Go To

Monstra is a Webcomic from RichieD. It tells the story of Storm Fuller, a vampire whose family owns the obligatory spooky mansion on the hill in the small town of Cliffton. However said house has been converted into a boarding home for both humans and monsters with Storm the recent landlord of the building despite only being a teen. Thus he has to make sure neither side come to blows with each other while also worrying about his social life.

Can also be seen on Deviantart with author commentary.

Monstra provides the following tropes:

  • Bathtub Mermaid: One is seen in a bathtub when Kiwi goes looking through the house for the girl Storm was feeding on.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Fushia who not quite up there in the head. The comic even introduces her as a martian (?).
  • Creator Cameo: When Kiwi searching the house, she runs past the author playing video games. The guy sitting next to him is actually a online friend of his.
  • Cute Monster Girl: Storm's sisters.
  • Daywalking Vampire: The webcomic follows the Dracula rules, the vampires are daywalkers but their powers are weakened during the day. When one character asked why fiction would omit that fact, it's stated that it's just old knowledge that got lost in the lore and generally Rule of Drama to prevent paranoia in humans. If anything, it's not so much the sun that causes the demise but the unstable power within newborn vampires combusting them because of believing the sun can kill them. After a days rest from initial turning, their bodies can regulate the power and prevent this problem.
  • The Dreaded: Night Fuller a.k.a Big Sis in the first few comics to which Storm tries to avoid revealing that the person he bit and brought home as revived as a vampire.
  • Expy: Kiwi is one of Tewi from the Touhou Project series.
  • Friendly Neighborhood Vampire: Storm and his family are able to get along with humans just fine.
  • I Am Big Boned: Button who cites her as big boned in her introduction box.
  • Haunted House: The comic supposedly takes place in one of these. Played straight that indeed monsters inhabit the building but subverted in that humans do too since the place is a boarding home for both species.
  • It Was Here, I Swear!: Storm's "dinner"
  • Sassy Black Woman: Ms. Brooke, the cook of the manor.
  • Monster Mash: If the name wasn't clear enough, the comic focuses on monsters.
  • Shout-Out: Fushia mentions monkies taking over the Earth during her rant and Button wears a shirt reading Vic Viper on it.
