Magical Island is a webcomic on DeviantArt created by Aaron Brawnstone. It tells the story of a young woman named Angel. She finds out she's a princess and future queen of an unknown kingdom. She goes to the titular island in order to claim it. With the help of her younger sister Blossom and her guardian Aaron, they battle bizarre creatures while trying to stop an evil force corrupting their home.

Magical Island Tropes:

  • Adult Fear: What would happen if you sent your kids to a school which is actually a corrupted island with bizarre creatures and a conceited lord who won't care about the deaths of the students?
  • All There in the Manual: The characters last names are never said in the series. The only way to find their last names is through their character bio.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Aaron and Aki, its never clear if they got their tan from being in the sun too long or if this is their natural skin color.
  • Ambiguously Human: There's some confusion on some characters that makes the audience wonder if they're human. Doll is confirmed to be an alien and Kireina-Chan is a succubus. The Colonel, Nebula, Raven, and other humanoids just make people confused of what they are. Special mention goes to the vampire. He has blue skin and six fingers.

  • Ambiguous Disorder: Its never said what was wrong with Blossom. Aaron even wonders if she's okay. Angel knows but she either brushes it off or tries to keep it a secret.

  • Big-Bad Ensemble: The heroes have so many adversaries. First being Lord Maurice from volume one. But he is actually a pawn of Nebula, who is the real mastermind of planning the tournament. Volume 2 reveals President Jupiter who is xenophobic to anyone different from him. But the true dangerous threat isn't him or Nebula, but Raven, the real head of the Chaotic Army.

  • Cute and Psycho: Melantha is still cute even if she's trying to stab you with her spear.
