Twitch Plays Pokémon (TPP) is a series of social experiments that started in February 2014 in which commands representing buttons on an original Nintendo DS (up, down, left, right, A, B, X, Y, L, R, start,) and touchscreen coordinates are entered into a chat on Twitch, and then translated into a game of Pokémon via an IRC bot. In short, thousands of people are fighting over a controller. Throughout its life, Twitch Plays Pokémon has spawned hilarious characters, memorable moments, and even a few religions.
Twitch Plays Pokémon Waning Moon is the sixth run of season 3 and the 21st overall run. Like its predecessor, it uses the recently-released Pokémon Sun and Moon, but this time, it uses a difficulty hack to make things harder, with multiple six-Pokémon teams lurking around every corner. It stars d76o6yttr?? (or Devin Yates), another boy on a Pokémon journey through Alola as he retraces his predecessor 9'l's steps and sates the mob's lust for badges by catching tons of Pokémon.

This game contains examples of:
- Almost Famous Name: Kevin Yates is a retired politician. It's not likely that anyone who came up with or cemented Devin's name in the fanon took this into consideration.
- Level Grinding: Due to being a difficulty hack, it's fairly easy for Devin's team to fall behind in levels. The mob usually takes this as an opportunity to catch more Pokémon.
- Revolving Door Casting: Averted. Having played through the game once, the mob is much more aware of the dangers of the PC, so they swiftly turned off the Manual setting as soon as they entered the game. Devin has managed to retain desired Pokémon in his team throughout the game, with the exception of Leafeon.
- We Hardly Knew Ye: Leafeom the Leafeon was hatched and boxed between the Lush Jungle trial and Olivia's defeat, barely managing to do anything of note.
