Can you imagine what would happen if Goku became a God of Destruction?! I know this is crazy, but there is a Dragon Ball story that tells us what that would be like! If you’re curious to know, come with us to discover this amazing series called Dragon Ball Hakai.
Tagline

Imagine a world with consequences where the gods are held to a standard. After the Tournament of Power has determined that the universes are righteous enough to continue existing, the Grand Zenos have decided to continue with universal reform. With the universal mortal rating at an all time low, it is time for a Termination Announcement. One of the Gods of Destruction will be forced to step down. His replacement? Son Goku!

All of the gods and even our hero are shocked and opposed to this decision, but Zeno has made his choice. Goku will become the new God of Destruction whether he wants to or not. Even worse, a group of villains from outside the multiverse have determined that now is the perfect time to strike and all angels, gods, and even a group called the Celestial Guardians must now fortify and fight them to prevent the Zenoverse from being conquered! How will our hero deal with these new problems on the latest episode of Dragon Ball Hakai?!

The English version of the fan manga can be found here. Dramatized versions can be found here and here on the creator's YouTube channel.

This fan manga contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Badass: Pikkon is reimagined as a Celestial Guardian. Celestial Guardians are at least partially made up of former GoDs who now protect the multiverse from threats originating from outside of it. Pikkon is stated to be the first GoD for Universe 7.
  • Asshole Victim: While not evil or anything, Champa is a terrible God of Destruction. Him and Beerus have been on thin ice for a while with the former finally overstepping the bounds.
  • Brought Down to Normal: Champa is stripped of his power of destruction incidentally killing his Supreme Kai since their lives are linked.
  • Badass Adorable: Beerus is shown as a child training to be a God of Destruction under his master while he was still a child. He's got adorable neko face at that age. He can also destroy entire planets with a hakai.
  • The Cameo: Granolah and Monaito have a cameo in Chapter 7 where the former is expressing outrage at the news of Frieza being alive, only to get interrupted by the sight of the Cereal Dragon Ball in Monaito's possession being rendered unusable.
  • Can't Live Without You: Fuwa is killed when Champa is stripped of his powers. The Kai is ordered to return to his home realm and act as a deceased deity while the former God of Destruction is allowed to live out his now mortal life on any planet of his home universe that he wishes.
  • Canon Character All Along: Several movie and filler exclusive characters have their character designs and names reused and reimagined like Pikkon and Cooler.
  • Death Glare: Goku and Beerus are NOT liked by the other GoDs. Goku gave Zeno the idea for the Tournament of Power despite it giving the 8 worst universes a chance to survive and they don't like Goku's casual attitude towards Zeno and his obvious favoritism towards the Saiyan. They also ignored the memo that the tournament was basically planned anyways without Goku's help and it was a Secret Test of Character and Goku's universe passed it and saved all 12 universes. As for Beerus, he fell asleep during a hide and seek competition and the tournament had to be canceled. Zeno almost destroyed everything out of anger. The other GoDs never forgave him.
  • Double Agent: The Celestial Guardians suspect that their is a traitor in their ranks as the invaders knew of all their weaknesses. It's implied that this is why Beerus leads on Pikkon to think that he's going to take a nap. Instead Beerus goes to protect Uub. Beerus was the first GoD to openly state that there must have been treachery when Pikkon states that the guardians were attacked "in a moment of weakness".
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: When Frieza retrieves his older brother Cooler from his prison, the latter is decades behind current events and is bewildered at the existence of gods, alternate universes, and Super Saiyans.
  • The Gods Must Be Lazy: Played straight and called out. Except for the GoDs from Universes 1, 5, 8, and 12, the rest of them are chastised for letting 8 of the 12 universes for falling into decay. Champa traveling to Universe 7 to collect the Super Dragon Balls for a selfish wish is considered the final straw and his title of God of Destruction is terminated.
  • Landslide Election: All 12 GoDs and all 12 angels vote Vegeta to be the new God of Destruction. Too bad the Zenos don't care.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Beerus gives Vegeta his earring that symbolizes his ability to use hakai and goes to take a nap instead of working. His superior Celestial Guardian isn't pleased. Beerus then makes a beeline straight for Uub who is a target for the invaders from outside the multiverse due to his connection with the Primordial Beast, Kid Buu. It's unknown if Beerus lied to Pikkon because he suspects that he is the traitor, because he's thinking of stepping down after Champa got dismissed, or because of an unknown third reason.
  • One Last Job: Beerus is very subtly implied to be considering retirement after his brother got fired from the job. He has made no verbal or mental indication that this is the case, but given his depressed attitude, further disobedience and disrepect, and reminiscing on the past indicates some deep thoughts and conflicting feelings. Regardless, with the current crisis ongoing, now isn't the time to retire.
  • Our Demons Are Different: Demons are born from fruit from a special tree. The same tree grows gods. Makaio are born from rotten black fruit while Makaioshin are born from rotten golden apples. They are immediately dropped into the demon realm upon birth. Note that this isn't hell, but a separate dimension just for them. While they are evil and cruel, they still serve the purpose of making sure other types of demons don't escape and wreck havoc on the universe. However, they tend to accomplish this task with Cold-Blooded Torture, murder, and eternal imprisonment. They also like doing this to the weaker types that can't escape the demon realm just for the kicks.
  • Our Gods Are Different: Kais are born from fruit from a special tree. The same tree grows demons. Black fruit become Kai like King Kai while golden fruit become Supreme Kai like Shin. They look like apples. They are also are born as full grown adults being able to speak very elegantly.
  • Parental Favoritism: Zeno is technically everyone's father(?) since he created the universe. Vegeta receives all 24 votes to be the new God of Destruction, but both Zenos overrule this. Vegeta rightly points out this is ridiculous as Zeno only chose Goku because they are friends. That is, before Beerus shuts him up before he gets himself or all of them erased. However, given what the Grand Minister says about 8 of the 12 GoDs being negligent and the angels are their advisers, it's possible that Zeno just thinks they are all too incompetent to get any say in the matter and he's trying to shake up the natural order.
  • Professional Buttkisser: It's hinted that the Zenos pick Goku because he would be the only god or angel who isn't this.
  • Say My Name: The first thing that Cooler does upon waking up in his prison capsule is to shout "FRIEZA!!!" in rage.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: Eight of the twelve GoDs have let their universes fall into stagnation and neglect. While they survived the Tournament of Power's test, the Grand Zenos decide it's time to clean house with a warning by dismissing Champa of the 6th universe.
  • Top God: It is explained that there are seven groups of universes. Each multiverse is ruled by a top god. Zeno is one of these seven. Even Beerus was relatively unaware of this, though he claims otherwise.
  • Troll: The Zenos let the angels and GoDs vote on who gets to be the new God of Destruction. Then Zeno ignores them all and appoint shis own candidate. It's very clear that he doesn't care about any of their opinions and may be rubbing it in their faces.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: See the entry under Death Glare above. Goku doesn't really desire the hate, but Beerus kinda does.
  • You Have Failed Me: Champa gets the boot for neglecting his duties, having one of the lowest mortal ratings on record, general incompetence and disobedience, and traveling to Universe 7 without permission to selfishly gather the Super Dragon Balls. Ironically, he declares he will live out the rest of his life on Universe 6's Earth which was part of the reason he got fired in the first place.
