The best heroes we could afford...

TomatoGhost is a game/film review series that uses on-going narratives featuring recurring characters. Created by and starring Tom Hayes, the series sees TomatoGhost, a thieving, dimension jumping gamer and his partners in crime Mewtwo and Caliburn getting caught up in crazy shenanigans. Despite this, there's always time to look at a game or two.

Starting in 2015, the show originally focused more on the review aspect involving the occasional skit or comment. However in 2017, it headed in a different direction with a stronger focus on narratives and characters. Whether its the time of King Arthur, a heist in the streets, another dimension or just chilling at home, the gang's world is unpredictable and who knows what's coming next.

  • Brick Joke: In Inspector Gadget: Advance Mission, Tom points out how the death animation mirrors that of Banjo-Kazooie. The episode ends the same way, complete with "GAME OVER" on screen.
  • Cutaway Gag: As Tom tries to break out of Noteleks' dungeon, he laments about distracting Mewtwo with wine and we quickly cut to see Mewtwo and Caliburn watching Pokemon The First Movie and enjoying their wine.
  • Defeat Equals Friendship: Mewtwo first appeared to antagonise Tom. After losing to him, they've since become close allies.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: Partway through Sonic Forces, Noteleks flips the room upside down using a purple light which emerges from his wrist. The end of the episode reveals its because he's wearing a watch.
  • Glowing Eyes: Tom's eyes will briefly glow red and green when the Spirit of Christmas he absorbed is activated.
  • Halloween Episode: Unless Schedule Slip occurs, most episodes released in October fall under this.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Ignitus in Sonic And The Black Knight after tripping during his initial charge.
  • Killed Off for Real: Despite being review show, it doesn't shy away from characters dying. So far the likes of Ignitus and Roger have been killed off.

  • Never Say That Again: Tom's reaction to Mr. Fantastic mentioning the Fantasticar.
  • No-Sell: Noteleks easily stops the Terror Mask just by grabbing it.
  • Overly Long Gag: When Petronious asks Tom if he's learnt anything from playing Bonanza Bros, Tom spends a long time contemplating the answer. Long enough to even drink from a water bottle.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: Roger was killed off because he was too impractical to film with on location
  • Remember the New Guy?: In The Trap Door, Tom claims Roger is his best friend despite never being mentioned or appearing before.
  • Those Two Guys: Mewtwo and Caliburn have become this, spending their days watching anime and laughing at the sombre moments.
