The Pokémon Crystal Double Nuzlocke Challenge, drawn/written by miizj, follows the adventures of Crystal and Gold through the Johto and Kanto regions, as per the story of Pokémon Crystal. The comic first started on June 4, 2011, and finished on June 27, 2014.
Originally, the comic only followed Crystal's journey, and tied in to a separate Nuzlocke run, Lads Nuzlocke, that followed Gold. Due to BinLads, the author of Lads Nuzlocke, being unable to continue, the two comics were combined into the Crystal Double Nuzlocke, drawn solely by miizj with input from BinLads.
Now, due to Smackjeeves demise, the series can be found reuploaded by the author on ComicFury.
Pokémon Crystal Nuzlocke contains examples of:
- Adaptational Villainy: Mewtwo was never a villain in the games.
- Art Evolution: Compare the first page to mid-Johto, the Elite 4, and the Kanto arc.
- Berserk Button: Do not let Gold find out you hurt Crystal. Especially if you were a jerk about it.
- Bishie Sparkle: Gold gets a little bit once, though it's more like "Cuteness Sparkle".
- Demonic Possession: Mewtwo to Red and Crys, as well as their teams.
- Flat "What": Crystal’s reaction when Gold gets a Dratini in the Dragon's Den.
- Fourth-Wall Mail Slot: Starting here
- Just Friends: Gold and Crys, complete with Ship Tease, denial, and UST.
- Killed Off for Real: Par for the course in a Nuzlocke; Pokémon do not recover from death.
- Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: Why. Did. You. Buy. Cosplay?
- Splash of Color: The comic is mostly black-and-white. Generally, the only panels in color are special (such as season covers) or plot-important.
- Tsundere: Gold and Crys both have this attitude towards each other. Lampshaded/Played for Laughs in this Fourth Wall Mail Slot comic.
