Alternate Future Of North America (AFONA for short) is a mapping movie by Korean Mapping, in which countries act as characters on a map. It was published on Jun 6, 2018 and can be watched here.

The story starts in 2020, two years after the dissolution of NATO. America, seeking stability in this new world, allies with Canada to create the American Defensive Pact. After establishing the ADB, Canada attacks Denmark to capture Greenland. While okay with it initially, America turns on Canada on the issue, and is preparing to punish them.

Then suddenly, DC is hit with something, and America collapses.

Alternate Future Of North America (Korean Mapping) contains examples of:

  • Balkanize Me: What happens to the countries struck by the weapon, as their communications are completely shut down.
  • Big Bad: Denmark. They killed America with the weapon they bought from Russia, and used it further to try to take over the world.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Exaggerated. Canada early on decides to invade and conquer Greenland from Denmark. Denmark's response? Why, to kill America to make Canada feel the pain of losing something close, and then killing Canada as well.
  • For Want Of A Nail: The reason the whole plot happened? Because Canada attacked Denmark over Greenland.
  • Good Is Not Nice: Maryland. They're rude to almost everyone, especially their neighbor Delaware, but they're firmly on the side of the ADB.
  • Hypocrite: Denmark plans to conquer the world to rid it of betrayal. They ally with the People's Republic of Michigan and tell them to betray their allies, the Houston Association.
  • Knight Templar: Denmark sincerely believes their actions will bring about a world without betrayal, even as they destabilize and devastate countries throughout Europe and America.
  • The Leader: After Canada is killed, California becomes the leader of the ADB, and stays as such for the rest of the movie.
  • Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist: While Denmark genuinely believes they are conquering the world purely to purify it, several characters note that Denmark is doing it less out of ideals and more out of petty revenge for Canada taking Greenland. Tennessee puts it best:
Tennessee: You're no liberator or saint. You're a maniac bent on revenge!
