On their twelfth summer, Dipper and Mabel Pines are sent by their parents to Gravity Falls, Oregon to spend quality time with their Grunkle Stan at the Mystery Shack.

Or at least, that how it was in one universe.

What if, in another universe, Dipper and Mabel were not raised together? What if instead, Dipper was raised since infancy by his Grunkle Stan, and Mabel is sent there to spend time with the twin she didn't know she had?

Reunion Falls is a Gravity Falls Fan Webcomic by sailorleo and can be read on their tumblr here.

Reunion Falls provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Since Mabel suffered from Bill's possession instead of Dipper, it left some underlying trauma for her.
  • Adaptational Gender Identity: One comic implies that Dipper is a transgender boy. In the show, there are no implications of him being transgender.
  • Adaptational Sexuality: While canon!Mabel was only ever interested in boys, here she develops a (reciprocated) crush on Pacifica.
  • For Want Of A Nail: While Dipper and Mabel were raised by their parents in canon, here Dipper was raised by Grunkle Stan.
    • This version of Dipper doesn't hide his birthmark under his hat. He's also fairly more self confident than he was in canon. In contrast, Mabel has a more subdued personality.
    • While this version of Dipper still had his Precocious Crush on Wendy, he had long since grew out of it, though he's surprised that Wendy knew about it.
    • In the series, Dipper and Mabel's first encounter with Gravity Falls' weirdness is when they discovered that Norman was a group of gnomes, here Dipper (having met them before) knocks them out of their disguise before they could try to trap Mabel.
    • In "Sock Opera", Mabel blew off her obligations with Dipper to make her Sock Opera, leading to Dipper getting possessed by Bill Cipher. Here, she tries guessing a password while Dipper is away from the laptop and nearly crashes it, leading to her getting possessed in an attempt to salvage the situation.
  • In Spite of a Nail:
    • While Wendy knew Dipper's real age and their relationship is a solid "brother/sister" dynamic, Dipper still lies about his age to join Wendy's friends like in "The Inconveniencing".
    • While he doesn't hide his birthmark with a hat, Dipper still goes by "Dipper".
    • Ford and the Portal both still exist.
    • The events of "Sock Opera" still happen, but Mabel has both her plot of the play and Dipper's plot of being possessed by Bill.
  • Innocent Swearing: It's implied that being around Wendy made Dipper more comfortable with swearing.
  • Like Brother and Sister:
    • Various pictures imply that a young Soos helped raised Dipper as a surrogate big brother.
    • While canon Wendy was a friend to Dipper and Mabel, here she acts as a "cool older sister" to Dipper.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • In "Carpet Diem", Mabel, Candy and Grenda read racey werewolf novels at their sleepover. Here, they "trained" for future ghost-hunting by ogling the werewolf section in the journal.
    • In "The Inconveniencing", Mabel gets sick on Smile Dip after suffering from a Mushroom Samba. Here, Candy and Grenda use it to expell Bill from her.
  • Parental Abandonment: Dipper was mysteriously left with Stan when he was just a baby. It was actually Bill, who used his power to send baby Dipper to the Shack and erased everyone's memories of him, save for Stan.
  • Parental Substitute: Stan for Dipper, to the point where a younger Dipper saw him as his father.
