LS Mark (Web Video)

Mark McConville (born March 29, 2002) or LS Mark as he's better known, is an Irish born YouTuber who joined the platform in 2014. Beginning in 2018 and to the present, his videos consist of analytical videos and reviews, in which he talks about various works, particularly animated works and works he grew up with, such as the Sonic the Hedgehog series and the works of Butch Hartman, though his videos tend to cover a wide range of topics.

He also has a second channel, launched in 2020, in the form of Splash Dash, in which he covers a wide variety of topics related to Sonic the Hedgehog.

He also has a Twitter account in which he posts on a regular basis, as well as an secondary Twitter dedicated to his art.

LS Mark is also the creator of Catching Up, with the Pilot episode having released on September 8th of 2024.

LS Mark's videos discuss and contain the following examples.

  • Accentuate the Negative: Subverted. Although he has gained a reputation for being harsh towards works he dislikes, he generally tries to view both the positives and negatives of a work instead of focusing purely on the negatives.
  • Author Appeal:
    • He makes it no secret that he is a fan of the Sonic the Hedgehog series and many of his videos tend to be Sonic related, which he has lamp-shaded a few times. He eventually created a second channel — Splash Dash — dedicated specifically to Sonic content.
    • He tends to frequently discuss the works of Butch Hartman on his channel, most notably The Fairly OddParents!. Like with Sonic, he has lamp-shaded this.
    • He is also a big fan of The Simpsons and has covered the show quite a few times, to where he made a 6 hour video ranking every episode of the show, as of January 2021.
    • He was also a fan of Family Guy in its early years and pre-Flanderization Brian and tends to bring both up in his videos. He has also made a similar video to The Simpsons where he goes over every single Family Guy episode as of December 2021.
    • SpongeBob SquarePants is another show he holds in high regard, at least for its first three seasons. Again, he made a video ranking every episode as of July 2022.
    • South Park is another one commonly featured, and as such, also received it's own ranking video as of December 2022.
    • Music from the mainline Shin Megami Tensei games tends to show up in his videos, implying that he's a fan of the series.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Mark usually speaks in a semi-deadpan tone of voice, tends to be sarcastic and tends to make snarky remarks.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: His earlier videos were far more rant-oriented than his current videos tend to be and it wasn’t until 2018-2019 that he would develop into his current style, which itself has been redefined in the years since. He makes it clear that he is not proud of them.
  • Extra-Long Episode: His ranking videos, which on average are 5 hours long. As of 2025, he has ranked all episodes of The Simpsons in January 2021, every Disney/Pixar film (up to Luca) and Family Guy episode in June and December of the same year respectively, every SpongeBob SquarePants episode and South Park episode in July and December 2022, every The Fairly OddParents! episode in July 2023, every Regular Show, American Dad!, and Futurama episode in January, July, and December of 2024 respectively, and every The Cleveland Show episode in April 2025.
    • While not a ranking video in the vein of these other videos, his Five Nights at Freddy's video ranking every book based on the series from October 2022 can also be counted as such.
  • It Will Never Catch On: At the end of Mark's video about Seth Mcfarlane's film career, he mentions the then upcoming Ted series which he sarcastically states "will go swimmingly". When the show came out it was critically praised by many people, including himself.
  • Jerkass Ball: This is one of the main reasons why he thinks Family Guy has declined as much as it did, due to the show gradually stripping away most of the characters' likable traits for the sake of conflict or comedy, making them all unlikable pricks in the process.
  • Pet-Peeve Trope: Mark has made it clear he HATES Anthology episodes and films, particularly the ones that are non-canon as he makes them feel like it’s a waste of time. Mark further clarifies in his ranking of every Regular Show episode that this disdain is partially the result of how often The Simpsons would rerun Treehouse of Horror at the expense of any canonical episodes.
  • Running Gag:
    • His second channel, Splash Dash being the channel of Mark's "best friend" is a frequent gag in his videos.
    • Unless he needs a specific soundclipnote , whenever Mark uses footage from a Markiplier video the webcam footage is for some reason replaced with a loop of the guy breaking down in tears.
    • I Read EVERY Five Nights at Freddy's Book
      • Every child death is represented by a Minecraft explosion.
      • Finding different ways to point out the overuse of characters having deceased fathers.
    • Brian Griffin being hidden in a video's thumbnail.
    • Ranking EVERY American Dad! Episode Ever
      • The sudden cutaways to a pizza tutorial.
      • Mark's reactions to the show repeatedly using a background character who looks extremely similar to his Author Avatar.
    • "THE MOUSE", a smiling, hairless rat accompanied by the first few notes of "Blue Topaz" from Rave Racer, from Ranking EVERY Disney & Pixar Movie Ever.
    • Whenever the clip of Brian getting hit by the car is played, it gets glitchier with each video.
  • Spell My Name with a "The": In his review for A Minecraft Movie, he always refers to it as "The A Minecraft Movie."
  • Stylistic Suck: When parodying something, Mark does a deliberately very poor quality version of the subject he's talking about. One example is when he comments about the Sonic Fanbase and the prologue is a spoof of the type of videos discussing the same subject, with amateur editing, a poorly-drawn version of his avatar and lack of meaningful information.
