Bistro Huddy is a short-form Work Com web-series started in 2020, created and written by Drew Talbert and Andrea Kelley, starring Drew Talbert as every character. Set in the titular restaurant, it revolves around work lives of the staff and various frequent and not customers.
The series is known for relatable humor, as almost every episode is based around something that really happened to Drew during his 23 years of experience as server, and great character work, every character is believable and grounded, yet interesting, supported by acting so good, you'll forget it's all just one man and won't notice the five o'clock shadow on female characters.
The series is available on Drew's TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.
Tropes featured in Bistro Huddy include:
- Affectionate Nickname: Joey calls Bridgette "Bridgey-Boo" on one occasion.
- The Alcoholic: Brad during the Early-Installment Weirdness would be seen drinking on the job and described as “always drunk” by Nicole, even actually drinking alcohol during a PSA about cutting off intoxicated guests.
- Bad Boss: While he has his moments
, Terry is described as "The Asshole" in the Manager Types
video. - Blatant Lies:
- Blind Date: Bistro Huddy is the location of a few of these.
- One seems to be going quite well, right up until Brad takes their order

- Bunny-Ears Lawyer: While a bit ditzy and prone to distraction, Pickles is still a competent enough chef to hold his own in the Bistro kitchen.
- Butt-Monkey: Pickles for the kitchen, Aaron for front of house ... and the kitchen.
- Catchphrase: Tim and Pam have a couple.
- "Roll Tide".
- The frequency at which they call for Terry makes his name one for them, to the point where it's a square on the staff Bingo boards.
Brad: Do you wanna say it or should I?
Tim: I'll say it! Terry! Terry! - Christmas Enthusiast: Pickles keeps a Santa Hat in his back pocket just in case he catches the Christmas Spirit. It's contagious
. - Defeat Equals Friendship: The kitchen staff finally come to respect Aaron when he blows up at all of them after one insult too many.
- Double Standard: In How Cooks Answer Questions
, the cooks berate a male server for asking a question but are very sweet to new server Nicole.- Subverted in a later video, it's revealed that the cooks are nice when Bridgette and Brad ask questions because they bring the kitchen snacks, but are aggressive and rude to Aaron and Nicole.
- Drama Club: One of the early guests
. - Dressed to Cook: The back of house staff, naturally as they work in a kitchen.
- Drinking on Duty: Oscar can be seen drinking a margharita while washing the dishes
. - Dropped After the Pilot: How Servers Greet You
(part 1) features several different servers. Bridgette, Aaron and Nico (though he's a server and not a cook) appear in the series proper, and Greg could be a proto-Brad, but Vicki and Angela never appear again. - Early-Installment Weirdness: The earliest shorts on Drew's YouTube are similar to the Bistro Huddy we know and love, with Talbert playing every character, but appear to be Drew himself as the server.
- Ruby is introduced with pink hair
when she's a natural redhead in the rest of the series. - Brad is mentioned but doesn't physically appear for a few videos.
- Poppy appears with a boyfriend who isn't River
.
- Ruby is introduced with pink hair
- Eating the Eye Candy: Cybill and Madge, two elderly women who hit on Brad, Clint, and later Trip with an intensity that just borders on harassment.
- Embarrassing First Name: Pickles' first name genuinely is "Pickles"

- Even the Guys Want Him: Clint the bartender, especially if you're Terry.
- Faked Food Contaminant: The setup of one early video
, a pink-haired customer finds a hair of the same colour in her food. It turns out to actually be the new kitchen hire. - Fingore: Joey complains that Nico sliced his finger off. He reattached it
.- Exaggerated when comparing how Servers and Cooks react to cuts
.
Joey: Who's finger is this on the floor!? - Exaggerated when comparing how Servers and Cooks react to cuts
- Handsome Lech: Joey can be a creep to the female servers."Oh yeah, Terry, she's a keeper."
- Hired on the Spot: Nico
Pickles
(because Joey was desperate) and Nicole
(because she was desperate).Nicole: So here's what you're gonna do: you're gonna stop asking me these stupid-ass questions, you're gonna notice that my resume is full of Michelin Stars and James Beard award winners, and you're gonna hire me before I come to my senses before I realise that I only applied here because it's walking distance to my apartment and my ex-boyfriend screwed me out of three months rent so I'm desperate.Terry: Okay, let's start you on Sunday!
Nicole: I don't work Sundays. - Hypocrite: Nicole and Terry are the worst ones, but everyone has their moments.
- Hypocritical Humour: Nicole says it's "tacky"
to sleep with another server, but makes out with both Brad and Ruby at the Christmas party.- Nicole saying she can't cover a friend's shift, to immediately complaining that noone covers hers.

- Nicole saying she can't cover a friend's shift, to immediately complaining that noone covers hers.
- Manchild: Pickles, adorable, dopey and loves candy.
- Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: While it could just be that Nico is a good judge of character and has a good pallette, Joey looks a little surprised
when he correctly guesses his secret ingredient after predicting what he'd say and do in the interview. - Mistaken for Flirting: A couple of times
- Bridgette in one of the early pre-Bistro Huddy sketches
.- This is in contrast to an earlier sketch where Greg ''was'' flirting with a customer and ignoring her boyfriend.

- Bridgette in one of the early pre-Bistro Huddy sketches
- Nepotism: Nico's only got a job at Bistro Huddy because he's the owner's nephew.
- Nice Girl: Bridgette is easily the nicest character and the most well liked by her fellow servers and the kitchen staff.
- Not Even Bothering with an Excuse: The servers tend to drop their lies about where tickets and orders went when serving other servers
. - Not So Above It All: While Ruby has what can be called a prickly personality and isn't as chummy as the other chefs are to each other, she still slaps on a fake mustache along with the rest of the staff to poke fun at Terry's Paper-Thin Disguise.
- Odd Friendship: The constantly bumbling Aaron and temperamental Harold get along great, with Harold even saying he “tells Aaron everything” and Aaron sometimes deliberately messing up orders so Oscar can get free food during shifts.
- Prank Date: Played with, Brad and Nicole joke about going out on a date while making fun of a customer
and make plans to do so because it would be "So funny,".Bridgette: Hey girly-girl, how's your night going?
Nicole: ... I think Brad just asked me out. - Shell-Shocked Veteran: Implied to be the case with Oscar.
- Smurfette Principle: Of the back staff, there are four chefs and a dishwasher—Ruby is the only woman on that side of the kitchen door.
- Snark-to-Snark Combat: Poppy frequently engages in this with Nicole.
- Tastes Like Friendship: After Aaron fights back against the kitchen staff Nico offers him some of the quesadilla recipe he's working on.Brad: You'll know it worked if they offer you food.
- Those Two Guys: Out of the back staff Nico and Pickles get paired together the most.
