Brent Rivera (Web Video)

Brent Rivera is an American YouTuber known for his prank, skit and music videos. He does a variety of content and has gone on to make television appearances as a result of his fame.

Born on January 9, 1998, he is the third oldest of four siblings. Out of his family, his sister Lexi has the most recurring appearances in his vlogs.

Brent's rise to fame began on Vine back in 2013, where his short-form videos managed to ascend the algorithm and receive a lot of hits. With the closure of the site, Brent found vlogging videos on YouTube to be his bread and butter, steadfastly uploading videos every week, most of which were primarily comedic in tone. He has since gone on to amass over 39 million subscribers and maintains an extremely successful online presence today.

His videos have examples of:

  • The Diss Track: Brent wrote an entire diss about his sister Lexi, SISTER DISS TRACK, calling her out for being an annoying brat nobody likes who also has no talent of her own.
  • Goofy Print Underwear: In "When You're Alone on Valentine's Day", as Brent is dancing, he bends over so far he reveals his polka dotted underwear.
  • Hippie Parents: In "NORMAL PARENTS VS MY PARENTS | Brent Rivera", the "normal" parent encourages her son to "party like crazy" because he's still young and hasn't explored the real world yet. She also buys the son and his friend iPhones.
  • Mama Bear: In "NORMAL PARENTS VS MY PARENTS | Brent Rivera", Brent's mom is suspicious of him going out with his friend Jimmy (despite knowing him for 8 years) and accuses him of doing drugs. She is then revealed to have planted a tracking device on him.
  • Naked People Are Funny: One of Brent's videos had him make Mason walk around in his underwear around the neighborhood, with both pretending that he had clothes on.
  • Parental Favoritism: In "SISTER DISS TRACK", Brent claims this of his parents. He says that because he's more talented and handsome, they prefer him to all their other kids.
  • Refuge in Audacity: In "EXTREME DARES IN PUBLIC! | Brent Rivera" Brent and Mason kiss and lick the supermarket's mannequins, in public, not caring about being caught.
  • Shipping Torpedo: In "SISTER DISS TRACK", Brent brags about how he intervened in Lexi and Ben's relationship, barring Ben from seeing her because of his Big Brother Instinct.
  • Sibling Rivalry: Brent and Lexi frequently dig at the other's insecurities and compare themselves to one another. In SISTER DISS TRACK Brent claims their parents love him more.
  • Shout-Out: In "EXTREME DARES IN PUBLIC! | Brent Rivera" Brent pushes a shopping cart while Mason stands with his arms outstretched, homaging the scene of Rose doing the same from Titanic (1997).
  • The Team: Brent (The Leader), Ben (The Lancer), Mason (the Best Friend) and Lexi (the Token Girl) are on, collaborating for music videos and prank challenges.
  • Teacher's Unfavorite Student: In "I WENT BACK TO 5TH GRADE FOR A DAY" Brent quickly becomes this to the teacher as a result of messing with the lab equipment and causing an explosion that leaves char on his face. She gives him a good berating for his irresponsibility.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: The video "I WENT BACK TO 5TH GRADE FOR A DAY" is one to the movie Billy Madison, which is about a mentally challenged adult who goes back to school to attain his diploma. Brent's video, however, only covers him going to one grade.
