Bride Has Massive Hair Wig Out is a YouTube video that went viral in 2007. It achieved over 2 million views after only a couple of weeks (due to numerous copying and sharing). It was widely thought to be real - until the four women participating in it came clean and revealed it was shot as part of a marketing campaign. Sunsilk's brand of haircare products wanted to play on the phrase "Wig out" as a marketing strategy. YMMV on how well that turned out, because the video arguably received more attention than the Sunsilk brand.
The video is six minutes long. It features a bride coming into her hotel room, clearly stressed about her wedding. She is unhappy with the hairstyle she has been given and cuts her hair off in a fit of rage. The video can be viewed here.
Provides examples of:
- Boyish Short Hair: After the cut, Jodi wails that she looks like a boy now.
- Traumatic Haircut: Two examples. Jodi hates the curly hairstyle she's been given for her wedding and then hacks her hair off - and freaks out after regretting it.
- What the Hell, Hero?: More than once the others yell at Ingrid for filming everything. A good portion of the Youtube viewers reacted this way to someone apparently broadcasting a friend's meltdown for the world to see.
