Boots to Reboots is an online series featuring a mentally ill patient named Andy, also known as the Maniacal Cinephile, who reviews reboots and remakes of classic horror films to determine their fates. He is accompanied by two split personalities: Good Andy, a childish version of himself, and Evil Andy, a psychopathic, malevolent representation.

This web series provides examples of:

• Abusive Parents: Andy's mother was an emotionally abusive drunk. He still keeps her severed head around, who still continuously insults him.
• All Men Are Perverts: Evil Andy definitely loves the women featured in horror films.
• Arc Villain:
  • Freddy Krueger forces Andy to watch the 2010 remake of his film before trying to kill him. He later manipulates Jason Voorhees into helping him kill Andy through the Necronomicon featured in the Evil Dead series.
  • Michael Myers has Andy review Rob Zombie's take on his franchise against his will.
  • Chucky tricks Andy into reviewing the 2019 remake of his first movie and giving it the boot, then tries to possess him.
• Ax-Crazy: Unsurprisingly, Evil Andy has several instances of being unhinged.
• Barefoot Loon: Andy does not wear any shoes, which compliments his status as a mentally-ill patient.
• Beard of Evil: Evil Andy due in part to sharing Andy's body. And he is very malicious.
• Big Bad Duumvirate: Freddy and Jason team up in the review of the 2009 Friday the 13th. Freddy got Jason to work for him under the promise of resurrecting his mother with the Book of the Dead.
• Black Comedy Rape: Andy sticks his finger through a bagel's hole resulting in its "death."
• Butt-Monkey: Dr. Oddcoitus is often the victim of Andy and his split personalities. For instance, he was trapped in Andy's house for a good duration of the web show's run.
• Catchphrase: "Hello and welcome to Boots to Reboots, the place where most reboots go to die."
• Comically Missing the Point: Andy and Good Andy lament the death of Gage during their review of the Pet Sematary 2019 remake while Evil Andy is only concerned that the truck driver ruined a great song.
• Dark and Troubled Past: Andy was disfigured when a cup of scalding hot nachos and cheese was tossed at him. From there, he spent ten years in a mental institution where his other two personalities were created, thus turning him into the Maniacal Cinephile.
• Death Is a Slap on the Wrist: Any one of the three versions of Andy might die in a review, yet show up perfectly fine next time. For example, in the Halloween II (2009) episode, Good Andy falls victim to the Silver Shamrock commercial and is killed, but shows up perfectly fine in later reviews.
• Deal with the Devil: The Devil attempts to make one with Good Andy during the review of the remake, Bedazzled (2000).
• Demonic Possession: Evil Andy gets possessed in the review of the Evil Dead remake.
• Disney Villain Death: Discussed in the reboot of Dredd when Judge Dredd tosses Ma-Ma to her death. Perpetuated when Andy inserts himself in Ma-Ma's place and slowly falls.
• Driven to Suicide: Happens once per episode. Usually whenever Andy is watching an excruciating moment from a remake.
• Even Evil Has Standards: Evil Andy cries over a death in Rob Zombie's Halloween II (2009), but he asserts that he was merely constipated.
• Evil Sounds Deep: Evil Andy has this to further accentuate that he is, in fact, not a nice guy, in stark contrast to Good Andy's high-pitched and childish voice.
• Flanderization: Evil Andy started off as ominous and creepy, and generally being The Quiet One a lot of the time to establish an aura of menace while getting a good barb in once or twice. His status as the evil personality and his snark were increasingly focused on, resulting in him turning into a Large Ham who generally acts like a petty, hedonistic jerk and has a body count in the double digits. As a result, he became absolutely hilarious.
• Freudian Excuse: The Maniacal Cinephile was sentenced to ten years in an institution after the traumatizing experience he had at the movie theater. Worse, his family celebrated the fact.
• Friend to All Living Things: Good Andy completely adores animals to the point that he dreads the inevitable trope of having an animal get killed as a cheap scare.
• Halloween Episode:
  • His two-part review of Rob Zombie's remakes of John Carpenter's films. He also tries to escape Michael Myers himself when Myers forces him to review the sequel.
  • His review of Trick r Treat even includes Sam himself almost killing Andy when Evil Andy used the money to buy booze.
• The Hedonist: Evil Andy loves nothing more than to drink, rob stores, etc.
• Hide the Evidence: After Andy "kills" a bagel, he cuts it to pieces in the bathtub before flushing the remains down the drain.
• Insane Equals Violent: Andy is mentally ill with Dissociative Identity Disorder, and he's murderously violent (or at least Evil Andy is).
• Jerkass: Evil Andy, unsurprisingly, mistreats the real Andy and his good half and is borderline hedonistic and uncaring of how others feel.
• Jerk with a Heart of Gold: However, Evil Andy does show signs of caring underneath all the bullying, for example when he chips in to give Andy a new pair of boots...somehow.
• Kick the Dog: Good Andy hates this trope as it entails that any animal he grew to care for would get unceremoniously killed.
• Laughably Evil: Evil Andy is a cannibalistic, hedonistic serial killer, but he's also absolutely hilarious.
• Madness Mantra: In his review of the remake of The Mummy, when Rick O'Connell refers to himself as the map, Andy starts singing the "Map Song" from Dora the Explorer repeatedly before blowing his brains out.
• Mommy Issues: Andy had this with his mother at some point...to the point that he keeps her shrunken head around.
• Nice Guy: Unsurprisingly, Good Andy is sweet, well-intentioned, and just wants everyone to get along.
• Only Sane Man: The main Andy plays the Straight Man to his split personalities' antics.
• Overly Long Gag: Andy goes on a long skit trying to understand what's so funny about "Women be shoppin'".
• The Reveal: Despite his belief that he had Oddcoitus imprisoned in his home, it is revealed that Oddcoitus had long since retired and he was never held captive. Andy had stopped taking his medication which nearly dooms him because that meant that Freddy was coming for him.
• See You in Hell: Said by Freddy Krueger in Andy's review of the A Nightmare On Elm Street reboot before he gets crushed underneath Andy's boot.
  Freddy: I'll see you in Hell!
  Evil Andy: Tell them that Andy sent ya!
• Serial Killer: Evil Andy has the tendency to kill people, one instance being where he killed the neighbor to take his pool, or when he hunted down and ripped the arm off the man who threw the cheesy nachos at him.
  • Andy also has the habit of skinning people and keeping body parts.
  • His review of the anthology film Trick 'r Treat briefly mentions that Evil Andy has killed roughly around forty people.
    • Besides him, there are also Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, and Michael Myers, who often star as the antagonists of his reviews.
• Sir Swears-a-Lot: Evil Andy is especially guilty of this trope, befitting his unpredictable nature.
• The Sociopath: Evil Andy is a hedonistic split personality who is violent and murderously insane. In nearly every episode, he either kills or maims someone, robs banks, drinks booze — anything that stimulates him.
• Split Personality: Good Andy and Evil Andy.
• Toilet Humor: Happens consistently with Evil Andy being the main perpetrator.
