The Barney Bunch as a community are a sometimes-loosely-sometimes-closely affiliated group of people on YouTube and other sites who make Speakonia-narrated videos about the exploits of Drew Pickles, Barney, The Wiggles, Ronald McDonald (better known as the Penis Clown), and other fictional characters, food mascots, and even celebrities, completely changed into extremely promiscuous homosexual men who regularly do unspeakable things. Originally having started out as a trolling group on Newgrounds in 2005, by the time it migrated to YouTube in 2006, it evolved into an ever changing community of users, with several 'wars' within the community throughout the late 2000s to mid-2010s.

The basis is to get a childhood cartoon character, food mascot, or celebrity (for example: Snagglepuss, Lucky the Leprechaun, or The Jonas Brothers) and make them talk about their extreme homosexuality. No information whatsoever is needed on the character, and not even Pablo Sanchez is immune. As a result, Hilarity ensues. No matter what your opinion is on the Bunch, whether you think they're a good Stealth Parody of exploitation of common gay stereotypes or just tasteless, you've seen at least one of their videos in your lifetime.

A few years back, some members of the community also trolled FanFiction.Net with fanfics that were done in the same way. They disappeared after a few months, though some higher quality fics have been written in the years since.

In its later years, the Barney Bunch community was split between VidLii, a website designed to mimic the late 2000s YouTube layout, and YouTube. The Barney Bunch in the mid-late 2010s is noticeably different than the Barney Bunch of years past, as users such as Blood, Skewt, and Life Or Death spearheaded an eschewal of the classic BB video styles (such as the "Drew Pickles Goes To" videos) in favor of more outrageous, raw, spammy videos, but by the 2020s the old style has been returning, and new, story-driven videos have surfaced as well.

  • All Gays Are Pedophiles:
  • All Gays are Promiscuous: Every character depicted as gay is willing to have sex with everyone who's male.
  • Anachronism Stew:
    • These videos probably take place in the present day, yet as a child, Drew (according to his profile) masturbated to The Wiggles, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Dragon Tales. He also got a computer with the internet at age 11.
    • During the time Drew went to Skull Castle, Drew meets Splash Woman and pukes all over her. Thing is, Drew used a NES to get to Skull Castle, and Mega Man 9, the game Splash Woman appears in, released in 2008 on the Nintendo Wii.
  • Anatomically Impossible Sex: A hallmark of these videos. Drew Pickles' penis, for example, is 300 miles long, and Barney's testicles are said to be "hairy"; the latter is lampshaded in-universe with him saying "before you ask how a dinosaur has hairy testicles, remember to never question swell gay anatomy." In one video Drew wraps his penis around two other characters "like a glittery homosexual anaconda" and "moves it around like an elephant trunk" while he carries them with it.
  • Art Shift: Some people make animated videos in Flash rather than simple videos in Windows Movie Maker, but Windows Movie Maker is still the preferred tool for virtually every current BB video user.
  • Artifact Title: Drew Pickles is more associated with the Barney Bunch than even its namesake. If the videos on VidLii are anything to go by, it seems as if The Wiggles have become even more popular to use than the aforementioned two.
  • Artistic License – History: A common complaint on videos with real people (usually historical figures or criminals) is that "___ wasn't/weren't gay!". The people who complain about this often are unfamiliar with the genre.
  • Ass Shove: Assorted characters, mostly Drew Pickles, will use anything as a dildo, and announcing they are doing so. One Wiggles video even has them "shoving dildis up our ass like dildis".
  • Ax-Crazy: Drew Pickles will kill and/or rape anyone who angers him depending on their gender.
  • Bears Are Bad News: Yogi Bear and Fatty Bear, who claim to be gayer than Drew Pickles.
  • Berserk Button: Drew Pickles has a lot:
    • He does not like waiting lines. He'll also rape anyone who calls him a sick fuck.
    • He breaks the fourth wall to express his displeasure over those who depict him as bisexual.
    • If one claims to be gayer than Drew, he will rape them in the ass very hard or even banish them to Hell in Screw Pickles' case.
    • The mere existence of women and heterosexuals is this to the BB but most in particular the Wiggles.
    • This video shows that Drew goes into a massive rage when people produce misinformation about the Bunch.
  • Black Comedy Rape: One of the main drivers of Barney Bunch videos is this.
  • Butt-Monkey: Anybody that dares to screw with Barney Bunch members. The Manager is a major example of this to Drew Pickles, almost always getting raped at the end of a "Drew Pickles Goes To" video.
    • Chas Finster is Drew & Barney's personal butt-monkey, as stated by Drew himself.
  • Canon Foreigner:
    • Screw Pickles, Drew Pickles' son who was banished to the deepest level of Hell for being gayer than Drew.
    • Dick Pickles, Drew's African-American son, in some of the universes.
    • The most prominent one is Drew Pickles Jr., the son of Drew & Barney. He's basically just Drew Pickles' head with a longer nose on Barney's body.
    • Swellmix, a creation of the Bunch using the mixed DNA of Drew, Barney, and Ronald McDonald who rebelled and nearly caused an apocalypse.
  • Cast Full of Gay: There are virtually no BB characters who were homosexual in their original incarnation. Even the notoriously evangelical Ned Flanders got turned gay.
    • Hell, even the Ambiguously Gay character that is James has been written into the Barney Bunch's shenanigans.
  • Catchphrase: "Bag, that was swell.", although this has declined in usage along with the usage of Drew himself.
    • In the Rugrats Gag Dubs by Bigboyrats, the standard title card sequence would then end with the background patterns flashing continuously (looped from the Season 3 episode title cards), to which Drew in voice-over would comment "Bag, the patterns are swell" before introducing the episode.
    • The "official" Drew Pickles Facebook page has gathered flak for being so bowdlerized that the only status updates it posts are G-rated jokes about the word "swell." Occasionally a Barney Bunch member will post a typically NSFW comment related to the Barney Bunch on that page, but it is swiftly removed.
    • Ronald McDonald greets people with "Ran ran ru, and how do you do".
    • Dick the Clown's is "Hallo hallo kiddies".
    • Betty DeVille greets viewers with "Hello my delightfully darling dykes".
    • The Manager always says "what the fuck is going on here?" when Drew's shenanigans reaches its climax.
  • Censor Box: Sometimes used when characters have sex.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome:
    • Joey the Autistic Retard, a Forced Meme character made out of a kid featured in a TLC show whose clip of him wrestling with a relative was featured in the controversial "Drew Pickles Autism Documentary" video by Prime8NStuff. He was then included in the list of "butt-buddies and sex slaves" in a couple videos and then was abandoned and barely used again, mainly after some users breathed fire over the video.
    • The Singing Barack Obama Doll, depicted as a member of the Bunch often during the Barack Obama presidency, is another character who fell victim to this trope.
    • Maid Marian, another long-forgotten adversary of the Bunch. Justified in that one video had Drew shoot her.
    • The M-San Bunch, an ally organization from an older iteration of the BB universe. They were common on a older ShoutWiki iteration of the Barney Bunch Wiki (one that heavily favored Grunge music to almost religious levels, for some reason), but disappeared soon after.
    • This video lampshades it with the "House of Forgotten Barney Bunch Members" led by BJ.
  • Corrupt the Cutie: It doesn't matter who you are or how innocent you were in your source material. If you're added to the Barney Bunch, you'll become as depraved as everyone else included.
  • Crossover Relatives: McDonald's mascot Ronald McDonald's brother is an illustration of a clown of unknown origin given the Fan Nickname "Dick the Clown".
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Drew Pickles and the Wiggles are notorious for causing this.
  • Deconstruction: Compared to GoAnimate, there's been very few attempts at deconstructing the usual Barney Bunch video formats:
  • Depending on the Writer: The Barney Bunch video making community is really quite fractioned at the end of the day, and nobody has really figured, or bothered to figure out and settle upon a true lore, depiction or even sexuality for its characters. Here are some examples:
    • For some reason, Drew Pickles tends to be a lot of users' Author Avatar, and will like or dislike things depending on the video's maker. This leads to inconsistencies, like him being a fan of or hating Halo. Some users like Blood have been known to figuratively play jump rope with this trope, for example the now-terminated (and for good reasons, even by BB standards) DrewPicklesisSwell1957, whose Drew Pickles commentary videos had him against things like DeviantArt.
    • This also goes for the video maker's attitude toward the topics - some Barney Bunch videos with characters from other media or real life will be affectionate parodies, while others will be made due to the maker's hate for the character.
    • How much the characters dislike women can vary, from them wanting to destroy TVs if a woman is on the screen to merely being indifferent (The videos by the creator Blood often are this) to even being bisexual! However, in the latter case, Barney Bunch members are usually depicted as willing to punish other members in various cruel ways if they do end up engaging in sexual activity with a woman, or even come into contact with a woman in any way, whether it be by accident or not.
    • The Betty Bunch's relationship with the Barney Bunch is really inconsistent - sometimes they're enemies, sometimes they're neutral allies or Vitriolic Best Buds (though in recent years it's more and more becoming the latter).
    • Stu Pickles ranges from being a flaming homosexual to being a bisexual foot fetishist. This actually led to a semi-dispute between videomakers in the mid-2010s.
    • Drew Pickles ranges from being openly hostile to social justice warriors, to being a self-aware Stealth Parody of social justice himself.
    • He also ranges from being openly hostile against pedophiles, to committing pedophilia himself (Characters like the 14 year old Gurio Umino/Melvin Butlers, 8-year-old Arthur Read, 4-year-old Caillou, and the 3-year-old Elmo are members of the Bunch, so there's that, too).
    • Drew Pickles also ranges from being against fetishes commonly used by say, DeviantArt fetish artists, to being open to partaking in them.
    • And it gets a lot more inconsistent with old technology - the Bunch range from encouraging trolling towards so-called nostalgiatards to using old technology such as VHS camcorders and record players in everyday life (one long-gone Drew Pickles goes to video wherein he visits the DiC logo had him note that he's "a 90's guy and only uses VHS").
    • This even extends to the character's voices. While it is common to use Microsoft Sam for Drew's voice, many of the Barney Bunch's earlier works from around 2006-2008 leaned towards using Adult Male #1.
      • Barney in particular is infamous for this too. Some videos make it Microsoft Mike to accompany Drew's Microsoft Sam, while others feature Speakonia's Adult Male #4 or #5 on the lowest pitch to be more like the actual Barney's voice actors (mainly Bob West or Dean Wendt). Lately, Barney's voice has been Microsoft Sam's at the lowest pitch, and, in videos by IronYoshi1212, slowed down.
      • Same with Stu's voice. Some users use Microsoft Mike for the same reason, but after Bigboyrats used Adult Male #7 in his dubs, that voice has been used a lot, too.
    • The line Drew Pickles waits in front of consists of either ethnic stereotypes and slurs or the kind of people who would appear at the situation at hand. Or both.
    • Drew's bowel movements range from normal if excessive to ungodly extreme and loud, as in something like this.
    • If a restaurant employee does accept Drew's order, Drew will either be extremely grateful someone will give him his disgusting meal or upset that they aren't following the formula. In the case of the former reaction, he'll either not rape them or rape them anyway.
    • The Teletubbies are very infamous for the fact their roles are very inconsistent, as Po and Laa-Laa are females in the actual Teletubbies series, some people turn them into males so they can fit right in with the rest of the bunch, while others make them into lesbians.
    • When it comes to the spelling of Stu Pickle’s group, some people spell it as “Ketchum Klan”, while others spell it like “Ketchum Clan”, the possible reason why some people spell the group as “clan” is because the spelling “klan” may lead people into mistaking it for a hate group known as the Ku Klux Klan.
    • The Betty Bunch is either slightly more reasonable or at least more civilized than the Barney Bunch or just as depraved as them.
    • If Drew ever does anything heroic by going up against someone evil or someone infamous in real life, he's either doing it for the right reasons or doing it with no heroic motives. On the morality side of things, he's either the "hero", the lesser of two evils, or just as bad as them.
  • Depraved Bisexual: Stu Pickles is portrayed as bisexual by some users, but doing this will generally lead to the rest of the fandom calling for your head on a silver platter.
  • Depraved Homosexual: All gay characters are willing to rape men or molest children to satisfy their sexual desires.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: A staple of Barney Bunch videos. One notable instance is Drew Pickles going to a Pizza Hut, slicing a employee’s penis off, having customers trample each other to death, raping the manager to death and eating his corpse, and then finally burning the place down simply because they wouldn’t make his super swell pizza.
  • Domestic Abuser: Drew Pickles is often depicted as an abusive partner to Barney. The abuse ranges from treating him like a child and grounding him for minor offenses, or outright beating the crap out of him or laughing at him when he gets seriously hurt. This is played for laughs.
  • Double Standard: Rape, Male on Male: There doesn't seem to be much concern over Drew and the others raping men.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: The earliest incarnation of the group on Newgrounds really was just a troll group that produced shocking and/or spammy Flash videos meant to piss off viewers. It wasn't until the move to YouTube where the videos started to have something resembling lore.
  • Egopolis: Drewland, which is either part of the United States or it's own nation. Drew Pickles, of course, is ruler for life.
    • The Betty Bunch is revealed to reside in "Bettysburg".
  • Extreme Omnisexual: As long as it's male, the Barney Bunch will rape it.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
  • Fantastic Slurs: Averted as in many Goes To videos all of the Barney Bunch members often list racial stereotypes (complete with often calling them slurs) as part of "long fucking lines".
  • Fictional Currency: Drew dollars, the currency of Drewland. Drew often tries to use this in places that don't accept it, causing him to react in the way you'd expect when it's inevitabely rejected.
  • For the Evulz: A lot of Barney Bunch characters' motivations can boil down to this.
  • Gambit Roulette: How Drew Pickles' plans of raping men and beating women to death with his penis typically work out.
  • Gag Penis: Drew's mastodonic 300 mile long cock is probably the most triumphant example. In fact, the actual size of his penis is infinite.
  • Groin Attack: Inverted. Drew often kills women by beating them to death with his 300 mile long penis.
  • Guide Dang It!: The "How to Unlock Drew Pickles" videos, in which Drew gives you instructions on how to unlock him in a video game, have ridiculously specific steps for the process to actually unlocking him and playing as him.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Drew Pickles Jr., the son of Drew and Barney, is essentially Drew's head (with a longer nose) on Barney's body.
    • Swellmix is a Cyborg using DNA from Drew Pickles, Barney, and Ronald McDonald.
  • Heh Heh, You Said "X": "Today I come, hahaha cum."
  • Hero Antagonist:
    • Tony Little and the Wishbone Resistance's (yes, the dog's) goal is to save the world from suffering through more of Drew Pickles' homosexual shenanigans.
    • As well as Straight Drew and Nega Drew, who are known for much more moral behavior. Nega Drew in particular wants to destroy the Barney Bunch and stop their shenanigans.
    • The Manager, who's just trying to do his job and kick Drew out of his establishment after he spreads his shenanigans all over the place, up to including murder. As expected, things never go right for said manager.
  • In-Series Nickname: A number of members of the Bunch have these:
    • Barney the "Triple-Testicle Dildosaur".
    • Ronald McDonald's nickname in these videos is "the Penis Clown".
    • The Quaker Queer's is "Cum Oats".
    • Chas Finster's is "The Fister".
    • Howard DeVille's is "The Dildo", causing Drew to shove him up his ass for a prolonged period of time, explaining his absence from Rugrats (2021).
    • Elmo's nickname is "the Testicle Tickler".
    • Arthur "Loves Cocks" Read. Buster Baxter, when he appears, is known as "Ball-Busting Baxter".
    • Cap'n Crunch, the "Sexy Swell Butt-Pirate".
    • Grimace goes by "The Talking Testicle".
  • Insistent Terminology: "Poopy," "bum bum," "dialdough/dildis," "toilet slave," "cummy," etc.
    • Anthropomorphic characters like Arthur and Hip Hop Harry are often referred to as "hamsters", even though Arthur is actually an aardvark and Harry is a bear.
  • I Will Show You X!: If someone calls Drew a "sick fuck" during a video, he will show them the true definition of one.
  • Karma Houdini: All of the Barney Bunch members get away with killing or raping innocent people and causing lots of property damage, and never get any comeuppance for it.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: Drew doesn't always get away with his raping sprees, with videos such as [[Drew Pickles r*** an entire police force]] ending with Drew getting arrested and sent to court, leading to the events of Drew Pickles Goes to a Female Prison.
  • Ladies and Germs: Drew Pickles (and sometimes Angelica) usually addresses crowds as "Lesbians and germs."
  • Lampshade Hanging: Later videos have more self-aware humor. The Rugrats Gag Dubs by Bigboyrats do this a lot, including pointing out some of the usual cliches of the series (such as having Drew comment on how the Rugrats episodes always open with some kind of weird closeup.)

  • Lovable Sex Maniac: Pretty much everyone, though the "lovable" part may vary.
  • Mega Crossover: Alongside the loads of characters, they've been from loads of series.
  • Mind Screw: Several videos tend to dabble in this to varying degrees such as Drew raping his original (and Chaz's) voice actor or going into a different Drew Pickles video and raping it.
  • Mister Seahorse: It was Barney who gave birth to Drew Pickles Jr.
  • No Fourth Wall: To the point where it's frequently lampshaded.
  • Older Than They Look: In some videos, Drew claims to be 60 years old, despite appearing to be in his mid to late 30's.
  • Only Sane Man:
    • Drew sometimes takes this role in certain videos.
    • The manager, who is trying to do his job and has every right to kick Drew and/or the Barney Bunch members out of his establishment for causing widespread chaos. Drew, of course, never takes kindly to his demands.
  • Papa Wolf: Drew and Barney are very protective of Drew Pickles Jr. when he gets threatened.
  • Persecution Flip: The Barney Bunch is completely 100 per fucking cent opposed to heterosexuality at any cost.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: The Barney Bunch, especially Drew himself, will kill women by beating them to death with their cocks simply for being women, as well as referring to minorities in long lines as various slurs and offensive stereotypes.
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: Before Drew rapes the manager after they call him a sick fuck, he will say “I’ll show you the true definition of a sick fuck!”
  • Psycho Lesbian: Any member of the Betty Bunch is a lesbian who's nuts (this depends on the videomaker though).
  • Reality Warper: Since no logic exists in these videos, Drew Pickles can, more or less, do anything he wants even if it is logically impossible including using abstract concepts as dildis or traveling to places that are either not around anymore or don't technically exist.
  • Running Gag:
    • At some point in almost every "Drew Pickles Goes to..." video, the manager of the establishment steps out of his office and says something along the lines of "what the fuck is going on here?" Drew proceeds to rape the manager. Lampshaded in a few videos which take place at schools, churches or other places - a character will threaten to get the manager, after which Drew will rape said character and comment something along the lines of "There's no manager at a [school/church/hospital/library/etc.], you dumb little shit." Conversely, this is also such a standard part of the videos that sometimes places which don't normally have managers have them anyway, just to make the video match the normal pattern.
    • No matter what kind of line it is, if it has people who would logically be there or various stereotypes, it will always contain at least some Mexicans.
    • If Chas Finster appears in a video, it's always a guarantee that something will get shoved up his ass.
  • Saying Sound Effects Out Loud: A frequent trait of Barney Bunch videos. For instance, whenever the Barney Bunch drive anywhere, one of them will say "vroom vroom vroom vroom vroom", and the act of smacking someone will be accompanied by one of them saying "smack smack smack smack".
  • Stock Footage: Characters are simply represented by promotional images of themselves. Both images of the characters and locations tend to be found via Google Image Search.
  • Stock Scream: Chas uses the stock scream used in Tom and Jerry and other MGM cartoons whenever he gets violated.
  • Straw Misogynist: If Drew's severe hatred of women doesn't make him one, then what does?
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Dick Pickles is essentially an African-American version of Drew.
    • Drew Pickles Jr. is Drew's head on Barney's body.
  • Stylistic Suck: Most users (those in the Renaissance era onwards anyway) were well aware of the crude production of the videos and intentionally played into it, with a lot of their visuals poorly drawn in Microsoft Paint.
  • Synthetic Voice Actor: Everyone. The general consensus is that Drew Pickles is voiced by Microsoft Sam, but other than that, it really depends on the video maker.
    • With the launch of Uberduck.ai and its ability to make TTS voices out of already-existing characters, videos such as this one feature the actual voices of the Bunch. This video is an Uberduck remake of the original Drew Pickles video with the signature drawn stillframe, ending with a clip of Drew from Rugrats with Microsoft Sam's voice telling the viewer they've been watching too many cartoons.
  • Take That!: Some videos have a unflattering take on a subject that goes beyond the simple "Drew rapes it and/or smacks it to death" and provides genuine criticisms, or at least as motivation for Drew's shenanigans for the video. Some topics including NFTs, the Epic Games Store, or Butch Hartman.
  • To Be a Master: Drew Pickles gets angry when someone claims to be gayer than him. He later began competing with Yogi Bear to be the gayest thing ever. While Drew is gayer, Yogi is a sicker fuck. They'll have to team up to take down the even gayer Humongous Bunch, though.
  • Toilet Humor: In addition to jokes about the characters' homosexuality, many Barney Bunch videos delve into this kind of humor.
  • Too Kinky to Torture: Drew will shove anything, including explosives, whole human beings and other things which would be ridiculously painful, up his ass.
  • Units Not to Scale: Drew Pickles' penis is supposedly 300 miles long. However, in some videos where it is visible, it appears to be much smaller. Justified, as it has been stated that Drew can make it as big or small as he needs it to be.
  • Villain Protagonist: Drew Pickles (after all, he does rape lots of men and kill lots of women with little or no provocation), to the point where even both The Antagonist and The Postal Dude would be hiding their heads in shame.
