forced to either kill Shiloh, or lose the fire elves needed support in the war, but not only is it resolved by Rose shooting herself, the whole thing turns out to be a False Crucible.
  • Demonic Possession: Played with. The Glimmercloak seems to be parasitically controlling some undead creature as a host body.
  • Demon Lords and Archdevils: The party meets all eleven Archdevils during their journey through Baator.
  • Dimension Lord: Asmodeus rules over all of Baator and can even dictate how time flows on the plane.
  • The Dreaded: The Balor. So terrifying that even its footsteps are Nightmare Fuel.
  • Dudley Do-Right Stops to Help: Despite the fact that Mirid Port is in no condition to help Jeminya take back her throne and wouldn't be for several years even if they helped restore it, the party still takes a massive detour from their kingdom saving mission to go wandering through the monster infested Salania forest to find and explore a highly dangerous labyrinth that may or may not even exist. All to clear the name of the father of some random bartender they'd known for less than a day. Clearly, prioritisation is NOT their strong suit.
  • Dying Town: Mirid Port has suffered a drastic shrinking of both its economy and population since the town's local hero was disgraced as a liar.
  • Dynamic Entry: The Balor enters the Labyrinth by smashing through the enormous double doors while heavy metal music plays on the soundtrack, grabbing an enormous chest, and hurling it at the party.
  • Earth All Along: A VERY downplayed example. The party originally believes that the desert town they find themselves in is on the other side of the world. However, it is later revealed that it is actually only a few days travel from their home country of Alatastica.
  • Eating the Eye Candy: The heroes (and their players) are rather appreciative of a Mr and Ms Fanservice that they meet while shopping. In Toonkritic's case, he gets to enjoy both.
  • Elemental Rivalry: Amber, the golden dragon (fire) vs. The Kraken (water).
  • Emotion Bomb: The Allip in Episode 44 has the power to hypnotise it's victims with thoughts of revenge.
  • Empire with a Dark Secret: Sabaton. See Crapsaccharine World above.
  • Endless Corridor: The party encounters one in the labyrinth.
  • Enhanced Punch: Amber's stunning fist attack. As well as Oin's punch, which can curse an opponent with bad luck
  • The Epic: The story checks all the boxes.
  • Epic Fail: Kross and Jalerom fail so often and thoroughly that after they do so they expect a stern lecture from Oin or worse.
    • Faerthurin has colossaly bad luck in episode 44.
  • Equivalent Exchange: The party must give up either their life, their identity or their fertility to enter Lolth's palace. They choose the latter.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: Jalerom has one in episode 44 when he realises he needs to light up the incense in the tomb.
  • Everyone Can See It: Faerthurin lampshades in episode 43 that Amber's feelings for Ivan aren't exactly subtle. Amber counters that the same could be said for Rin's feelings for Jalerom.
  • Evil Overlord: Lolth and Asmodeus. Rulers of the Drow and the Nine Hells, respectively.
  • Evil Plan: Simula's is to break into the Abyss and release an army of demons into the world.
  • Exact Words: Josh never said that Amber would drown if they don't get her out of the ocean, he said she would die. Which is true. If they hadn't pulled her out of the water, she would have eventually sank out of their reach to the bottom of the ocean where she would have been crushed to death by the sheer water pressure.
    • In Season Three, this is a common trick of the devils in Baator, but also one that Ravvas uses against them.
Rose: "If, at any time in the aeons from now that he realises it's a forgery, our souls will be right back here!
Ravvas: "No. Look at the contract. It's the same mistake that Bel made. The undersigned and companions will have his protection, but only the undersigned will have his soul forfeit if they fail. you will not have your soul in his possession if we fail. I will"
  • Eye Scream: The giant in the Test of Alacrity suffers this, thanks to Kross.
  • Facepalm: In episode 40, Ivan is teleported to the elemental Plane of Shadows, and the party panics trying to find a way to rescue him, despite the fact that he can just Shadow Walk out. Despite Josh dropping numerous, increasingly obvious and obviously frustrated hints Mostly through Simula, the party doesn't seem to figure it out. Finally, Ivan decides to check his spell list... only to use the wrong spell! You can actually hear Josh's hand hitting his face at this exact moment.
  • Fascists' Bed Time: The village they visit in Selania is under a strict curfew. The "Fascist" part is subverted however, as the fact that there's some "Shadow" going around murdering people at night means the town has a very good reason for imposing this curfew.
  • False Crucible: Faerthurin and Rose's tests in the Fire Elves trials
  • Fighting Your Friend: The party is forced to do this against Jeminya during the Season One finale
    • Also Jalerom after Arkoth brings him back as an undead.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Subverted, as even after fighting together, the team still spends time at each other's throats. It's only after they sit down and actively decide to start working as a proper team that they finally start to become True Companions.
  • Foreign Queasine: Subverted. While the food served in the desert town in episode 43 looks unappealing, the characters actually quite enjoy it.
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble: The team actually divides rather neatly into these roles.
    • Sanguine: Amber, Ivan
    • Choleric: Jeminya, Kross
    • Melancholic: Faethurin, Oin
    • Phlegmatic: Jalerom, Rose
  • Frameup: Simula frames the party for the murder of the Optimar queen and her guards.
    • In Season Four, Ravvas frames the party as traitors to Directian.
  • A Friend in Need: In Season 3, the party goes through death, horror, betrayal, guilt and one emotional gut punch after another to save their friend from Hell.
  • Friend to All Living Things: Rose is the "animal talker".
  • Gambler's Fallacy: Josh lampshades in Episode 43 that the players are falling for this by trying to "get the bad rolls out early"
  • Gamebreaker: In-Universe, Simula considered the dwarven armies to be this. Believing that having them on the party's side would give them too early a victory.
  • Genius Loci: The River Styx is sometimes implied to have a level of sentience, as NO-ONE is willing to break a vow sworn in its name.
  • Gladiator Games: The adventure itself begins with the player characters being captured and forced to compete in the Directian arena against various opponents, including Jeminya, who covertly assists the player characters in escaping.
  • Good Is Not Soft: The Druid who empowers Shiloh is kind and patient, but that doesn't stop her from calling out Rose on her coddling of Shiloh.
"Sister, I see that you have finally untucked your tail from between your legs."
    (...)
"It is good that you love your companion sister, but keep in mind: Not many care about that. Protect each other by fighting with each other, and don't let your love, and your fear, for him, deny him his true nature."
  • Good Is Not Soft: The party becomes this by Season 2. Technical Pacifist's they may be, but Beware the Nice Ones fully applies.
  • Good Cannot Comprehend Evil: The party often struggles to understand Simula's motives.
  • The Good, the Bad, and the Evil: The team consists of Anti-Heroes alongside Ideal Heroes, but they are all united in stopping Simula.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Enforced by Dr Wolf as he doesn't want swearing on his channel.
  • Green Around the Gills: Faerthurin gets rather seasick on Amarta's ship.
  • Guys Smash, Girls Shoot: Jalerom is a melee fighter who needs to get in close to deal damage, while Faerthurin is a squishy wizard who fights from afar. Also inverted with Amber and Ivan, given that she's a close-combat bruier and Ivan uses support abilities from a distance with his music.
  • Happiness Is Mandatory: Everyone smiles in Sabaton. Whether they want to or not.
  • Heads or Tails?: "Sometimes I'm a good luck charm, sometimes I'm a bad luck charm." -Toon Kritic about his character of Kross
  • Hell on Earth: What Simula intends to create.
  • Heroes Gone Fishing: The party spends a fair amount of time shopping for supplies in towns or resting in taverns.
  • Hero Looking for Group: Jeminya recruits the group to help her take back her throne.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Jeminya sacrifices herself to save Amber in "The Labyrinth". She gets better.
  • Hidden Elf Village: Optimar is an isolationist and xenophobic dwarven city.
    • The fire elves are a straighter example.
  • Horrifying the Horror: The archdevils are each the ruler of their own personal nightmare realm. They are more powerful than a Balor and command legions. Even they do not take The Styx lightly.
  • Hot Blooded Sideburns: Kross sports a pair of sideburns. They are even prominent enough to earn him the nickname "Sideburns" from one of the patrons at the Sabaton tavern.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: The party notices that Jeminya does not spit out the piece of flesh she tore out of the bandit leader's throat.
    • Kross is implied to have cooked and eaten the corpse of Simula's assassin, but it was never outright confirmed.
    • The fire elves eat all meat. Even humanoid.
  • Incredibly Lame Pun: Rather frequent. Complete with the expected Lame Pun Reaction
  • The Infiltration: The party must disguise themselves as lower devils to sneak into Belial's castle on Phlegathos.
  • Innocuously Important Episode: Episode 21, "The Labyrinth," initially comes across as mere filler and a side quest from the main events of the story. In fact, Jeminya's death at the hands of the Baalor set in motion the events for the entirety of season 3.
  • Insult Backfire: Amber refers to Simula as "The wrong hands". Far from being offended, she actually seems rather proud of the description.
  • Intelligence Equals Isolation: Faerthurin has high intelligence but low charisma.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: Oin and Hana have this with the rest of the party, due to being both much older and much younger respectively than the others.
  • Involuntary Group Split: Happens in episode 43, thanks to some impatient Pixies.
  • I Should Write a Book About This: Jalerom begins to take notes of the journey the group is taking.
  • It Has Been an Honor: Lunacorva says this to the other players at the beginning of the session where they journey to face Lolth.
  • I Will Find You: The Party traverse Hell in Season 3 to find Jeminya and save her from Asmodeus.
  • The Juggernaut: The Night Twist has an insane amount of hit points.
  • Jump Scare: Whenever Phantasmal Killer is used. Considering that Phantasmal Killer causes heart attacks from fright….
  • Jungle Japes: The Galgari jungle.
  • Just a Stupid Accent: One of the shopkeepers in Sabaton has a thick Indian accent.
  • Just Eat Gilligan: The amount of time it takes the party to rrealsie that Ivan can just Shadow Walk out of the Plane of Shadows is mind-boggling.
  • Knightly Sword and Shield: Both Jeminya and Ravvas have these. For Jeminya, it shows her as a Knight In Shining Armour. For Ravvas, it demonstrates his measured, Boring, but Practical fighting style.
  • Kraken and Leviathan: The party fights an enormous Kraken in episode 35. It's even the thumbnail art.
  • The Klutz: Amber can be clumsy to disastrous (and humorous) results.
  • La Résistance: Effectively what the party is against usurper queen Simula.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Eliyora starts to wonder if her string of Nat 1's in Episode 44 is Karma for having teased Toon about HIS bad luck in previous episodes.
  • Last of Its Kind: Jaylen, animal companion to Kross, is stated to be the last golden viper in the world.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Apparently, he's a legenday figure in this setting.
  • Leader Wannabe: Kross tries to take control and give orders but is met with opposition from the group.
  • Like an Old Married Couple: Faerthurin and Kross. Lampshaded by Amarta, who actually asks if the two of them are married.
  • Literal Genie: Because the Well of Heironeous was created by a lawful deity, people need to be very careful in how they word their wishes.
  • Lotus-Eater Machine: The garden on Dis. A beautiful illusion designed to make a traveller so relaxed that they never want to leave.
  • Luminescent Blush: Lampshaded by Jeminya.
"Goodness, (Faerthurin), you're turning almost as red as me"
  • Made a Slave: The Succubi in Gatless town. See What the Hell, Hero? below.
  • Magical Abortion: In episode 69, "The Dead Hope," Simula casts teleport on her baby, saying that it outlived its usefulness.
  • Marriage Before Romance: the ultimate fate of Jeminya and Cassian.
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": Everyone's reaction to the Balor's appearance.
  • The Medic: Oin is the primary healer of the group.
  • Medieval European Fantasy: Takes place in Alatastica. Like many Dungeons & Dragons campaigns, this setting is reminiscent of Tolkien's Middle Earth and things akin to it.
  • Merchant City: Gatless Town is a bustling trading hub.
  • Mighty Glacier: The Night Twist tree is ludicrously tough and has a very high attack rating, but due to being literally rooted to the spot, it's somewhat lacking in mobility.
  • Milestone Celebration: By pure coincidence, the finale was played and filmed on October 10, 2020, ten years to the day that the first episode of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic first aired.
  • Mission from God: It turns out their quest to stop Simula has some rather… high ranking support.
  • Misfit Mobilization Moment: The party realizes after the fight in the labyrinth nearly split them apart that they need to start acting like a team and not a band of bickering baboons. The fight against the Night Twist is the first instance of them showing real teamwork and coordination together.
  • Monster Is A Mummy: Valnarie the succubus. See What the Hell, Hero? below.
  • Monster of the Week: The series adopts this formula after the party escapes from the arena.
  • Mood Whiplash: The rather solemn tone and moment of Kross and Oin's conversation post-nightmare is broken by Jeminya suddenly yelling at them to go to sleep.
    • On the flipside, The epic and exciting mood of the Kraken battle swiftly turns grim when Amber faints from the stress of maintaining her berserk form and nearly sinks to the bottom of the ocean.
  • Mook Horror Show: The Test of Guile. As Jalerom calmly and brutally slaughters the troll guards one by one like something out of a slasher movie.
  • Mouthful of Pi: The owner of the Salania Forest Checkpoint reels off dozens of digits of pi to calculate the fee for staying the night.
  • Mugging the Monster: Those bandits really regretted picking a fight with the party.
  • Multinational Team: Each member has ties to a different kingdom in Alatastica.
    • As it turns out, This was Invoked by Simula, who wnted people who could bring together all the various factions for her war.
  • Multi Shot: As the story progresses, Kross learns to shoot two arrows in one turn.
  • Mummy The party encounters one in episode 44.
  • Munchkin: Deconstructed in Chapter 31: The Truth. Simply killing creatures because of "Roll Initiative" came back to bite the party by Jeminya becoming enraged by their "murderhobo" attitudes towards most encounters and losing her trust in her safety around them.
  • Mundane Utility: Faerthurin uses the powerful Teleport spell to get Amber out of a grapple check.
  • Named Weapons: Quickstrike and Blizzard Fang for Jalerom and Ravvas, respectively.
  • Narnia Time: Taken up to eleven with Baator, as each layer has its own time flow according to the desires of the governing Archdevil. Some move faster than the material plane, some slower and others at the same speed. By the time they leave, they find that A net twelve years had passed on the material plane during their three weeks in Hell.
  • Narrative Profanity Filter: As a whole, any swearing done by the party in-character is either self-censored or, in case of a slip, edited out.
  • The Need for Mead: Ivan often performs at these taverns.
  • Negated Moment of Awesome: Happens to Oin twice as a pair of bad rolls leads to his attempt at a Big Damn Heroes moment in the dream world falling flat on it's face.
    • Downplayed in the second example, as he IS able to recover from his original failure and rescue Kross. It's just not as glamorous as he would have liked.
  • New Powers as the Plot Demands: An unavoidable consequence of the games nature as characters will learn new abilities has they level up due to the rules.. However, from an In-Universe perspective, since we never actually see the characters do any kind of training or developing of their abilities before suddenly pulling out a fancy new technique that has never been seen before, it looks like they've all been putting max ranks into the Search (Own Rectum) skill.
  • "No More Holding Back" Speech:
Kross: "Amber, do you have anything you want to say?"
Amber: "Oh, just something Amarta said to me that's… getting under my scales."
    Kross: "What?"
Amber: "That I don't know who I am. I'm not sure what I'm doing, all I know is that I wanna protect this group. And I'm not sure that I'm… doing that to my fullest potential."
    • Earlier, there's Jeminya's speech to Oin.
"I have… secrets about my past. Secrets I'm too weak to be forthcoming about. And… upon the labyrinth, I've learned that… One of the secrets has… Damned my soul. I know this because, when I died, I was… I know this, because when I died, I was… Not where I wanted to end up. This, has caused me to… doubt my convictions. I've always striven to be compassionate and kind and and just, and now I'm beginning to think… ‘What's the point of it all?' If.. what happens to me in the end is… eternal damnation? Was I simply ‘Not good enough'? I always hoped that maybe, if I were good enough… maybe… I could fight my fate. That… Redemption were possible. That, maybe my God would show mercy.
Oh… OH! (She chuckles). That's the catch, isn't it? I see it now. I see how… selfish I've been. Thinking I could be ‘good
enough, so that I could ‘reap a claim' off of a God. It sounds so… silly, now that I think about it. Looking at me, talking about ‘My God' as if I own him. Like the same way I would talk about my boots. Like I'm ‘owed something' from a God to whom I have ‘staked a claim'. (chuckles) How childishly arrogant of me.
I could stop now… It would be so easy. To turn on everything I believe. To… hurt others for my own amusement. To make
my time on this Earth as pleasurable as possible before suffering forever. But even now… I don't think I can do that. Kindness, compassion, justice, goodness. I believe in these things because... They're worth believing in. Maybe, if I can help save others, lead them to paradises, I think that would be a life… well spent. And, if I still must… Suffer, for all time in the end… So be it."
  • No One Gets Left Behind: The party makes this explicit when Ivan gets trapped in the Plane of Shadows
  • No Sympathy: Simula's response to Faerthurin calling her out on everything she put the party through? "Get over it."
  • Not a Game: Kross uses this line after Jeminya is killed by the Balor. Rose doesn't take it well.
Kross: "This isn't a game anymore."
  • Not So Above It All: Even The DM eventually becomes a Shipper on Deck for the series two Official Couples
  • "Not So Different" Remark: The Warden uses this during Kross's nightmare. Pointing out that the both of them enjoy the power they have over others. He's... Not exactly wrong.
  • Obstructive Bureaucrat: Averted. The council is actually perfectly willing to help Jeminya once they know she's telling them the truth.
  • Oh, Crap!: When Faethurin hears that her father knows where she is, it's the first time we hear her gasp in fear.
    • Fae, Jalerom, Rose and Jeminya react this way when they realise they don't have the protection of heroes feast (Which saved Amber's life a day before.)
  • Older Hero vs. Younger Villain: Oin and Ravvas regarding Simula. They're old/middle-aged for their species respectively, while she's in her twenties.
  • Ominous Adversarial Amusement: The first clue the party gets that Lolth has royally screwed the pooch is when she has Ravvas in her grip, and he starts laughing.
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten:
"Let's hope Amber doesn't fall on anyone again."
"It was ONE TIME! ONE! Time!"
    • No one is ever going to let Kross forget his numerous moments of bad luck either.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Lampshaded by Eliyora in episode 43.
    "Since when is Fae comforting?"
  • Opening Narration: Each session begins with one from Josh.
  • Orcus on His Throne: Both Lolth and Asmodeus let others do their fighting for them instead of dealing with the party themselves. Justified, since the Primeval Pact prevents them from directly attacking the party. In fact, the one time Lolth DOES break this rule, it costs her her life.
  • Our Mermaids Are Different: The Water Elves are basically merpeople in everything but name.
  • Papa Wolf: Oin is a stern father figure to the group, especially to Kross and Jalerom.
  • Paranoia Fuel: In-Universe, the party becomes so paranoid of traps whenever they're in a dungeon that they point blank refuse to go five feet without making a trap check.
  • Party of Representatives: Subverted. While the party DOES have members of almost every race, they're almost all either outcasts, atypical of their race, or both.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: Faethurin uses Crushing Despair on Aymer with the express intention of making him feel everything he made her feel
  • Person as Verb:
Jeminya: "Sometimes you just have to Leeroy Jenkin's it."
  • Plot Detour: Played With in the Labyrinth arc. The arc was originally a Plot Detour. However, Jeminya's unexpected death set of a chain of events that ultimately led to Season 3.
  • Port Town: Mirid Port.
  • Powers Do the Fighting: Faerthurin, Rime and Simula. As Arcane spellcasters, they have almost no physical power, so instead rely on their magic to do the fighting for them.
  • Power Fist: "Imma punch it!"
  • The Power of Blood: Type O. Jeminya's death at the hands of the Balor is the first time that blood and gore is described and it is a powerfully visceral sign of just how terrifying the Balor truly is.
  • Pragmatic Hero: Both Oin and Kross are this. They are probably the two most secretive members of the party and the ones most willing to cross moral lines to get the job done (Kross showing his willingness to kill Punch Clock Villains without hesitation, and Oin making it clear under no uncertain terms that he will happily abandon Jalerom and Kross to their fates should they ever become a liability).
    • As a rogue, Jalerom can be quite ruthless when the situation calls. As shown in the Trial of Guile.
  • Precision F-Strike: When Josh tells the party to "Roll initiative" against the Balor.
Voice of Reason: "You've gotta be f(bleep!)ing- aaaggh!"
  • Predecessor Villain: The Old Regiment. A tyrannical group that ruled Directian before Jeminya's father overthrew them.
  • Prodigal Family: Faerthurin's abusive father Aymer —whom she had run away from— shows up as Simula’s Evil Genius.
  • Proud Warrior Race: The Fire Elves.
  • Punctuated! For! Emphasis!:
    Faerthurin: "Out! Of! My! WAY!!"
  • Putting the Band Back Together: The first episode of Season 3 has Ravvas finding all the party members around Directian after a three-month timeskip and reuniting them to rescue Jeminya from Hell and kill Lolth
  • Quicksand Sucks: Discussed and Defied in episode 43. Jalerom is worried about quicksand in the desert, but Faerthurin and Rose point out that not only do you actually need a lot of moisture to get quicksand, but that many times quicksand is actually harmless and one can actually float safely in it.
  • The Quest: The party travel the country to Bring Help Back to defeat Simula and later The Warden.
    • In Season 3, they travel through Hell to rescue Jeminya from Asmodeus.
  • Quest for a Wish: Downplayed with the Labyrinth arc. While the well at the end DOES grant wishes, their real reason for finding it is to simply prove that Seolic's father wasn't lying about its existence.
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: The entire group.
    • Badass Crew: By the time of Season Two, they've upgraded to this.
  • "Ray of Hope" Ending: Season One ends this way, the Optimar queen is dead, the party was almost shattered, the authorities think they're responsible for her murder, their chances of getting Optimar on their side have been completely dashed, and now they're on the run. But there are still other lands to visit, The Gods themselves have been revealed to be on their side, and their bond as True Companions is stronger than ever.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Jeminya of course, as well as most members of the council in Selania.
    • The constable in Gatless Town is one as well.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Quite a vicious one from Jeminya. See What the Hell, Hero? below.
  • Rescue Arc: In Season 3, the party is on a quest to save their friend, Queen Jeminya…
  • Revive Kills Zombie: Rose uses her healing spells to harm the mummy in the desert tomb.
  • Rightful King Returns: The party's goal is to restore Queen Jeminya to her rightful place on the throne.
  • River of Insanity: Downplayed as the ending isn't as much of a Downer Ending as most examples of this trope, but the party's journey through Hell takes them along the River Styx and by journey's end, they are all emotionally drained and mentally traumatised by their experiences.
  • Road Trip Romance: Both of the main couples in the series form during the quest across Alatastica.
  • Roaring Rampage of Rescue: Subverted. Ravvas certainly thinks the party SHOULD be going on one to rescue Jeminya, stopping at nothing to save her (He has no personal stake in the matter, but his ideals on loyal lead him to view anything LESS than this as tantamount to betraying her). The party is far more hesitant to become The Unfettered in their pursuit of her rescue, leading Ravvas to eventually give them a "The Reason You Suck" Speech regarding their reluctance.
    • When Baalzebul eats Hana however, the party IMMEDIATELY drops all niceties and rips the archdevil into literal pieces to save her.
  • Rules Lawyer: The Gods have all learnt to do this, using Exact Words and Metaphorically True to get around God's Hands Are Tied.
  • Running Gag: Whenever someone in the group says something embarrassing or private, someone replies: "We'll edit it out". They never, ever do.
  • Run or Die: The Balor in Heironeous's labyrinth.
  • The Savage South: The Fire Elves island.
  • Save the Princess Very briefly, when Simula is "captured" by The Warden.
  • Saying Too Much: The shopkeeper in the desert town does this when she let's slip that there is a nearby port town that could take the party back home. Despite the fact that information on how to return to Alatastica was exactly what Arden was offering in exchange for investigating an ancient tomb, and now he has nothing to offer them. Fortunately, the party agrees to help him anyway.
  • Season Finale
    • Episode 32 for Season 1. Jeminya is revealed to be a Tiefling, the party is framed for the dwarven queen's murder, but now they know the Gods are on their side and they're closer than ever.
    • Episode 71 for Season 2. Simula has finally been defeated, Jeminya has taken her place on the throne, Ivan confesses his love for Amber and Jalerom ask Faerthurin out on a date. But before they can fully celebrate, a portal opens up and Jeminya is dragged into Hell.
    • Episode 119 of Season 3. Jeminya is safely returned to them and the party have escaped from Hell. But they had to make a Deal with the Devil to do so, and apparently, something has happened to their home while they were gone.
  • Ship Tease: Between Kross and Jeminya, as well as Ivan and Amber, and Fae and JT.
  • Show Within a Show: In-Universe dialogue between several of the analysists during their reviews has implied that this campaign is ALSO being run and played by their fictional persona's in the MLP Analysis verse.
  • Shock and Awe: A lightning trap is encountered in the Galgari temple. Set up by Aymer.
  • Shoot the Dog: The Fire Elves force Rose to do this to Shiloh or lose Jeminya her army in the Test of Resolve. Not only does Rose Take a Third Option by shooting herself, but the whole thing turns out to be a False Crucible.
  • Single-Stroke Battle: Jalerom vs. an Allip. Jalerom wins.
  • The Smart Guy: Faerthurin is the database of information for the group. "Faerthurin, roll a knowledge check" is a common phrase in the campaign.
  • Smug Super: Confidence borders on grandstanding. Especially for characters such as Kross.
  • Snarky Non-Human Sidekick: Lucid often throws quips at the party and other creatures. This gets him into trouble, especially when the Will-O'-Wisp almost kills him.
  • The Sneaky Guy: Jalerom is the rogue and he takes trap checking very seriously.
  • The Social Expert: Ivan is thrust forward for any social interactions the group encounters.
  • Spell Blade: Both Jalerom and Ravvas' swords are wreathed in an elemental effect. Lightning for Jalerom, and cold for Ravvas
  • Spontaneous Choreography: Invoked by the Cheshire Cat before their battle to the tune of "I'm Odd."
  • Spot the Imposter: Surprisingly, NOT with Jeminya and Simula, but rather with Oin and a mirror clone.
  • Stating the Simple Solution: Faerthurin and Jalerom spend a long time coming up with increasingly elaborate and dangerous ways to light a mundane torch (including the use of fireball and lightning bolt spells), until Rose points out that not only can she just cast a basic "light" spell, but most of them can see in the dark anyway.
  • Succession Crisis: Apparently Directian's past has had a history of this. In the story proper, the party is VERY mindful of avoiding this outcome.
  • Suddenly Shouting: The party bickering over what to do with the wishing well drives Jeminya into this. Considering that she'd just been revived from the dead, and was suffering a massive Heroic BSoD as a result, her reaction is quite understandable.
  • Support Party Member: Oin, Rose, and Ivan are the primary support players of the group.
  • Super-Reflexes: By the second season, the characters are at a level where they (Or characters on par with them) can consistently react to explosions, blasts, magical lightning, and similar, which would put their reaction speed around the Hypersonic, or Mach 10 level.
  • The Team: Granted, it takes about twenty episodes before they can be considered a true team, but once they hit that point, well… they rack up quite the resume.
  • Team Chef: Thanks to his Heroes Feast spell, Oin is the one in charge of feeding the group.
  • Team Dad: Oin takes care of the group in a "tough but fair" demeanor.
  • Team Pet: Shiloh, Jaylen, and Lucid are the pets of the group.
  • Technical Pacifist: The party as a whole (with the exception of Jalerom and Kross) become this in Season Two after Jeminya and Rose call them out on needlessly killing enemies.
  • Technicolor Fire: The incense in the desert tomb produces a blue flame when lit.
  • Teethclenched Teamwork: The party may work with each other, but they certainly don't like trust or respect each other and are constantly bickering. This is Deconstructed as this in-fighting nearly splits the entire party apart. They realise they need to stop being at each other's throats and start acting like a team. By the time of Season Two, they've upgraded to True Companions.
  • Tele-Frag: Discussed by Jeminya, who points out in episode 43 that Fae should have a clear picture of where the rest of the party is before she accidentally teleports them into a wall.
  • Temple of Doom: The party encounters one of these in the jungle during Episode 27.
    • In Episode 44, Faerthurin, Jalerom, Jeminya & Rose all explore one in the desert.
  • Tempting Fate: The group constantly saying "I hope a Kraken doesn't show up, leads to.. A Kraken showing up. Lampshaded constantly.
Eliyora: "Okay! Okay! No! Stop! You know that phrase "Tempting Fate"? Well Fate is sitting RIGHT THERE in the Dungeon Master chair!"
  • Hypnotic Creature: The Night Twist tree can control people's minds to make them willing food sources.
  • The Trickster: The Cheshire Cat is as mad as... well a Cheshire Cat. He plays tricks on the people of Sabaton, the party, himself, and his own minions to no discernible purpose.
  • The Unintelligible: The pixies in episode 43 are rather hard to understand due to their high pitched voices.
  • Third-Act Misunderstanding: Played with in the Season One Finale. Rather than the party shunning the secret keeper, they are actually perfectly willing to accept Jeminya. Instead, the conflict ironically stems from the secret keeper lashing out at the party in fear that they would turn on her for her secret, as well as other incidents that had compounded this mistrust.
  • Third Party Stops Attack: Rose prevents the fight between Amber and Kross. Offering herself as a target of Amber's rage instead.
    • In season 3, Oin stops the fight between Amber and Ravvas by Placing Ravvas in a magical coma.
  • Thirsty Desert: Faerthurin, Jaleorm, Rose and Jeminya end up here thanks to some pixies in episode 43.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Kross's reaction to finding himself in one of The Warden's nightmares.
(*resigned sigh*) "Okay. Guess it's my turn now."
  • Those Two Guys: Jalerom and Kross.
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: Ivan is an air gnome, and therefore only a little over 3 feet tall. Amber, however, is of average humanoid height and therefore towers over him.
  • To Hell and Back: The Party's goal in Season 3. Combined with Kill A God.
  • Too Dumb to Live: The trolls during the "Test of Guile."
  • Took a Level in Badass: The team goes from a Ragtag Bunch of Misfits, to a Badass Crew over the course of Season One.
    • This ends up Deconstructed in Season Three as their amateurish origins leads to much conflict with the professional soldier Ravvas who swiftly loses patience with their lack of discipline. Making the team realise that while they're SKILLS are greatly improved, they're still very naive about some of the darker aspects of war.
  • Trapped-with-Monster Plot: The party finds themselves trapped in a labyrinth with a Balor hunting them down.
  • True Companions: The party has become this by the time of Season Two.
  • Twerp Sweating: Parodied and Subverted in episode 52. Amber's father Varaugh tries to do this with Ivan, but the latter is such an Endearingly Dorky Nice Guy that Varaugh can't bring himself to keep up the act for more than a minute.
"Curses! how does anybody stay mad at you?"
  • Two Lines, No Waiting / Trapped by Mountain Lions: While the main number of the party are on a quest in Episode 10, Ivan/Finn and Amber/Bliss have a small sub-plot in the chat window as Ivan tries to persuade Amber to sleep. While not really plot-relevant, we do learn some more about both characters.
  • Untrusting Community: Optimar is isolationist and xenophobic.
  • Unusual Euphemism: Lightning Bliss lets out one of these when she learns that Her character can breathe underwater, and the post Kraken fight panic was over nothing.
"SON OF A BASKET EATING BULLDOG!!"
  • The Usurper: Simula has deposed Jeminya from her crown.
  • Values Dissonance: An In-Universe example when Bayleen wants to keep travelling with the party. While some are understandably against bringing a child into dangerous situations, other characters who experienced similar trials at a young age, or lived in a harsher environment or culture see nothing wrong with the idea.
    • It should also be noted that in the middle ages (Which is the time period this series is based on), you were considered to be a legal adult at ten. Which is how old Bayleen is.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Even after they become True Companions, the party still enjoys playfully ribbing each other. This applies to the players as well.
  • Wardens Are Evil: The Warden delights in torturing the party both with the shock collars in the arena and through psychological torment, even in their dreams.
  • Watching Troy Burn: The party, especially Jalerom, is shocked and horrified when they return to Gatless Town only to find it a smoldering ruin.
  • Welcome to Corneria: Lampshaded by Jalerom who notes that the guards in Sabaton have exactly the same greeting dialogue as the guards in Gatless Town.
  • We Need to Get Proof: Or in the case of Dispator's daughter, We Need To Fake Proof
  • Wham Episode:
    • Episode 31, with The Reveal that Jeminya is actually a teifling.
    • Episode 39 Simula has been usurped and raped by The Warden, leaving her pregnant and forcing her to join the party.
  • Wham Line:
Councillor (To Fae'): "Your father contacted me."
  • What Measure Is a Non-Human?: Invoked in universe, as the party is told a story about the first time a werewolf put on trial WASN'T instantly deemed guilty by a Kangaroo Court.
    • This is also a big part of Jeminya and Rose's What the Hell, Hero? speeches. See the trope below for more information.
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
    • Oin calls out Kross for his constant lies.
"You keep this up, and you're going to get all of us killed. Do you hear me? All of us. Killed."
    Jeminya: "You killed her."
    Rose: "Her?"
Jeminya: "Remember the succubi? We thought they were slaves? Guess what?! They were actually slaves. They were starving. They needed to siphon energy from you all, else they would die. That man we followed? He was delirious, because he was drunk of their energy. They were his prisoners, ever think of that!? Oh, no, no. You didn't care. I did though! I tried to knock them out, because I'm not so prejudiced as to immediately assume the worst in someone I hadn't met! I was able to it for one of them, but YOU (points to Jalerom) You had to take your crossbow and impale Valnarie in the head!
Oh yes Jalerom. That's the name of a life you took. Valnarie. That night, the constable and I actually looked into her, oh, not that any of you cared enough to follow up on the investigation. She had a family. Her husband's name? Malio. They even have two children, adopted of course, because they didn't want to have their loved ones live with this…
dirty blood. They wanted to live normal lives, free from prejudice and hate. But did you care? Nope! They were just demons! Just… "Evil things" that deserved to be smote by the "righteous adventurers"! And now we've left two children without a loving mother, and left the father to pick up the pieces. Congratulations. Heroes
    • And when Ivan tries to defend himself, she fires at him.
Ivan: "Excuse me! I never tried to kill. I never implemented a first strike! I always tried to make peace with the enemy if possible!"
Jeminya: (Laughs) "You see!? THAT! That is a perfect little microcosm of precisely why I don't believe you! ANY of you! How quick you are to point the fingers at your friends and throw them under the carriage, Ivan! How quick you are, to throw the blame at everyone but yourselves, you MISERABLE! SELFISH! CRETINS!!!"
    • This of course provokes Rose into one of her own.
"How! DARE! You! Do you know how many animals I have watched this group slaughter!? How may I have helped slaughter!? Did you care about them? Have you seen the flesh, of the- the- young that they have consumed, that I have consumed with them? I know what it's like to watch them not care! About creatures that aren't like them, I know this!
But I'm still here! Because I
still believe in our cause. And that in the end, it's best for everyone. No matter how many times I have seen lives taken, I have taken them myself! I may not know much of your kind Jeminya, but you don't know anything of mine! Did you care about the minotaur I had to Mercy Kill because of what you people had done to it!? Did you care about the snakes!? Or the spiders!? Or, even the dog!? All of these animals, these beasts, I've watched killed, by this group. I know what it's like. But I'm still here."
    • A much gentler one from Jalerom.
"Now that I have everyone's attention: This is about our journey into that labyrinth. That was… That was not a victory. We barely made it out by the skin of our teeth and we almost lost the reason for our quest. And look, I understand tensions were high because the creature we faced was out of our league and the only thing we could do was run and hide. Even taking too much of a precaution, which, normally I would have been for, backfired greatly. And… even after getting away, we came to blows with each other over the smallest details. We were working well before this. But we need to be an effective team and have each other's backs when times are good, and when things become difficult. If the tiniest flaw can break this fellowship, we're not as strong as we believe we are. And to top it off, we still have Simula's forces on our backs, plus Faerthurin's father's also apparently after us. And since death is possible after our last encounter, it only proves we're not ready to take Simula head on. As you can see, this is kind of why I'm a little on edge and trying not to crack under pressure.
Now, I need to speak to each of you individually.
    (To Kross)
Listen, you need to communicate more clearly and honestly. Time was of the essence dealing with those wishes, and you wasted time when all you needed to do was choose your words more carefully. You are a captain. You've lead people into battle. You should have learned to be tactful and concise during that time. Also, the uh… compulsive lying? Please. I need that to stop.
    (To Faerthurin)
You and your bird have been
so vindictive to Kross since day one, and this has to stop. We need each other right now. I know you're rightly suspicious of people, but that's something we can't afford. I don't think Simula cares for your trust issues all that much.
    (To Oin)
We appreciate that you've been watching over us, especially from The Warden. But this condescension you have with the rest of us isn't helping. You keep lecturing us over the
tiniest missteps, and that's going to bring down morale. We don't demand perfection from you, stop demanding perfection from us. It's only going to make us make more mistakes.
    (To Amber)
Look, I know you get scared easily, but we can't afford that anymore. Like it or not, that got our mission killed, and we're lucky the wishing well was there when it was. You're a dragon, for Erevan's sake. What would other dragon's think if they saw you cowering like you did?
    (To Ivan)
I know you try to make the situation better, but sometimes, push comes to shove and you need to act accordingly. Sometimes there is no ‘third option' where everyone skips along into the land of sunshine and rainbows. Faffing about and letting others suffer… No, scratch that, I didn't mean to say that.
    (To Jeminya)
I'm sorry you had to hear that. You've dealt with enough stress and trauma to last several lifetimes. Something I've not, and hope never to experience again on our travels.
    (To the whole group)
This is not what I wanted to do, berate everyone on their mistakes when I've made plenty of mistakes in the past. I've wasted valuable time with my inefficiencies in… certain skills, and my misplaced curiosity. This is not a side I wanted to show to anyone. One trait of my father's I wish I hadn't received, bottling up emotions till the jar cracks. ...We should be arriving at Galgari soon."
  • When Trees Attack: The Night Twist is a sentient killer tree. And that is far more terrifying than it sounds.
  • William Telling: Faerthurin does this to Jeminya with her dagger as an intimidation tactic.
  • World Half Full: At the start of the story, Directian is under the control of an usurper sociopath who's right hand man tortures innocent people in the arena, Sabaton is a Crapsaccharine World where Happiness Is Mandatory, Mirid Port has fallen into disrepair and is close to death, Gatless Town is preyed on by slavers, the Galgari Elves are plagued by a Nightmare Beast, Lefythr is being attacked by some "Shadow" and Optimar is isolationist and xenophobic. Through their efforts though, the heroes make all these places better. Except for the last one.
  • World of Action Girls: It's easier to list the named women in this series who DON'T kick so much arse they have to buy shoe polish that's specially formulated for buttock smell.
  • World of Snark: It's a campaign run by Josh Scorcher, with Bronalysists as players. You knew this would be a thing.
  • Yellow Brick Road: The River Styx in Season 3.
  • You Didn't Ask: Josh's given reason for not telling the party that Amber can breathe underwater
  • You Wake Up in a Room: How the story begins.
