Nagaraja is a historical-fantasy comic by dinosaurusgede
hosted on Deviantart. The story takes place in Southeast Asia in late 19th century. Nagaraja means ‘Lord of Serpent’
Long ago, the Archipelago in South East Asia was floating in the sky until one day, Naga (Dragon Serpent) anchored all the islands with a holy mountain to the sea. In order to prevent the islands to afloat in the sky again, the Naga sealed the mountains in the islands. Isabella is a descendant of the Naga in the Philippines, where she was sent to the Indonesia for cultural exchange as well as to protect her from the sides which tries to utilize her Naga power during Philippines revolution. In Indonesia, she will meet the Nagaraja (King of Naga) as well as fellow Naga from Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore and Naga from various Indonesia regions. Thus her adventure begins.
Nagaraja contains examples of:
- Flashback: Ankar show Isabella the memories of Naga history in flashbacks.
- Hellish Pupils: Sometimes the Nagas' eyes turn to ones with non-human creepy pupils when they are in their human form. It has much to do with him being 'Lord of Serpent'.
- White Man's Burden: Since this comic takes place in late 19th century, many countries are still under Western colonial rule.
