Royal shows examples of

  • Animation Bump: The comic went from black and white to colour halfway through chapter 2.

  • Anime Hair: The Magi sub-human species have a 50/50 change of being born with odd-coloured hair.

  • Crossover: Royal has crossed over with a few other webcomics and webnovels, weather it be cameos or otherwise. The Biggest Contenders are

  • Elemental Powers: Elemental Magi are more common than energy magi
    • Schroeder Welsh is a Nature Magi, he can control plants
    • Paris Boudreau is also a Nature Magi
    • Carter Schmitt is a Water Magi
    • Stuart Schmitt, despite not showing his powers yet is confirmed as a Lightning Magi

  • Full-Contact Magic: A majority of Energy attacks.
  • Former Teen Rebel: Both Jr and Schroeder can go under this trope due to them being really aggressive young men while in high school

  • Horny Devil: The Sexual-Education teacher, Ms.Sweet.

  • Inept Mage: Oliver, he can do magic but is very weak.

  • Jizzed in My Pants: Junior after having some alone time with Ms. Sweet

  • Late for School: The first chapter has the Twins' car breaking down on the first day of school.

  • Man-Eating Plant: Schroeder summons one while fighting against Junior.

  • Mononymous Biopic Title: The Series title is the Surname of the main protagonists.

  • Naughty Tentacles: What Junior's thoughts went to when Paris asked if the Man-Eating Plant had tentacles.

  • Noodle Incident: Sometime during their highschool days, Jr punched out Schroeder. The only explanation given was that Schroeder was being a dick, how he was being a dick is left unanswered.

  • Older Than They Look: Oliver, he is 18 years old but is only 5 feet tall

  • Our Vampires Are Different: Vampires are like regular citizens in the series, but their weaknesses are very downplayed and are also considered myths.

  • Pure Energy: Magic used by someone not born with an element. Junior is a main example.

  • Rising Water, Rising Tension: From overusing his powers, it didn't take long for Carter to start flooding the simulation room.
  • Shirtless Scene: Jr has been seen topless in the first 3 chapters and the prologue so far and that is if you don't count Oliver being naked in the start of chapter 1.

  • Super Gullible: Junior - he isn't that bright when it comes to giving people the benefit of the doubt.

  • Trauma Button: Oliver with dogs - the reason for his fear of dogs has yet to be revealed.

  • Urban Fantasy: The series takes place in modern day Canada.
  • Water Is Blue: Biggest example of this is Carter's powers in Chapter 4
  • Wizarding School: North Academy

  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Carter Schmitt is the prime example of this being that he has blue hair.
