Where we promote VTubers that you should be following right now.
"We've got tropes! As we check out TVTropes, where it seems that VTuber fans have put together an article about TVS."

Things VTubers Say is a short news program hosted on YouTube that covers the Virtual YouTuber scene. Debuting on December 8, 2020, new episodes are produced regularlynote , and while the series originally started out with a focus on independent English language VTubers, it has since branched out to report on VTuber news and events occurring all around the world. The program is hosted by robotic VTuber FalseEyeD, and can be found on his YouTube channel. The show also features co-hosts Co-Dee, Lae-Dee, and formerly Hai-Dee before she graduated.

The name of the show comes from the fact that most of the information reported on comes from VTuber-related posts on Twitter. The show showcases announcements from individual VTubers, the various agencies (large and small), and other noteworthy messages, such as sponsorships and shout-outs. It also provides coverage on noteworthy streams, such as debuts, song releases, birthdays, and streaming anniversaries, compiling the appropriate tweets on these events. Finally, the show is a showcase for artwork and animation created by and for VTubers, often in response to the aforementioned noteworthy streams. All of the Twitter accounts utilized for an episode are provided in the video's description for viewers to check out.

This program provides examples of:

  • Bowdlerise:
    • To a degree; False has a tendency to skip over or replace profanity when reading the tweets on screen, although the actual text shown is not edited.
    • More noticeable with artwork that's a bit hotter than YouTube will allow; that will be cropped or covered up as needed, and False will also note when a particular artwork is so spicy that even showing a censored version could get them in trouble.
  • Content Warnings: Occasionally, a TVS episode will cover topics that include particularly traumatic material. In these, False will replace the normal blurb-style opening line with a viewer discretion warning, such as this episode.
  • Crossover:
    • Made a guest appearance on the second episode of Ironmouse's Speak of The Devil talk show.
    • False had a second crossover, of a sort, with Speak of the Devil on Things VTubers Say episode 142 (10 September 2021). He edited himself into the "host" position in a clip taken from the fourth episodenote , opening and closing his episode from that scene.
  • Distaff Counterpart: When the "android" avatar was introduced, there was also a brief cameo by a female version at the very end of the video; she has since made several other brief appearances at the end of episodes. When Ironmouse asked him about her, he noted that the female android, named "Lae-Dee", is a separate character, and that she would be voiced by a different performer when she eventually did make her full debut. An announcement tweet on September 6th, 2021 confirmed the spelling of Lae-Dee's name, and opened up auditions for the role. Lae-Dee finally debuted on 13 November, 2021, and made her first appearance on Things VTubers Say on 16 November.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: The show took a few episodes to find its groove, with intros and outros being somewhat freeform in the early videos.
    • The opening logo (seen above) made its first appearance on January 19th, 2021.
    • Early videos listed a number of ground rules:
The show is for mature audiences.
The views expressed in the showcased tweets are not FalseEyeD's own.
He is not aware of any re-posts or drama.
False noted that he will "absolutely" butcher some of the VTuber's names.
The news items are for English VTubers.
Viewers should follow the VTubers on Twitch, YouTube, and/or Twitter, as appropriate.
The coverage is not intended as judgement or shaming in any way.
  • Evolving Credits: False occasionally updates his outros utilizing on-screen assets that artists release from time to time to be used on VTuber streams.
    • Particularly noticeable in the outros in June 2021; there were a sizable number of assets being released at that time, including hot tubsnote  and "legs up on desk" assets. For several episodes, FalseEyeD would keep adding more and more of these assets to the outro screen, making viewers wonder when he'd hit critical mass. The outro would revert back to (somewhat) normal after episode 100.
    • He did this again in October 2021, this time with Halloween-themed assets. The outro reverted back to normal at the end of the month.
  • Hilarious Outtakes: Some videos end with clips of one or more of the hosts blowing line reads and/or making funny comments about their mistakes or what they've just read.
  • Hypocritical Humor: False usually followed up the final ground rule—not intended as judgement or shaming—with something along the lines of "Okay, time to get down to that judgement and shaming!"
  • Literal Split Personality: On the 100th episode, False introduced his more human-looking "android" avatar, but noted that his traditional robot avatar would still be around. Come episode 101, both avatars were in use, with the robot referred to as "False" and the android as "EyeD", and both were snarking at each other regularly.
  • Running Gag:
    • Whenever False mentions Lumi in a video, expect him to say "Awoo!"
    • False will also put on false disgust whenever he says "Male Vtubers".
    • If False is reading a piece of media and it includes "false" in the text, after he says it there'll be a quick cut to a close-up of him as he says "Hello!" and then he'll continue with the reading.
    • Co-Dee's introductory "Co-Hai-Yo!" when False turns the reporting over to him.
  • Signature Transition: Typical TVS episodes start with False making a blurb-like statement about the first news topic he's going to cover, then changing to a more typical news program-type setup to start the actual discussion about the topic. Prior to the debut of his Live2D model, he would also make the "box" or "ball holding" hand gestures while saying the opening statement.
