Zack Dragonblade and the Excalites
is a webcomic created, written, and illustrated by Shannon. It is published online on Comic Fury.
In an alien world inspired by fairy tales, a demonic witch called Xavierella plots to destroy all life and take the planet for herself. A hero named Arthur Dragonblade, blessed with the might of Excalibur, stands up to her... and fails. Xavierella is able to be banished, but Arthur is lost, and Excalibur's power will no longer work for anyone else.
To mitigate this, Excalibur is split up into five swords called Excalites, each one with a special elemental power. When Xavierella reemerges, it's said that the five Excalites together can destroy her once and for all.
Zack Dragonblade begins this mission, fighting demons and surviving the world's dangers along the way.
Zack Dragonblade and the Excalites contains examples of the following tropes:
- Anime Hair: Many characters have spiky hair.
- Break the Cutie: May, who is normally carefree and happy, is sent into despair after she learns that her family is dead along with her whole village.
- Costume Evolution: Zack starts the series in a ragged white shirt, with torn pants and a red headband. Later, he gets a cleaner outfit with dark-blue as the main color, white gloves, and a bandana.
- Non-Indicative Name: Her last name is Flower, but her magic has nothing to do with plants. Her element is fire.
- Only Known by Their Nickname: May's real name is apparently Maple Flower.
- Pungeon Master: May can be this at times, lightening the mood with a horrible pun, mainly to make fun of her opponents.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: The antagonists, Xavierella and her demons, all have red eyes.
