"Sordid Details Following" is a webcomic started in 2010 by a college student who uses the internet monikers "Ksiezniczka" or "Tenor Sax Lolita". It centers around a high school girl in a suburb in Ohio by the name of Ally O'Hannigan who, after a UFO crashes in her home town, comes across a strange girl named Nutella. Hilarity Ensues

It can be read on deviantArt here or on The Duck here

"Sordid Details Following" provides examples of:

  • Accidental Misnaming: Ally is not short for Alice or Allison. It's just Ally.
  • A-Cup Angst: Ally is a relatively minor example, but she still doesn't like it being pointed out. Living with curvy Nutella and Clio doesn't help.
  • Aerith and Bob: Most of the cast has pretty normal names. Then you get Andersen, Ally's older brother, and Nutella, who is named after food.
  • All There in the Manual: Character profiles are currently being uploaded to deviantArt with random fun facts about the characters. Also, the creator's formspring.
  • Alpha Bitch: Played with. Nancy has the personality and money of one, but is a goth and considered a bit of an outcast who harasses the main cast over something that happened when they were young.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Nutella. To a degree, Clio looks Asian, but she's actually Greek.
  • Advertisement:
  • Ambiguously Jewish: Ally has been known to use Yiddish expressions from time to time.
  • Art Evolution: Though the comic isn't long yet, this is already starting to be apparent.
  • Author Appeal: The author has admitted that many elements of the story are because of this.
  • Bare Your Midriff: A lot of Nutella's outfits.
  • Bilingual Bonus: Nutella apparently speaks Quechua, of all things.
  • Cast of Snowflakes: The author has tried to give all the main characters distinct facial features and body types.
  • Character Development: Already starting to show a little with both Ally and Nutella.
  • Cleveland: According to Word of God, the story takes place in a suburb of Cleveland.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Nutella
  • Cool Big Sis: Clio Habchi to Ally, Nutella, and Sabrina
  • Cosplay Otaku Girl: Sabrina
  • Curtains Match the Window: Andersen's eyes are the exact same shade of brown as his hair.
  • Advertisement:
  • Disappeared Dad and Missing Mom: Ally and Andersen are orphans, also Zooey and Sabrina have a Missing Mom.
  • Dramedy: Though it's considered a humorous comic, it has these moments. Nutella's nightmare in chapter one is a good example.
  • Dumb Blonde: Betty. Sabrina also fits the stereotype, though she dyes her naturally blonde hair pink. It is worth knowing that Sabrina's identical twin Zooey is a genius though.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: Clio and Nutella are both called hot by other female characters.
  • Hair Decorations: Sabrina sometimes wears ribbons, barrettes, or headbands.
  • Evil Redhead: To a degree, Nancy
  • Fat Girl: Betty, one of Nancy's lackeys.
  • Fiery Redhead: Completely averted with Ally, who is shy, awkward, and uptight rather than fiery and outgoing.
  • Flashback Nightmare: Nutella has one
  • Flat "What": Ally lets one go when she first meets Nutella.
  • Framing Device: The first and probably second chapter are told in Ally's flashback.
  • Friendship Moment: "Will you be my new ñaña?"
  • Funetik Aksent: Nadine's Cajun accent.
  • Gag Boobs: Poor Clio.
  • Genki Girl: Sabrina and Nutella both at times.
  • GIS Syndrome: Done with the O'Hannigans' television.
  • Godiva Hair: Used with Nutella
  • Harmless Villain: Nancy and her lackeys, according to Word of God, are supposed to be too pathetic to be considered much of a threat. For one thing, Nancy holds a grudge over losing a beauty pageant at age 5.
  • Hidden Depths: Implied with Nutella
  • Hollywood Nerd: Sabrina's sister Zooey. Ally is a bit of one herself.
  • Hollywood Voodoo: Ally's friend Nadine is a Cajun voodoo queen, complete with her own zombie.
  • Homoerotic Dream: The author has stated her intention to start chapter 2 like this.
  • Human Aliens: Nutella.
  • I Am Not Pretty: Ally's character page states she considers herself "absolutely average in every way", but despite her flat chest, at least her friend Jerry seems to have a crush on her.
    • In the author notes for the recently released title page for chapter 1, the author states that she herself thinks Ally is pretty, just not as gorgeous as Nutella. Ally is the only one who thinks she isn't pretty.
  • Innocent Fanservice Girl: Nutella
  • Kids Are Cruel: Why Nancy hates Sabrina so much
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: In one page, Ally questions "Who even still watches The Slayers anyway?" Sabrina starts to reply with the author's pen name.
  • Luminescent Blush: Every so often, characters display this.
  • Manic Pixie Dream Girl: Nutella to Ally
  • Meaningful Name: Arguably, Nutella's nickname of "Nutty."
  • Model Couple: Andersen and Clio.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Nutella, who is very curvy and doesn't seem to understand why she can't just be naked.
  • Multicolored Hair: Nancy's is red and black, presumedly dyed as in childhood it was just red. In one non-canon picture done by the creator, Ally gets blue streaks in hers.
  • Mundane Fantastic: Despite that there is a UFO, a possible alien, and a voodoo zombie, the comic focuses a lot more on the relationship between Ally and Nutella.
  • Mysterious Past: Nutella. Only a small part of her origins have been revealed.
  • Naïve Newcomer: Come on. Guess.
  • Naked on Arrival: Nutella.
  • Naked People Are Funny: If she isn't naked for fanservice, Nutella's chronic nudity falls under this
  • Named After Somebody Famous: According to the creator, Andersen is named for Hans Christian Andersen and the dog Schlitze is named after a character in Freaks
  • Neat Freak: According to the author, Clio
  • Nerd Glasses: Sabrina's genius sister Zooey. Arguably Ally as well.
  • No Name Given: Nutella's actual name is unknown, so the O'Hannigans and Clio just named her after her favourite food.
  • Official Couple: Andersen and Clio, Betty and Jordyn.
  • Polar Opposite Twins: Sabrina is a ditzy, energetic otaku. Her twin Zooey is a stoic, sardonic genius.
  • Poster-Gallery Bedroom: The one time Ally's room is shown, she's shown to have posters on her door of Jem and the Holograms and Zahi Hawass
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: Sabrina uses this on Ally
  • Rapunzel Hair: Nutella's hair is really long.
  • Romantic Two-Girl Friendship
  • Schedule Slip: A lot. Inevitably leading to...
  • Series Hiatus: One lasted months on end.
  • Shout-Out: Otaku Sabrina to anime tropes in general, one filler page to Wolverine, and Nutella to, well, nutella
    • In the recently-released title page, Nutella is wearing a costume from Barbarella.
  • Sleep Cute: Ally and Nutella on one page.
  • Spoiled Sweet: Sabrina. It should be noted she was a lot brattier as a kid, though.
  • The Unintelligible: Jordyn
  • Titled After the Song: The comic's title is a reference to a David Bowie song; the author has stated her intention to name all the chapters after bands or lines in songs as well. It's apparently supposed to represent the music stuck in Ally's head in each chapter.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: Though she isn't much of one, Ally is still tomboyish when compared to ultra-girly Sabrina.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Nutella is named after hers, and puts it on everything, including meat and herself.
  • Troperiffic: The creator is a troper and does this on purpose whenever possible.
  • Valley Girl: Ally's friend Fatima talks like this.
  • Webcomic Time: The story began in early 2010 and, Ally's flashback was meant to take place in the fall of that year, which was supposed to be 20 Minutes into the Future - due to a sporadic update schedule, it's now more like Twenty Minutes Into The PAST.
  • Word of God: The author reveals a lot in the author notes and on her formspring account
  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Clio has blue hair and Sabrina has pink. However, Sabrina's is dyed, it's naturally blonde.
  • You No Take Candle: Nutella starts like this when she begins learning English. She's slowly improving though.

How well does it match the trope?
