ArtifiSouls (Webcomic)
On the vast planet Arata, a robot named Skittie wakes up in a strange place with no memory of his past. While uncovering his origin and purpose, he stumbles upon even more mysteries. What will he find on his adventures?
Description of the webcomic.
ArtifiSouls is a Sci-fi Fantasy Webcomic created by ArtifiSoap, hosted on Webtoon. It can be found here.

ArtifiSouls narrates the story of a robot named SC-T, nicknamed Skittie who wakes up in the middle of a abandoned factory in a planet colonized by humans called Arata. Having no memory of who he was, and trying to fix another robot of the same model he is, Skittie goes in a journey to rediscover who he was before waking up in the factory. Along the way, he meets with a variety of robots and humans who will help him in his journey.

ArtifiSouls provides examples of:

  • Alien Sky: Eltauris, the sun that the planet Arata orbits, orbits another larger star, named Exidium.
  • Always Chaotic Evil: All Mimmets we have seen so far have shown they are mindless monsters that seek to kill and devour cores.
  • Amnesiac Hero: Skittie wakes up in the ruins without any memory on what happened before he got there.
  • Animal Motif:
    • Pekkr is one to birds, woodpeckers specifically. Her name sounds similar to the woodpeckers, she looks like she has a beak and is friend with Pie who is a bird robot.
    • Well, arthropod motif more specifically but Tailor is linked to spiders, calling her children her spiders and looking a lot like one.
  • Benevolent A.I.: Many of the robots in the webcomic are nicest characters of the series. Chief amongst them is Skittie.
  • Blue Is Heroic: Skittie has blue antennas, a blue jacket and one of the most selfless and kind-hearted robots.
  • Blue Oni, Red Oni: Stellar is the red oni to Flare’s blue oni, she is a enthusiastic and happy-go-lucky girl while Flare is the more calmed and grounded of the two.
  • Brain Uploading: At first it's implied that Skittie and MD are products of this. Then we discover that it wasn't just them being turned into robots, but the majority (or even the entire population) of the north colonies of Arata in the Project: Exodus initiative of Espera.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Pie is constantly shouting about the solar flares and is always worried that they will cause the end of the world.
  • Cute Machines: Scales is a small and very adorable robot who has a fishbowl for a head.
  • Cyber Cyclops: Oku has a singular eye-screen.
  • Dying Race: Implied to be the case for the type of robots that Skittie and MD are part of. Their models were manufactured at the north of Arata but after an explosion of the factory, it became rare to see robots of their model.
  • Evil, Inc.: Possibly the case with Espera Corporation, a company that has stationed in Arata and seemingly turned the north population of Arata into robots for nefarious purposes.
  • Fantastic Racism: Operation Exodus, a massive consrtuction project to establish Arata's capital in the North had robots prohibited , according to Kuta its because the robots are outdated.
  • Goggles Do Nothing: Kuta wears goggles on his head, but they don't serve to protect his eyes — they're just a part of his facescreen, after all.
  • Gratuitous French: Shikaan uses several French words in her vocabulary.
  • Great Offscreen War: As Halibut tells to Scales, the planet suffered a massive war between the humans and the wildlife of the planet for its dominion.
  • Green Aesop: The comic shows the destruction a nuclesr war is capable to do to the environment and its negative effects.
  • Humans Are Bastards: Humanity came to Arata with plans to conquer it and colonize it, fighting a war against the Great Spirits for the dominion of the world. The war ended when humanity launched nuclear bombs to weaken the spirits and fry them with plasma.
  • Jerkass: Ati. She treats Skittie with disdain and mostly uses him as a means to an end.
  • Mechanical Lifeform: The planet Arata has several robots inhabiting it, with all of them being able to feel like your average human being.
  • MegaCorp: Espera, a large corporation with multiple factories across the planet when the humans started to colonize it. After the war, its facilities at the south of Arata were left abandoned after an accident happened. It is unknown if said facility is still running elsewhere.
  • Mr. Exposition:
    • At one point of the webcomic, Halibut decides to tell Scales the story of how humans colonized Arata, a great war between humans and the local fauna and its spiritual leaders and the current state of the planet.
    • Shikaan reveals part of the lore to Scales, telling how Mimmets fall down to the planet and causes chaos but there are rare times that a colorful comet falls into an unknown location. She also implies the existence of a space angel, which foreshadows Skittie's true identity.
  • Mechanical Animals: Pie is a bird-like robot. Though instead of acting like a bird, he is fully sentient (if by sentient you mean shouting about solar flares).
  • Multi-Armed Multitasking:Pekkr has two left forearms branching from a single upper arm and she uses all three of them to keep her store open.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Humanity isn’t really proud of themselves after launching the nuclear bombs to kill the spirits.
  • Never Smile at a Crocodile: Mimmets are shadow-like monsters with similitudes of an alligator or a crocodile, with a mouth shaped just like the reptiles and behaving similarly to one.
  • Nice Guy: Skittie (and in similar level, Scale) is one of the nicest characters of the series. Considerate, patient, friendly, Skittie tries his best to help everyone.
  • Noodle Incident: When Kuta mentions about Operation: Exodus, a project to build a capital at the north of Arata to consolidate the humans' dominion over the planet. MD seems to remember something about it but what it is, is unknown. Turns out it was a project to turn the human population stationed in Arata into robots, with both MD and Skittie humans that infiltrated there and got caught in the middle of an experiment.
  • Those Two Guys:
    • Oku and Kuta are always shown together and rarely separated.
    • Stellar and Flare also get this treatment, almost always together.
  • Our Angels Are Different: Skittie is implied to be some sort of space angel when he enters in his One-Winged Angel form. This form is powerful enough to defeat a Mimmet by digging out its core.
  • Our Souls Are Different:
  • Ridiculously Human Robots: All of the robots are able to feel and think like a human does. It is also shown that they can sleep.
  • Scenery Porn: The webcomic is pack full of beautiful scenery and landscapes, especially during later chapters.
  • Shovel Strike: Stellar gives to Skittie a shovel as a improvised weapon. Not that he is really in a mood to fight anyways. It later turns into a powerful weapon after Skittie reaches his One-Winged Angel form.
  • Spider Tank: Halibut is a massive robot with four legs.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: When Skittie uses his abilities, it seems that whatever possessed him in the first episode resurfaces and tries to take control of his body, in exchange to new abilities and powers. This however was necessary to defeat the Mimmet that Stellar and Flare were hunting.
  • Unnaturally Blue Lighting: The Factory ruins are awash in an icy blue, which the June 12 Special says was deliberate, to make the place look eerie and silent.
