CDTV Productions, a.k.a. CDTV Tha G, a.k.a. IAMJAYCE, is a Scottish YouTuber known for his rap-centric content. He is known for "Worst Rappers in the Game", an ongoing ranking of rappers considered to be the worst in the game and his Top Ten lists, including Best and Fastest verses.

His main channel is here and his reaction channel is here.

And with that, guys, we're going to be listing my tropes.

  • Accentuate the Negative: His top 10 Worst Hit Rap song lists and album lists do exactly this. While he does bring up things he liked about the songs or albums he mainly focuses on why he doesn't like the song or album he is talking about
  • Actually Pretty Funny: Downplayed; the name Wankeagle gave him a giggle, a.k.a. 90% of his enjoyment of an entire Soulja Boy album.
  • A Rap Game Half Full: Seems to be his view on the MCs in Worst Rappers in the game. While he has to listen to a lot of crap and has only found nine rappers that surpassed a 30/50 under the old rating system note , he's still been able to find enjoyable songs from the majority of entries, holds that many have room for growth, and continues to hope that someday he will review a lyrical rapper in the segment.
  • Ascended Meme: In the introduction of his "Poorly Aged Rap Lyrics" series the comments would make fun of the way CDTV says the word poorly due to his accent. CDTV in part 3 of the series mentioned how he got a comment saying he should make a series called "Pearly Aged Rap Lyrics" about lyrics that aged well in rap and that he might actually do that, which he ends up doing one year later.
  • Birthday Episode: IAMJAYCE released his first single, "19," on CDTV's birthday. 2 Chainz's "Birthday Song" this ain't.
  • Blatant Lies: Claiming CDTV Tha G and IAMJAYCE are the identical brethren of CDTV Productions.
  • Day in the Limelight: Played with and played with an inversion. He has four videos on good songs by bad rappers(rap songs he likes from rappers he doesn't like) and three videos on bad songs by good rappers(rap songs he doesn't like from artist he does like), as well as Best Verses videos for Trippie Redd, XXXTentacion, and Lil Pump, who respectively hold the 20th, 23rd, and 25th slots in his Worst Rappers in the Game list. He has also done Bad Albums by great rappers(Albums he doesn't like from rappers he does) and Good Albums by bad rappers(Albums he considered higher quality from rappers he doesn't like)
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: He used to make content about movies and video games; while he has deleted these videos, references to them remain in older videos' descriptions, and his gaming channel's shell is still online.
  • Formula-Breaking Episode:
    • Normally, for his end of year lists he simply does 4 top 10 videos for his best and worst hit rap songs and best and worst albums and only covers the 10 song/albums featured on that list. However in 2021, he instead made a video reviewing every hit rap song that charted in the top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart and then did the standard top 10 at the end. He did something very similar for his 2021 end of year album list, where he put every 2021 rap album he listened to on a tier list before doing the standard top 10.
    • For 2023, instead of doing two separate videos on the top 10 Best and Worst Albums of 2023, he instead did two top 5 Best and Worst albums of 2023 and combined them into one video as a very last-minute change since he didn't find 2023 to be a great year for rap.
  • Friendly Enemies: Not too furious, but fellow rap YouTuber GulleyBoy had some words when CDTV put some of Gulley's favorite diss tracks ("Black Friday" by Lil' Kim, "Slim Anus" by Insane Clown Posse, "F*** Compton" by Tim Dog) on his worst diss tracks list. Not much came of it, though their opinions were fairly divergent on hip-hop. When GulleyBoy released a video on how YouTube demonetized his entire channel because of his old rap-based content, CDTV expressed his sympathy.
  • From Bad to Worse: So far, there have been two immediate successions of Worst Rapper in the Game: Lil Uzi Vert to 21 Savage and XXXTentacion to Soulja Boy. He's also declared multiple rappers (Soulja Boy, Lil Pump, Lil Xan, Kid Buu)completely or nearly void of lyrical merit. So far, he's still confident that Soulja is the worst rapper in the game as he is still dead last in his list of every rapper featured in Worst rappers in the game.
  • Guilty Pleasure: He used to think that Rae Sremmurd was his guilty pleasure artist. Now Nav is his current guilty pleasure.
  • Hypocrisy Callout: He does this at the start of his track by track review of Gravestones video calling out Tom MacDonald for saying that his music is fair use and that anyone can use his music in their videos/streams yet issues a copyright strike at CDTV for his Ghostories review because he didn't like what he had to say about it and called the video "slanderous and inaccurate".
  • Most Wonderful Sound: He loves his piano-based beats.
  • Never Bareheaded: To date, he has never been seen without a hat.
  • Orphaned Series: His Mindz Collide podcast only ran for 5 episodes before both Blacky and CDTV agreed to cancel the series to continue making their own content.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: In his segment on the death of XXXTentacion, he is obviously shaken up and not at all employing his usual meme-like style.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here!:
    • His view on heterosexuality if girls exist who enjoy Lil Xan.
    • He said that if Kream by Iggy Azalea or Whole Lotta Money by BIA play at a club that he would leave.
  • Take That!:
    • His Soulja Boi's best verses video didn't feature any actual verses from Soulja Boi and instead just featured CDTV doing the hook of Crank Dat poorly with autotune and featuring the verse from "Kendrick LaBoi" verse 1 of Crank Disnote  before "praising" Soulja Boi's song Crank Dat with intentionally misspelt words as "Here come dat boi" played in the background before ending the video
    • His top 10 worst hit rap songs and worst rap albums end of year lists point out the bad rap songs that charted on the billboard hot 100 and the worst rap albums to come out in the year in his opinion.
  • Tempting Fate: Soon after creating a video about how Tyga has disappeared from the music world, "Taste" began jumping up the Billboard Hot 100 and eventually made it to the top 10.
  • Ur-Example: His worst rapper in the game episode of Ice Spice was his first episode in the series to cover a female rapper
  • Violent Glaswegian: Averted; he's more Adorkable than anything, often calm and somewhat easily flustered.
  • You Are What You Hate: CDTV generally finds British accents less suited to rap than American accents with some exceptions, yet his "identical triplet" IAMJAYCE raps with a heavy Scottish accent.
  • Younger Than They Look: He himself claimed that he was often assumed to be in his mid-20s when he blew up despite only being 18-19 when he started. However, he actually is in his mid-20s as of 2023 (he turned 25 that year), and hasn't significantly changed since his start, so he pretty much looks his age now.
  • Xtreme Kool Letterz: His short lived Mindz Collides podcast with Blacky Speakz had a z at the end of minds
