• Adventures in Comaland: The season 1 finale reveals that the entire series takes place inside Tommy's head, and that he's been in a coma for the past 18 years.
  • Continues into the first episode of season 2, with Philbert's pet rock Bobo telepathically telling him that he wants to go home and to wake up.
• Animation Bump: The animation for Philbert falling down the stairs is surprisingly fluid.
• Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick: Happens when Philbert is telling Tommy what Bobo does:
  Philbert: Oh, he does all kinds of stuff. You can play fetch with him. He'll sit down, he'll roll over, uh, you can chase him around, he's good at being chased, he can read your mind, he can-
  Tommy: What?
• Full-Name Ultimatum: Happens in "philbert's coffee", revealing that Tommy's real name is Thomas.
  Philbert: It's coffee, Thomas. Drink. The coffee. Now.
• Once per Episode: Philbert's Catchphrase "Oh hey Tommy", which he says at the beginning of every episode.
• Trademark Favorite Food: Pizza Rolls, alongside being Philbert's Catchphrase, also gets him to forgive Tommy for dropping three bricks on him.
• Uncanny Family Resemblance: Philbert's father and younger brother/cousin look almost identical to him, with the only differences being the mustache and the hat each of them respectively have.
• Wham Episode: The season 1 finale, "philbert's christmas", reveals that Tommy has been in a coma for the past 18 years, and that the events of the show all take place inside his head.
• Wham Line: After once again getting fed up with Philbert's antics, Tommy tells him to get out of his room, only for Philbert to drop this bomb:
  Philbert: What room?
  Tommy: What are you-what are you talking about? Philbert, get out of my room.
  Philbert: This isn't your room Tommy...you're in the hospital.
