Object Lockout, the continuity-snarling second season of Object Lockdown throwing away a gimmick that gave the first season its name.note

Object Lockdown is an animated cartoon webs series created by Wuggolo (who previously made Super Object Battle and Flipnote Object Battle) which began on October 14th, 2015. The first season lasted for 4 years with only 8 episodes under its belt until it was announced to be cancelled on December 27th, 2019 through this video, where at the same time a second season was announced, though the name was almost entirely censored out at the time. On July 12th, the name if the season was revealed through an official Twitter outlet to be Object Lockout. The second season eventually came out on April 12th, 2020. It's an Object Show series, in case you were wondering or have figured out.

Object Lockdown (the first season, anyway) follows a group of 28 contestants competing on the island of Ahi for a mansion, with the competition being hosted by Fire Extinguisher and Lock. The show works a little different compared to your standard object show (or at least, that was what the creator originally intended): the contestants compete int teams of two - the Safe Team and the Danger Team - which they will be placed on based on their performance in the challenges. Once per Episode ensues a "Lockdown Session" where the contestant who has the most votes will be "locked-down" to the Danger Team, meaning that they are permanently on the team until a three-episode time threshold. Once that threshold ends, all contestants currently locked-down are finally eliminated.

Object Lockout is more different though; set on the mysterious Pericolo Island, 16 contestants (most of who are ex-Object Lockdown contestants) find themselves in a competition hosted by ex-Lockdown contestant Paint Palette for a chance to win ten million dollars. However, as said competition goes on, the mysteries surrounding the island and the true intent of the seemingly-out-of-nowhere game show start to unravel...and that's just the outline for the plot! This season, which seemingly acts like the events of the first season have never happened, has contestant voting rather than Audience Participation like in the previous season.

Note that episodes from Super Object Battle and Flipnote Object Battle will be recapped on this work's Recap page.

This show provides examples of:

  • A Cappella: The "Get a Comb" Lockdown Session tune.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": As with almost every object show conceived to this day, there are characters named after on what they are such as a fire extinguisher name Fire Extinguisher, a lock named Lock and so on and so forth.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: Every single character on the show, the hosts, the contestants, the residents, the dragonnote , you name it.
  • Anthropomorphic Food: There happened to be examples for this kind of show.note
  • Armless Biped: A number of the cast has been inflicted by this.note
  • Audience Participation: In Object Lockdown, the viewers are able to vote on who gets a prize and who gets eliminated (or in this case, locked down). Subverted in Object Lockout, however.
  • Bears Are Bad News: "Breaking The Mold" proves this well!
  • Bilingual Bonus: Both of the islands have a name that's a word in a different language.
    • Ahi Island, the island Object Lockdown takes place on, has the word "ahi," which is fire in Hawaiian. Makes sense, since the island has an active volcano.
    • "Pericolo," from Pericolo Island (where Object Lockout takes place) is Norwegian for pretty. Lampshaded by Paint Palette in "Glad to See You Could Make It." Or so one may think. It actually means 'danger' in Italian.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Yep, it sure feels like Paint Palette is gonna be this in Lockout...
  • Couch Gag: When Paint Palette looks at the monitors in the Object Lockout intro, the footage shown for each monitor will vary between episodes, showing different contestants from different shots of The Teaser for the specific episode. In some episodes, she'll even catch herself on camera!
  • Darker and Edgier: Object Lockout, Object Lockdown's reboot, is more serious and slightly darker than the original.
  • Eject the Loser:
    • As Lock puts it in Object Lockdown: "The Lockdown only lasts for a specific amount of time. Every three episodes, the locked-down contestant will leave." The contestants who do leave after the three-episode threshold will be transported to the Seaside Village, as Lock says that the show's In-Universe crew would rather do that than just putting them in a box and getting sued.
    • In Object Lockout, eliminated contestants ride on a boat to...a dungeon. Yep.
  • Evolving Credits: When a contestant is eliminated in Lockout, they will not appear in the intro following their elimination episode.Example
  • Have a Gay Old Time: The word 'lockdown' has become infamous since the COVID-19 Pandemic, which may partially be the reason why the second season is called Object Lockout instead.
  • Instrumental Theme Tune: All the themes of the series to date. The third one uses music from Mighty Switch Force!.
  • Invisible Anatomy: Any armless character can hold things like they have telekinesis or something. This happens in later episodes, starting from "Breaking the Mold."
  • Musical Nod: Many songs from Mighty Switch Force! can be heard in later episodes. The song "Love You Love You Love" is used in the third intro for Lockdown.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Lock at the end of "Breaking the Mold," when Stop Sign asks her if she is going to revive the dead contestants.note
Lock: "Oh, look at the time, I gotta go. Sayonara!"
  • Title Drop: "Glad to See You Could Make It" (courtsey of Paint Palette)

"Did you just steal my line!?"

In the Lockdown Session for the sixth episode of Object Lockdown, Sun uses Lock's line, "let's show the likes."

How well does it match the trope?
