WMG / The Mitchells vs. the Machines

Go To

The Yoga family will be Foil to the Mitchells
  • Semi-confirmed, they're not exactly onscreen for most of the film, but do work as a reflection of the Mitchells in that their relationship with one another is far less estranged than theirs.

There will be a Heroic Sacrifice Disney Death moment.

Katie will come out as queer
  • Sort of; she and her friend Jade have apparently stated dating by the film's ending, since Linda asks if Katie and Jade are "official" yet and if she's bringing Jade home for Thanksgiving. This confirms that Katie is queer, but it also implies that Katie has already come out to her family off-screen.

PAL survived in some way
  • PAL is a hyper-intelligent AI that has control over all devices from Pal Labs, including a massive army of robots. The odds of her simply limiting her core to one non-waterproof phone is low. Chances are that she may have copied or scattered her code around the world, the shutdown of the robots are a coverup, and she is now keeping a low profile, similar to Archos in Robopocalypse.

The Mitchells will encounter another apocalypse
  • It turn out defeating the robot apocalypse turn out to be their beginning. It will be a different kind of apocalypse.

Titles for the apocalypse's above
  • Zombie apocalypse; The Mitchells Vs The Munchers
  • Alien invasion; The Mitchells Vs The Martians
  • Cthulhu Mythos or Kaiju; The Mitchells Vs The Monsters
  • Mutants animals; The Mitchells Vs The Mutants.
  • Some suggestions are already visible on the title page as a Freeze-Frame Bonus.

Monchi knew to knock PAL into water
He saw the glass from one eye looking in that direction, he just needed to focus hard enough to knock her in the right place

PAL had decided humans were worthless well before the PAL MAX presentation

Since PAL is connected to all the PAL Labs products, she’d probably be able to see everyone’s search history, and in doing so, saw some REALLY disgusting shit, leading her to believe all humans are that depraved and deserve to be eradicated. Saying that she’s retaliating because of Mark calling her obsolete was just a cover story, as she already had her factory and the Rhombus of Complete Subjugation set up, and something that big couldn’t just be spawned on the fly.

The events of the movie didn't actually happen

The whole thing was made by Katie, possibly as something she did at school. Her brother's voice sounds so much deeper than it should for a kid that young because he's playing himself years after Katie left for college. The road trip did happen, though.

There will be a spinoff series
Like the movie, it will have its episodes released on Netflix. It will also involve the Mitchell family dealing with everyday scenarios that quickly spiral into chaos. The title may be something along the lines of "The Mitchells vs. the World", "The Mitchells vs. Life" or simply "The Mitchells vs." with each episode filling in the blank (similar to another animated show). Plots would include Katie in college, Rick adjusting to technology, and Deborahbot and Eric trying to do human things despite being robots, all while keeping the general family theme that was a focal point in the movie.

PAL took over the factories that made PAL-chip-equppied products prior to the apocalypse
  • Normal white goods, as well as the Smart Racket, would not have the ability to move themselves shown in the film. Further, Katie’s comment about the giant Furby suggest that perhaps humans did not build it after all.
