Beff The Jeff is a two-part musical comedy series by Mario Master 412 originally created as a school project. It follows the titular Beff the Jeff, first as an anti-smoking advertisement, then as he's advertising his general store.
You can watch it here.
This series provides examples of:
- Awkward Silence: In the chorus for Don't Smoke, all of the instruments drop out, and the fast rapping goes from a repeated "don't smoke" every couple seconds.
- Blatant Lies: As Beff the Jeff says "The grass is green/There's not a cloud in the sky", the camera pans to show dead and greyish grass and a sky matted over with clouds.
- Call-Back: In the first video, after the end card, a deleted clip plays that wasn't featured in the actual video. In the second part, after the credits roll, a heavily edited version of that clip plays.
- Character Title: Named after Beff the Jeff.
- Cool Shades: Beff the Jeff sports these. When he loses them in the second part, he's devastated.
- Credits Gag:Random sweater-wearing person that has no correlation to the first part at all - Teddy
Overall lack of humor in this unfunny video - Teddy
Whose fault is this? - Teddy
Running out of ideas - Teddy
The idea to put text on a white and blue background - Teddy - Curse Cut Short:Random Person: Aw, f-(trumpets)
- Establishing Series Moment: Beff the Jeff walks on screen, eats what appears to be straight popcorn cheese, then launches into an intentionally cheesy anti-smoking P.S.A. parody.
- Funny Background Event: When Beff the Jeff buys his sunglasses back, you can see someone in the back saying "these are some yummy sunglasses".
- Gray Rain of Depression: Lampshaded in the second part.(Beff the Jeff walks in the rain, crying)
Random Sweater-Wearing Person That Has No Correlation To The First Part At All: Hey, what're you doin' in the rain?
Beff The Jeff: (through tears) Shut up! This is sad. - Green Screen: Used heavily throughout. The only scene not shot in front of a green screen is the scene outside at the beginning of the second part, when Beff the Jeff is outside.
- He's Back!: Beff the Jeff in the second part after getting his sunglasses back.
- Immediate Self-Contradiction: Done in the first part to make fun of rapper titles.Chester: I'm big boy lil' Chester...
- Miniscule Rocking: Don't Smoke is only 1:47, while Beff the Jeff Shop clocks in at 2:07. That's including dialogue.
- Overly Long Gag: The setup to the second part, where Beff the Jeff stands outside and mourns the loss of his sunglasses, makes up over a minute of the video, which is only 2 minutes and 50 seconds long.
- Parody: The first part is a parody of anti-smoking P.S.A.s.
- Sensory Abuse: The heavily edited clip at the end of the second part can be this, with its overly loud (compared to the rest of the video) music and strange editing.
- Severely Specialized Store: The titular Beff the Jeff Shop, which only sells sunglasses.
- Singing Voice Dissonance: Zig-zagged: Beff the Jeff's rapping voice is much deeper than his speaking voice, but his singing voice is in line with his speaking voice.
- Stylistic Suck: The raps on the first part are intentionally cheesy.
- Take That!: When Beff the Jeff Match Cuts into Charli Damelio, Chester punches him.
- Vocal Range Exceeded: Mario Master 412 hits a B-flat 5 in the second part, and it's insanely high.
- To all of you out there, and Mr. Mancilla, Don't Smoke.
