"A lesbian princess and a gay prince get married to appease their royal families."
— Description on Webtoon

High Class Homos is a fantasy, romance and comedy webcomic by momozerii. It revolves around Prince August and Princess Sapphia, who are both gay. To stop their parents trying to marry them off to opposite-sex suitors, Sapphia suggests they marry each other to throw their royal families off.

It can be read on Webtoon here (eventually restarted as a Webtoons Original here) and Tapas here.

High Class Homos contains examples of:

  • All of the Other Reindeer: It's revealed that Sapphia isn't popular in her home kingdom due to the people there not being as accepting of homosexuality as the people in August's kingdom.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Percy is notably darker than the other characters, but seems to be from August's same kingdom. His race is never specified.
  • Arranged Marriage: Defied by the royals, who refuse to be matched to one of their suitors due to Incompatible Orientation
    • As it turns out, August's father the King doesn't believe in the practice, due to how his own arranged marriage with August's mother ended. He ultimately grew to love his wife, but she never returned the feeling and eventually ran away, which he allowed her to do, because he knew she was miserable. This is what motivates him to send Sapphia away after she kicks Nicolosi at the Ball, as he mistakenly believed she was being pressured to pursue his son by her parents and the incident was her purposely acting out because she didn't really want to be there.
  • The Beard: The plot of the comic revolves around this, with the gay prince and lesbian princess pretending to love each other so they can be with their same-sex lovers in secret.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: Sapphia and Odette have this even when Sapphia is dating Marla.
  • Big Damn Kiss: Sapphia and Odette share their first one in the season finale.
  • Cast Full of Gay: Sapphia and Odette are lesbians, August and Percy are gay, Marla is bisexual, and Lucas is a transgender man.
  • Closet Key: Prince August, for Percy. He only realises he's gay after gaining an interest in the prince and talking to Lucas about his newfound feelings.
  • Commonality Connection: August and Sapphia's friendship starts this way after they both meet at an event, and they realize that they're both gay.
  • Delayed Reaction: Percy has this reaction when Lucas explains to Percy that he's actually gay. He needs a moment to contemplate this.
  • Faking the Dead: Lucielle, aka Lucas, had to fake their death because they knew their parents would never approve of the transition. This unfortunately had the unintended side effect of causing Marla to go on a revenge quest against Luna, who she believed killed him since she helped fake his death.
  • Fake Relationship: Although Prince August proposes to Princess Sapphia in public, their relationship is actually that of Platonic Life-Partners due to their Incompatible Orientation. They decide to officially get married so they can be with their same-sex lovers in peace without their parents constantly trying to matchmake them with opposite-sex suitors.
  • Foil: Nicolosi and Luna. They both have feelings for Sapphia and August respectively who they could never be with due to Incompatible Orientation. Nicolosi, however, is a Hate Sink who resorts to dirty tactics to break up the supposed couple, while Luna is more of a Jerk with a Heart of Gold who understands that her love is gay and lets August be free.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: August has a Childhood Friend he used to write letters to named Luna. She was a sweet girl, but she became a witch and a menace to society, and is wanted in 27 kingdoms.
    • However, Luna still is a Jerk with a Heart of Gold, as she genuinely helped Sapphia after Sapphia gave her (as a disguised homeless person) a basket of bread to eat.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Marla is blonde, and she treats everyone kindly. She comforted a sobbing Odette who missed her old life when she was a new palace maid, and offered to be her friend.
  • Heel Realization: When Nicolosi discovers the true nature of August and Sapphia's relationship, he breaks down crying and realizes he's been the bad friend all along.
  • Important Haircut: Odette was forced cut her hair prior to becoming a palace maid. She's still upset about it.
  • Love Triangle: Sapphia and Marla are dating, while Odette has an interest in Sapphia that she mistakes as being for Marla. At the same time, Sapphia shows at least some interest in Odette. Eventually, Marla breaks it off with Sapphia as she was not over her old love interest Lucielle, leaving Sapphia and Odette in the running to become an Official Couple.
  • Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: Prince August is soft-spoken and shy, while princess Sapphia is rebellious, outgoing and isn't averse to conflict at all.
  • Meaningful Name: Sapphia's name is derived from 'sapphic', meaning 'relating to lesbians or lesbianism'.
    • Her full title is Princess Sapphia of Mytilene — in the real world, Mytilene is the capital city of Lesbos, the island which originated the word 'Lesbian' because of its most famous poet, Sappho (hence sapphic -> Sapphia).
  • Murder Is the Best Solution:
    • When the servants who are skipping work realize Prince August has caught them, their immediate reaction is to kill him before he can report them.
Odette: There's four of us, we can take him!
    • Percy also suggests this after Nicolosi catches him in August's room.
  • Parents Walk In at the Worst Time: In the Season 2 premiere, August's father decides to check in on the newlywed couple and offer them a snack of leftover wedding cake, and when he opens the door without knocking, sees August and Percy kissing before fainting from shock.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: Prince August and Princess Sapphia are very close friends, close enough to propose a fake marriage with each other so they can be with their lovers.
  • Precision F-Strike: A comedic example. The normally soft and gentle prince August lets one loose when he realises he forgot to let his love interest, Percy in on his and Sapphia's fake marriage plan, resulting in Percy thinking August genuinely loves Sapphia.
  • Prosthetic Limb Reveal: Princess Sapphia is revealed to have an artificial limb, her leg. Her parents lament this as it makes finding suitors hard for her. Others look down on her for having one due to viewing her as 'spoiled goods'.
  • Rebellious Princess: Sapphia is a prime example. This ends up being partially deconstructed though as it turns out her refusal to attend etiquette lessons severely hampered her ability to deal with people like Nicolosi and potentially put her and August's plan in jeopardy. She realizes this only after August's father forces her to take etiquette lessons as part of the condition to him agreeing to the marriage. While she's pretty satisfied that her actually applying her lessons allowed her to force Nicolosi to retreat for the first time since they were kids, she does beat herself up a bit for not paying attention sooner.
  • Youthful Freckles: Marla has these to go with her kind and gentle nature.
