- When Miles arrives in the other universe, he notably experiences an Art Shift after arriving. Notably, the other Spiders in the previous film did not - Spider-Noir remains black-and-white, Peni is still in an Animesque style, and Spider-Ham retains the cel-shaded style of the cartoons he's emulating. It's likely that the tunnels serve as a quote-unquote "proper" method of multiversal travel that stabilizes the traveler for whatever universe they end up in, preventing the threat of disintegration that was in the previous film.
- Plus, The Stinger of Into the Spider-Verse has Miguel appear in the art style of Spider-Man (1967) when he's in Earth-67, so maybe that is the case.
- Jossed. The dimensional travelers rely on wristwatches to actively stabilize them in real time, with them suffering the effects of Glitching if said watches are ever removed while still in a foreign dimension, the tunnels therefore do nothing to stabilize them.
- Jossed. Miles is as vulnerable to glitching out as anyone else when removed from his home dimension without a technological aid to stabilize him. This even becomes a dramatic plot point as he closes out the film stranded in the wrong universe, at risk of disintegrating if Gwen and Co don't find him in time.
- Jossed. Miguel's firmly a Hero Antagonist whose opposition to Miles stems from a belief that Miles' father needs to die to ensure the stability of his universe as well as a personal resentment of Miles due to his spider coming from a different universe from Miles' own, making Miles existence as Spider-Man an anomalous "mistake".

- A Variant of Miles who is an Evil Counterpart version of him.
- Alternatively, he could be nerdy and affable, but still dangerous in the same vein as Henchman #21.
- Jossed and Inverted. The Spot starts out as ineffectual and incompetent, a fact that infuriates him so much that he seeks out and absorbs the energy of different colliders across the Multiverse, in order to become a genuine threat. And further decides to make it a personal goal to deprive Miles of his loved ones out of spite for not being taken seriously, making him genuinely malicious and evil.

Once they realize how hard they were on him, they will likely make amends as well as apologize to him for chasing him.
- It's possible that he isn't a multiversal threat on his own, but rather a man that powers are the true enemy and he is just being forced to play the role of a villain.
- When Miles meets him for the first time, he isn't trying to attack him or kill him, he is just struggling to use his power to steal a small stole for food and money.
- Blink if you miss but ina small moment of the trailer he is sitting alone without his spots in a broken position who looks that he doesn't know what to do.
- That could be also the reason of why all the spiders are after Miles, because he is just trying to help the Spot, but they think that he is a menace and need to end him.
- Jossed hard. While there is some element tragedy to The Spot's disfiguring powers he actively wants to be the villain to Miles' hero and takes it personally when Miles doesn't take him seriously. When he soon after starts powering himself up in order to become a genuine threat he ignores Miles' attempts to reason with him and takes active glee at the thought of killing Miles' family in order to establish himself as his nemesis.
- Jossed. He's more of a Hero Antagonist.
- Jossed.
In the comics, Ultimatum is basically Earth-616 Miles, who is an evil gang lord and bffs with Kingpin. They will alter his backstory drastically and basically iron him into "Evil Miles Morales"
- Jossed
- Only partially, Miles ended up in Earth-42 which does contain an "Evil Miles Morales"
Once they realize what they have done, there are possibilities of them realize that he is innocent it is highly likely that they will regret for being too hard on him.
- Jossed.
- MCU Spider-Man entering a possible world, likely meeting Miles or any other Spider-Man.
- The Raimiverse and Webbverse Spider-Man accidentally entering a portal to The Spider Society.
- Jossed
- Semi-confirmed: The closest is the reveal of Captain George Stacy's death being canon in his universe but other than that, there's no implications or hints of what his life was like after the show.
- Confirmed. Other than Peni who has a few lines in the movie, the three of them appear in the final few seconds of the movie with Gwen as part of the upgraded Spider team
With there already being good heroes like Spectacular Spider-Man, there are possibillites on what Good Teammates who may be only after him to help him or anything.
- Spider Gwen
- Spider-Man
- Spider-Women
- Spider-Byte
- Spider-Punk
- Spider-Man India
- The Spectacular Spider-Man
- Jossed. This is about the last thing he wants in fact.
Because of how there likely concern for Miles, want what is best for him, as well as let him know on how much Spider-Man is an important role to him, they’ll likely regret chasing him and will start beginning to help him take down The Spot from destroying the multiverse.
- Jossed. He's trying to save his father from The Spot, exactly as the trailers imply.
- Jossed.
- Jossed, mostly. The Spot is acting on his own and of his own free will. And while there is a minor element of being Trapped in Villainy due to the disfiguring nature of his powers making it impossible to have a normal life he actively wants to be the villain to Miles' hero and makes no attempt to be otherwise.
- Gwen will be furious with Miguel for making her believe that her father, her only family, died.
- Miles will be the one to discover Miguel's test, so he chases after him in an attempt to silence him.
It could be possible that he is trying to go to another dimension, is trying to prove to Miguel that he can join The Spider Society, or worse that his future variant is Miles.
Because of how they were at least chasing Miles, it is likely that they will be called out as well.- Confirmed. After Miles makes his escape, Gwen turns on the Society, calling out Miguel and the rest of them on how they're "supposed to be the good guys". Some even appear to start questioning it themselves afterwards.
- This could be a reference to The Empire Strikes Back where Darth Vader revealed to Luke that he is Anakin Skywalker, revealing that he is his father.
- Was going to enter the exact same theory. Plus, if we never hear again of the MCU's Vulture (which is not unlikely given the reception of Morbius), then we can assume he was just caught by the Spider-Society and sent back to his universe.
- Similarly, the MCU version of the Prowler got lost in the multiverse due to Doctor Strange's spell and is captured by the Spider Society for that very reason. The specific line from Miguel does indicate that the spell was a massive anomaly that they were likely dealing with prior to the events of the film.
- Earth-42 Miles not getting bitten by the spider should have destabilized that universe since getting bitten is a "canon" event, but 42-Miles not getting bitten = Spider-Man not existing in that universe in the first place = nothing for the paradox to attach itself to.
- The Peter Parker in Miles' universe wasn't supposed to die, but there was no "canon event" that corresponded to him not dying and that plus Miles having "become" Spider-Man at that point somehow averted the collapse of that universe.
- Or, if you wish to see it, Captain Stacy "died" when he quit the police force, and all that's left is Gwen's dad George, humble civilian who loves his baby girl.
- The reason Miguel says the event is a death is because that's the most probable way a police captain would lose their job.
- Similarly, Pavitr's canon event of losing one or both of his Stacys looks as though it was averted by Miles. But what if it's the Spidey's character development that is the real canon event, not necessarily the cause of said development? Pav is pretty cocky when we meet him, but after coming so close to losing his Stacys, he appears to be a much humbler young man, quietly thanking Miles for his help instead of trying to grab glory or call the day "easy." After all, the purpose of canon events is supposed to be to develop a Spidey's character and steel their resolve. Losing one or both Singhs to his own ego potentially would've crushed Pav rather than made him stronger. Besides, Miguel can't actually prove that PTSD is a canon event for all Spideys.
- Earth-42's spider biting Miles still counts as the bite. That's why Earth-42 is intact.
But there are also various other generic background Spideys wearing the same costume rendered in the generic art style of all the other Spideys. Though Earth-1048 is the definitive canon of that game, not everyone plays the game the exact same way, completes missions in the same order, gains the same achievements, etc. so these are Spideys from realities that follow the same general story as Earth-1048 but played out just differently enough that they warranted their own alternate reality.
In other words, these are the realities of the different save files of the many real-life people who actually played the game. Some of these Spideys may have even experienced their adventure twice.
He wears blue shoelaces, which in punk gangs is a code for having killed a cop, and in fighting totalitarian regime there is a lot of possible situations, where that could happen. His trauma from the event is less about the person he killed, but more about having taken a life, possibly making him adopt Thou Shall Not Kill stance and giving him even more reasons to oppose Miguel's The Needs of the Many ideology.
- Could have also caused his 10-Minute Retirement.
The idea of Miles "breaking canon" seems like a jab at comic readers who can't accept change and want everything to stay the same. Miguel telling Miles he is not supposed to be Spider-man could also be a jab about real-life comic readers who think Miles should not be Spider-Man. Miguel represents the REALLY obsessive comic fan who becomes unhinged when a lore has been changed.
Adding more Arc Welding from the MCU's current multiverse arc, Miguel's presence in the alternate 2099 was a form of incursion, which broke down the reality. While Miguel is obsessed with maintaining "canon", the Spider Society's missions could be unintentionally preventing incursions from happening throughout the multi-verse.
Whether this is Sony's SSU or not, there is a lot of evidence in various bits of the multiverse that other Marvel heroes should exist. Especially considering Insomniac's Spider-Man game has various locations relevant to The Avengers. However Earth-42 is so bad because without Spider-Man, any other Marvel heroes would have been overwhelmed.
Miles got bitten by a radioactive spider that was supposed to bite Earth-42's Miles, but the canon events are being tracked via the spiders that give each Spider-Person their powers even though they're tied to the individual people. Miguel is confusing the canon of Earth-42 Miles with that of the Miles that the audience follows. The Officer Jefferson Davis that was supposed to die already has died and Miguel is confusing the two worlds' canons because the radioactive spider hopped dimensions. He's trying to let Miles' dad die for no reason and isn't aware of it. Furthermore, Miles already went through his own canon loss when Uncle Aaron died. Our Miles was originally supposed to be a heroic Prowler.
- If this is true, it means Uncle Aaron's death was a complete coincidence.
- Or the multiverse itself got baffled and goofed up. The Uncle Ben death is an uncle 99% of the time and it always happens soon after the Spider gains their powers.
- Gaining spider-related powers. Most commonly through a spider manipulated by science or magic biting someone.
- The death of a loved one (typically an uncle) that teaches the Spider the importance of responsibility.
- A 10-Minute Retirement where the Spider tries to give up their responsibilities and live a normal life, only to decide they have to keep up the fight.
- The death of the police captain and the emotional fallout.
- Finding a romantic partner.
- The romantic partner dying due to a fight between the Spider and a supervillain.
- A close friend becoming a supervillain enemy.
- Bonding with a symbiotic organism, extraterrestrial or lab-grown, and struggling with A Darker Me.
- Spending at least some time as a Hero with Bad Publicity.
- A physical test of Heroic Willpower that pushes them to and beyond the limits of their Super-Strength.
We know Miguel traveled to an alternate Nueva York where he died and his family survived which caused the alternate universe to be destroyed; however, a universe being destroyed isn't a small event and could potentially be detectable in other universes. The destruction of the alternate Nueva York was detected by the Doctor Octopus of Earth-1610B, Miles' home dimension, which is what proved to her that alternate universes exist and prompted her to create the reactor that brought the spider over from Earth-42 in the first place. It's entirely Miguel's fault that Miles is an anomaly in the first place.
- Miguel stayed in the universe that wasn't his in the first place, so that should definitely make him an anomaly!
Remember how in Into the Spider-Verse, Gwen arrived into Miles's universe a week back in time, despite everyone leaving their respective universes "in the same time"? Judging by the news feed in her arrival, the Peter Parker of Miles' universe was still alive when she got there. So she arrived before the the collider activation that triggered her departure!
So not only the multiverse hopping happens between universes, it may happen over times. Hence, it's not impossible that Spot in the current time meddles things so that they affect universes in the past, causing the very event that traumatized Miguel? And Spot's presence in Mumbattan may also have caused glitching that was mistaken for disturbance of a canon event.
- If there's one upside to this WMG, it's that the indigenous populace of the Americas were able to live undisturbed.
- Unless the Americas and India simply switched places in the scheme of colonisation, and America became the 'crown jewel' of the British Empire.
It would make total sense since Miles have been chased by Miguel and The Spider Society besides for two things that happened to due to Activation causing the canon events to happen.
- Okay, but why make the Spot as powerful as he was at the end? That would be stupid to have the Spot go through an Alchemax lab and become OP for nothing.
- It seems more likely that Miles-Prowler will be more akin to Sinister Strange, in that Miles will have to contend with the villain he easily could have become if things had gone a slightly different way, but the larger threat endangering the entire multiverse is the ultimate focus. Miles-Prowler might stick around for the whole movie if he pulls a Heel–Face Turn, but otherwise he'll just be a Villain of the Detour.
- Seemingly Jossed. The Across The Spider-Verse official art book describes Miles G. Morales as a vigilante rather than a villain of Earth-42.
Most of them may be working for Miguel including on protecting the Spider-Verse, but a few do at least have care, concern, and sympathy towards Miles despite chasing him.

- Considering that Willow seemed to take a liking to Miles, it's a possibility.
The future sequel could likely introduce as well as still have few spiders make a cameo including as well as have a few join the cast on helping Miles stop The Spot and Miguel in the third film.
Since Beyond The Spider-Verse will be resolving as Part Two of Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse, it would make sense since a few of them including the other animation, video game, and live-action ones haven’t appeared yet.

Because of how there likely concern for Miles, want what is best for him, as well as let him know on how much Spider-Man is an important role to him, they’ll likely regret chasing him and will start beginning to help him take down The Spot from destroying the multiverse.
It could be possible that he is trying to go to another dimension, is trying to prove to Miguel that he can join The Spider Society, or worse that his future variant is Miles.
- Or, just saying, it will be inverted and Miles Variant will help Miles in taking out the Spot.
Once he gets called out, Gwen, Peter, and the rest of The Spiders from The Spider-Gang will abandon him, leaving him alone.
With Gwen having made her own spider team, there are possibilities on who could take his place as leader of The Spider Society who can be benevolent.
- Miles
- Gwen
- Hobie
- Peter-2
Because of how they're likely concerned for Miles, want what is best for him, as well as let him know on how much Spider-Man is an important role to him, they’ll likely regret chasing him and will start beginning to help him take down The Spot from destroying the multiverse.
- Hobie would probably be Gwen's best proof that her team isn't trying to capture Miles, as Hobie was the only Spider Society member who helped Miles escape from the start. Miles likely doesn't know whether Noir and Ham were Society members or not, and even if he didn't see them, Pav or Peni, he could reasonably guess that they were somewhere in the Spider horde chasing him.
Meanwhile, Earth-1610 already had a version of Peter Parker as its Spider-Man, while prior to being bitten, Miles was spending most of his time hanging out with and being influenced by his Uncle Aaron. If the collider incident hadn't occurred, 1610's Peter would have survived while Miles would have eventually followed in his uncle's footsteps.
But due to the events of the first film, their roles have been directly flipped. 1610's Miles was bitten and gained powers instead, with Peter and later Aaron's deaths then inspiring him to take over as Spider-Man. Meanwhile, without the spider to give him powers or a version of Peter to mentor him, 42's Miles was driven even more towards his uncle after Jefferson's death and became the new Prowler.
- And should E-42 Miles learn this, he may try to kill our Miles in retribution for stealing his destiny.
- Gwen, due to the cannon fate of every other Gwen.
- Peter B. due to Mentor Occupational Hazard.
- Jefferson could sacrifice himself to save Miles and preserve the Multiverse.
- Jesica Drew. Black Dude Dies First, Mentor Occupational Hazard and Retirony.
- Miguel as part of Redemption Equals Death. Given how a Central Theme of the movie involves defying the preexisting fate of losing a loved one, it is clearly setting up Miles and Gwen to defy fate and save both the entire multiverse and his father, Miguel seems the most likely of all the Spider-People to die. As mentioned below, he might even believe his death is a canon event.
- Gwen, Peter B. and Jefferson are unlikely to lose their lives in Beyond the Spider-Verse. Jefferson stands out in particular as he is the one that Miles is trying to save - there was a setup for him in the next film to manage to do both, and his death would render that pointless and prove Miguel's point.
- When Jess is looking in on Gwen talking to Jefferson and Rio, there appears to be a look on her face as though she acknowledges Gwen has noble intentions despite Jess’s loyalty to the Spider Society. Presumably Miguel will go too far in his attempt to subdue Miles, and Jess will fight back, turning her allegiance to Miles and Gwen.
- Presumably as a Heroic Sacrifice for his fellow Spider-People, a Redemption Equals Death moment, or his belief that his death will be a canon event.
- Mainly due to her status as a hodge-podge of comic Jessica Drew's 'Best Bits'. Whether that ends up being relevant to her actions or not is unknown; possibly it's just another tick on the proverbial list.
- It was the supercollider experiment that gave the Spot his powers, so naturally they should know what to do in order to stop Jonathan. In addition, Olivia became stranded on Earth-42 after her hilariously anticlimactic defeat in Into the Spider-Verse, and she'll be forced to form an alliance with Miles so they can escape. Finally, bonus points if they have Kingpin quote his counterpart from Spider-Man: The Animated Series.
Once one of them ends up giving him "The Reason You Suck" Speech to him, it will cause him to realize how much his actions have almost got everyone killed and hurt him.
- Combined with a WMG, he will have a realization due to meeting two alt-selves - a more heroic version and more villainous one.
Because of how she is still hunting down Miles despite their already being two threats, The Spot, and Earth-42 Prowler, it will take her to encounter one of these in a Heel Realization.
Not to mention on how she is having second thoughts on hunting down Miles, so it is highly likely she’ll regret being hard on both Gwen and Miles..
Because of how they are still hunting down Miles despite their already being two threats, The Spot, and Earth-42 Prowler, it will take them to encounter one of these in a Heel Realization.
- Upon realizing how far-gone Miguel is in his pursuit of Miles and desire for order when they see how Miles' theory of change can be possible, they would ensure Miguel doesn't get to him, both as an apology for trapping him, and their way to finally atone for letting so many versions of their loved ones die and being seemingly unable to stop it.
- 1610 Doc Ock/Olivia Octavius - We haven't seen her since she got mowed down by a truck inside the collider in the first movie; perhaps she was jettisoned to Earth-42 and immediately began taking over the place for her own use with no Spider-Man to stop her.
- Kron Stone/Venom 2099 (or another member of Miguel's Rogues Gallery) - There's more to Miguel's origin we don't know yet, and who better to let Miles in on it than one of Miguel's adversaries? I chose Venom because he's canonically Miguel's older half-brother and they love drama like that, but any of Miguel's rogues could be adapted.
- Adrian Toomes/Spider-Gwen's Vulture - If Renaissance Vulture ended up in the wrong universe, who's to say he wasn't swapped out with Spider-Gwen's? I would make this less likely than the above two, but it's been at least moderately set up.
The rest of the Sinister Six Cartels could be made up interpretations of Spidey's villains like Renaissance Vulture, but they could also be villains from past Spidey media should they choose to bring them back like they did the alternate Spideys.
Here are candidates that could show up, but I would put in the category of less certain:
- The 90s Animated Series incarnation of Kingpin - The most powerful and iconic animated version of the character, and it would make sense to bring in another Kingpin variant in a "Sinister Six Cartel" variation. Alternatively, this could be the 90s version of Richard Fisk, now operating as The Rose, since Nick Jameson is still alive and Roscoe Lee Browne is not.
- Steve Blum Green Goblin (Spectacular Green Goblin) - Same reason as 90s Kingpin and wouldn't require much explanation beyond just being another Gobby. Contrasts Ultimate Goblin from the first movie very well. Cool weapons, cool voice, he's just neat. Tombstone is another candidate if they want to use a major Spectacular villain, but I think Gobby is easier to explain.
- Some incarnation of Electro - Whether it be the New Animated Series "school shooter metaphor" version of Electro or an animated incarnation of Jamie Foxx's Electro, I'm shocked we haven't seen hide nor hair of one of Spidey's most iconic villains throughout any of these movies. Just throwing ourselves into having to stop him could be a really fun way to use him.
- Michael Mando Scorpion - A man can dream, right? Donald Glover's Prowler was a great live action cameo, and if the MCU isn't gonna use him, why not put Michael Mando in full classic Scorpion gear (or maybe the bulkier bulldozer-like Smythe suit from the comics) as one of Miles' multiversally-displaced Earth-42 adversaries.
Miles-Prowler's conditions for helping Spider-Miles get back home might be helping him take down the other cartels, giving Miles an obstacle to overcome in order to return home and save his father.
Although it was played that he was unsure of what would result from breaking the Cannon, it may be a scenario that he needs to keep secret from the rest of the Spider Society as a means to protect them.
- Bonus points if it's for a Big Damn Heroes moment when it looks like the Spot has the upper hand.
The way Aaron-42 and Miles-42 act towards Miles is a natural reaction to seeing another Miles appear from nowhere, especially if they previously met a version of the Chameleon, but in the next movie Miles will eventually be able to reach out to them.
Peter mentors Miles in universes where both are Spiders. Peter is The Lizard in Gwen's universe. The Sinister Six exist on Earth 42.
It would fit the themes neatly if the Peter Parker Lizard was mentoring the Miles Morales Prowler.

- Given how it's established that the Spot can "run out" of spots, leaving him completely white (in fact, we see him comment on this as he's talking about his holes), the dark matter he absorbed from the collider likely gave him a massive top-up of energy, allowing him to create larger portals without running out of supply that easily. That said, if the Spider-Gang (and the rest of the Spider-Society, for that matter if possible), can force him to expend enough of this energy for parts of his body to become white, they have a chance to defeat him for good. All they need to do is run down the clock.
- Noir and Ham weren't part of the Spider-Society at all, meaning they either didn't get invited, or Miguel purposefully kept them away for whatever reason. While Peni is a part of that group, she looked absolutely miserable in the brief amount of screentime she's given, which could imply she suffered another traumatic event offscreen.
- The Max Dillon from The Spectacular Spider-Man, who'll naturally single out his world's Peter.

While Gwen's motives, thought processes and actions are very much understandable and justified by where and how she was at that point, it still made things that much worse for Miles, who was already going through some pretty rough patches in life himself. We as the audience see where she's coming from, but it's evident that Miles lost all trust in her by the time he escaped the Spider Society, because Poor Communication Kills and everything she could've said or done came too little too late for him, especially at the mercy of his alternate reality self.
I can definitely see Miles and Gwen patching things up in Beyond... to a degree. They'll talk things out, maybe even become friends again, but all that damage can't be just undone so simply. He'll likely lose his crush on her and move on, end the next movie on hopefully a good note, but when Gwen's actions get addressed I don't see him and her together again afterwards just like that.
- Then their exchange of "And in every other universe, it doesn't end well." - "There's a first time for everything, right?" would have served no purpose.
- For all we know, he used his powers as a Cosmic Flaw to destroy the alternate Nueva York preemptively, gaslighing Miguel into inventing the "Fixed Canon" Theory and essentially creating an army of irony out to get Miles.
- Spot will likely discover Miles' bond with the other Spider-People from Into, so them going cold towards Miles is by design. If it isn't this that has caused Peni to become morose, whatever happened in itself could be Spot's doing, to say nothing of Ham and Noir's situations.
Maybe knowing Miles is Spider-Man plays a part in saving him without risking the multiverse.
And for the heck of it, might even lighten his grounding sentence because the reason he was grounded was because he was Spider-Man.
- Unless we’re talking about a second Miguel here, the first movie already established he only figured out multiverse travel well after the spider had bitten Miles.
And what better way to address that (and to disprove Miguel for good) than for Miles-42 to be the superhero that he was supposed to be all along?
Not to mention she was talking down Miles as well as chasing him, even going on preventing him from saving his own father despite that their already being both threats, The Spot and Earth-42 Prowler (aka Miles) on the loose.
She will be called out as well as being given "The Reason You Suck" Speech by Gwen, her former protégé, for being too hard on her, being cynical and stricken as well for not wanting to help stop The Spot. Once she gets call out by Gwen, she will have a Jerkass Realization as well as start to feel guilt of her actions.
Because of how Miles was trying to reason with him and Earth-42 Aaron despite them being Evil Counterpart versions of him and his late uncle.
He appeared to be an Evil Alternate Version of The Prowler like presumably being the original one .
Despite having guided his nephew into the life of crime and capturing Miles, He does appear to care about his family not to mention that he missed his brother provided for his sister-in-law, and likely took care of his nephew even though he had him turned into The Prowler.
Because of how Aaron cared about his nephew since he spared him and sacrificed himself despite knowing he would get wounded, it could be possible that Aaron will let Earth-42 Miles and Miles to leave on stopping The Spot from killing his father.
While she was being a Jerkass to Gwen and a few others including Miles, it does heavily implied that she just lost someone she loved, presumably either her husband, child, or father which could explain her selfish, cynical, and stricken personality.
- Adding onto this, perhaps losing whoever she lost was Jessica’s Death by Origin Story as most Spider-People lost someone close to them showing them that they cannot save everyone.
It makes sense, considering a film starring Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney is in the works. A Madame Web appearance could help introduce audiences to character. She could also better explain the intracies of the Spider-Verse that have been overlooked or ignored by Miguel and Layla's algorithim. This could ultimately legitimize Miles as a true Spider-Man in the eyes of the Spider-Society.
Peter Parker's body hijacked by Otto Octavius is the true architect of Spider Society's technology, mission and mythologized 'Canon'In Superior Spiderman, Otto was motivated to be a hero after witnessing and experiencing Peter Parker's memories, particularly the ones of his losses, the deaths of Uncle Ben, Gwen Stacy and Captain Stacy. Like Miles, his altered costume eschews the classic blue and red for black and red. And also like Miles, he took over the mantle of Spider-man after his world's Peter Parker perished (though at Otto's hands).Otto's tenure as the Superior Spider-man saw him try to optimize the protection of New York City's residents, employing an army of robots and minions. This methodology falls in line with how Miguel runs the Spider Society. Moreover, Otto and Miguel actually have a run-in during the Superior Spider-man era and Miguel even assists Otto in dealing with the Goblin Nation. It's entirely possible that while Miguel started the Spider Society to deal with multiversal issues, Otto is actually the one pulling the strings, in an attempt to optimize the protection of the multi-verse.In particular, his belief that Canon Events are important for the creation of a Spider-man to help protect a dimension and its people would explain why the idea of the Canon has been pushed so hard. It would also not be beyond Otto to employ some light brainwashing to ensure the co-operation of all Spider-people.
Since Gwen, Peter B. and Peni had known about the truth about Miles’ circumstances and were once fighting to ensure that his father died (with Miles even believing that Peter B. had given his location to Miguel while talking about Mayday as an way to distract him), his trust in every other Spider Man is completely broken, even in the innocent Spider Man Noir and Spider Ham. As such, he will wrongfully think that Gwen and her team would be only coming after him simply to keep him from stopping his father’s death and do whatever he can to avoid them, resulting in a lot of confrontations where the others plead for him to trust them and to understand that they have no intent of sacrificing his father or anyone else anymore.
Aaron-42 and Miles-42 are both visibly older than their 1610 counterparts, with Miles-42 being taller than Miles-1610 and Aaron, who was Jeff's younger brother, sporting a full, gray beard and implied to have passed down the role of Prowler to Miles due to advancing age. The mural of Jeff Davis seems to indicate that he died at or close to the age we see him portrayed in Earth-1610. It's possible that this is a branching path of what happens because Jeff was supposed to live in this universe but there was no Spider-Man to save him.
He's typically a Villain with Good Publicity in many of the universes where someone hasn't yet stopped him. This would also be a nod to the 616 Universe where this actually does happen in one comic run. In this case, his role (also in something of a nod to the Insomniac game) is as something of a Load-Bearing Boss whose removal would cause an Evil Power Vacuum that would be filled with far more volatile criminal elements.
The spider that bit Miles-1610 was numbered 42. This presumably means specimens 1 through 41 existed at some point, which means someone in that universe was trying to genetically engineer them. #42 gave Miles a completely different set of powers that seem to be unique to him. There's a decent chance, therefore, that #42 wasn't the only specimen that could 'create' a Spider-Man, or if it was, then it isn't any longer because it was the one that cracked the formula. There's also a decent chance, because we're dealing with genetic engineering in a superhero universe, that whoever has or had the tech to engineer these spiders didn't have wholesome intentions for them.
Why would they make a point of showing her pregnant at the beginning if not for payoff later? Threatening her baby would lead to a dramatic situation (and could imply this is why she plays it safe, to not risk her family). She could also be a foil for Peter B, as he is also a parent, and though he plays much more fast and loose, it's clear he loves Mayday very much.
This storyline would also play into the theme of parents taking chances and trusting their kids rather than trying to keep them physically safe at all costs.
- Insomniac Miles - Will feel disappointment towards his world's Peter for siding with Miguel upon getting the rundown of what's happening and will want to talk some sense into him. Also since he wouldn't want Miles to lose Jefferson like he did.
- The Spiders of Earth-17628 - Help out due to them believing Miguel's actions to not be heroic at all, possibly even villainous. Could be just Peter and Miles or even all of them.
- Spidey and His Amazing Friends - They'll likely be here for a few gags since they're all characters from a preschool show in a PG-rated animated film, meaning they're really out of their element when facing the Spder-Society and the Spot. However, they won't be completely helpless and will try using An Aesop about not believing everything you think to help Miguel see reason.
- Spider-Man from the Animated Series - An obvious choice. Perhaps he had already saved MJ but on the way, had to deal with the members of the Spider-Society on the way and joins in order to put a stop to the Spider-Society.
- Armored Spider-Man from the same series - Being a version of Peter Parker who was Born Lucky and never went through some major canon events, he is proof that canon events can be safely averted. Gwen and the others will be reluctant at first due to being a raging ego trip.
- I mean a Big Bad needs minions and and Across didn't really use that may alternate universe villains. As for who that would be, I have a few ideas.
- For Gwen: An alternate universe version Peter Parker/The Lizard were he killed her by accident instead.
- For Peni: VEN#m, expanding on a very similar event that happened in the comics were it killed Addy Brock, and Aunt May.
- Peter B. Parker: The Green Goblin, pretty self-explanatory.
- That's actually canon because of the different way he got his spider powers.
Part of the theme of Across the Spider-Verse is that the Spiders actually can make things better across dimensions. So, to continue that, Miles' time in Earth 42 will inspire that Miles to become the hero he was always meant to be.
- Another possibility is that if they are cornered the Spider Society, Miles-42 will sacrifice himself to give Miles time to get away. Committing one last heroic act before getting killed by the Society members.
Just for ultimate cruel irony points. The whole reason the Spot became universe-breakingly powerful is because Miguel let his obsession with canon events prevail over his heroic nature, so it'd be a real kick in the nuts if Spot had become powerful enough to reach through time and cause the glitch that took away Miguel's family, causing a Stable Time Loop as the Spot's actions put Miguel onto the path of creating the Spot in the first place. So, Miguel really was responsible for their deaths... but not in the way he thought.
- Alternatively, if Beyond should make up the "canon" that Gwen Stacy will always die if she falls in love with any Spider-Man, this will simply be part of what will likely be the movie's overall Screw Destiny plot. As another VMG mentioned above, the biggest obstacle for Gwen and Miles will likely be how their relationship can even work when they're from different dimensions.
The idea that it's the police captain who is lost in some way — either through death or a Heel–Face Turn — is something that applies to Peter Parker and his many variants, but that doesn't guarantee that it will happens to Miles. While does happen to Miles in various other versions is that he loses a parent.
In Across, Miles tried to out his secret identity to his mom, only to find out that it wasn't actually his mom, instead being a variant of her from a different Earth. He's too worried about what his dad might think, but his mom is a different story. Out of both of his parents, his mom is the one who actually gives Miles some space and is patient enough to actually listen to him instead of demanding his respect like his father does, so while it would definitely be crushed Miles if it was his dad that died, it would be especially bad if his mom died. Miles will be so concerned about his dad dying, he will overlook certain warnings about his mother and he will be too late to save her. Peter-199999 lost his mother-figure (Aunt May) in No Way Home, so its not entirely out of the question that it would happen.
- Bonus awesome points if it's a Leopardon suit in live action, maybe even against a still-2D-animated Spot.
- With the idea that E-42 Miles should have been his reality's Spider-Man, 1610 Miles will convince him to become a hero as well, either as Prowler (original 616 Prowler is not a villain) or a reband his equipment to let him be a powerless version of Spider-Man as fulfillment of the first film's idea that anyone, powers or not, can be Spider-Man.
Jossed. In the flashback that shows the Spot stealing Earth 42's Spider, it is just about to bite 42's Miles. The braids give him away.
- He just never knew how to use it, and is happily continuing with his motorcross career after avenging a bunch of deaths and destroying the Iron Cross Group.
- ...until he finds out about what the Spider-Society is and what it's been up to. Then he puts on the Spider Protector again, breaks into Spider-Society HQ, and starts announcing who he is. "終焉を遮る男、スパイ・ダーマッ!"
- Moreover, the unusual nature of his powers means he has a Venom level of advantage over those who got their powers from a more traditional spider. Remember: this guy once fought a Giant Machine-BEM on foot, got thrown around by it, and didn't seem any worse the wear (source).
- And he considers Miguel's activities worth "investigating".
- (Getting bit by him turns people into Noir Spider-Man.)
- That one has seen more deaths and killed more mooks than The Punisher. Throwing him full-force into a mountain just slows him down a bit. He doesn't run out of Spider String, which is rope-sized with corresponding tensile strength. He has alien blood, no fear of using guns, a giant robot, and a driver's license. Dude doesn't need to do that pose and nanori - he's so invincible that no one can stop him. And he's bros for life with Kamen Rider V3.
- The best the Spider-Society can do is hope he doesn't notice them, with Earth-51778 completely sealed off as an extra precaution.
- Miguel will be right in that certain events happen to all Spiders. However, not all of these events are predetermined - some are just life events happen as a result of the life of a Spider. With villains like Goblin and Vulture, something will always be fallen towards someone. Miles will be right in that while such events - predetermined and otherwise - will happen and sometimes to a very specific degree, the OUTCOME of those events are not set in stone and it's up to the Spider to decide how to act upon them and afterwards. We already see for Pavitr, his Captain does actually get 'crushed' by debris saving a child while potentially fulfils the event... however, he's still alive.
- Adding onto this, Miles and Gwen will become a Official Couple, Miles will able to stay in touch with all his pals in the Spider Gang, maybe sometimes even helping each other fighting in each others' dimensions (while making sure they don’t cause any multiverse damage), Jessica will pull a Heel–Face Turn, Spot and Miguel will both be dead, and the Spider Society will be no more.
- Him going vampire to try and kill Renaissance Vulture before being spotted by a news helicopter and stealthily reverting back.
- Pilot said he "Looked like a bad guy" cluelessly
- The way he crawls when chasing Miles
- He also went vampire when Miles was escaping through the machine, his eyes went yellowish after Miles succeeded, as hechanged to a vampish, sinister demeanor. Which made the other Spider-people take pause.
- He injects himself with something which affected the spider-venom in his blood, since the same blood sequence was used when Miles realized his spider-venom was from a different universe than his own, thus sending him to that universe
It seems inevitable that "team Miles" and "team Miguel" will at some point clash, and even is remiscent of one of Spider-Verse comics, Spidergeddon where at one point Miles actually leads his team of alternate Spider-People against a more anti-heroic team lead by Otto Octavius. It is at least obvious we will see Miles fight Miguel again and it's unlikely their allies will idly stand by.
Possible fights we can see if it does happen:
- Spider-Gwen vs Jessica Drew - it is rather obvious the two need to confront one another at this point.
- Spider-Man Noir vs Ben Reilly - a potential for hialrious clash of two over the top personalities, also justifies why was Ben framed by advertizing as more important than he is in Across
- Spider-Ham vs LEGO Spider-Man - both characters operate on such different rules from other Spider-People it may be hard to find them other opponnents, but they also are different enough to be Outside-Context Problem to each other
- Sp//dr vs either Sun-Spider or Cyborg Spider-Woman - Sun-Spider had gotten actual dialogue lines, but Cyborg Spider-Woman seems less likely to switch sides, a much more even match for Peni's Mini-Mecha and, just like Ben, her role in Across is much smaller than advertized.
- Here's an idea for the end of each fight, after each Spider-Gang member gets the upper hand against their Spider-Society opponent, they will forcibly remove their Multiversal Gizmos from their wrists, causing them to glitch to death.
- I don't think that'd happen - it's more likely that they'd just knock them out of the fight.
- Definitely won't happen, since the Spider-People in general are against killing, and would especially be against killing each other.
In the movie he goes from a regular human, to a Humanoid Abomination to a Transhuman Abomination. The next logical step would be to turn him into an actual Eldritch Abomination, right?
Given that others are questioning his actions, Miguel could’ve set the stage for the group fracturing. Whether it be through his control freak tendencies having him kick out a member, some deciding to defect to Gwen’s group, or even getting killed trying to apprehend them or Miles.
Despite a few former members of The Spider Society disbanding after Miguel sent Gwen to her home for letting Miles go, even though he was preventing his father from dying at the hands of Spot, a few spiders are friendlier to him such as Margo, Pavitr, and Sun-Spider.
If one of them is in a fight with another member, Margo and Sunspider or Pavitr will have a talk with the member despite being on separate teams.
Once The Spot becomes more dangerous while attempting to stop them, both teams will team up to stop him from terrorizing the multiverse.
Though with both Gwen’s Team and The Spider Society likely going after each other once Gwen rescues Miles, each of the teams could team up to rescue and save each of the spiders from being killed by The Spot while stopping the latter from killing Miles' father.
Once he ends up attempting to attack Miles, he will be called out how he doesn’t want to help save people’s lives or even care about anyone being killed or hurt.
Once he gets called out for not wanting to help Miles save his father from being killed by The Spot, he will start to realize that his actions cost his life of himself as well as for not helping anyone. Then he'll either decide to die through a Heroic Sacrifice or will be killed as a villain by the Spider-Gang
Once he realizes the cost of his actions, he will start to help his team including Gwen on stopping The Spot from destroying The Multiverse and killing Miles father.
Someone beloved dying is not a Canon Event, it's just fact as no one can live forever. Nor is humanity's curiosity to unlock new powers. The True Canon Event is someone rising up and stop the Super-Colliders from activating and destroying everything.
It didn’t have her meet any of her variants, that she may not know either that have existed before or after.
Beyond could have a few of her variants encounter or meet her throughout the Spider-Verse either during or near before the final battle with The Spot, telling her the importance of being a hero including a good mentor to her protégé.
- Spider-Woman
- 67 Spider-Woman
- Spider-Woman
- Spider-Woman
- Spider-Women
- Spider-Women
- Or maybe Jess will meet these variants in the Spider-Woman spinoff movie with Gwen and Silk.
Miles ends the movie tied to a literal punching bag, so he'll pull the same trick on Earth-42 Miles Peter B. did on him by rambling (possibly exaggerating how frightened he is). After taking a few minutes to pick Earth-42 Miles' brain, our Miles will drop this Wham Line on him:
Spider-Canada
- If she has a speaking role, famous Canadian VA Tara Strong will voice her.
- Is either Indeginous or Metis.
- Near the end of the movie, Gwen gives Miles The Big Damn Kiss and they officially become boyfriend and girlfriend.
- It would be interesting to see Margo's story, how she became Spider-Byte, what her life at home is like, and how she got recruited to defect from the Society to Gwen's gang after helping Miles escape.
- For Jessica's case, she should get a backstory sequence after she (hopefully and should) switches sides and joins the gang after finally deciding that Miguel is too far gone with his "Canon Event" and "Anomaly" theories and see that Miles and Gwen are right that destiny can be changed.
- Also, whoever gets these sequences should also make fourth-wall joke about the previous Spideys saying "Okay, let's do this one last time.", For example instead they can say "Let's do this again, probably not the last time"
- Perhaps it'll even come with a Meaningful Echo of Miles going "Nah, imma do my own thing." when Miguel questions why despite trying to stop him from saving his dad, he's come in to save him.
- Given all the horrible and harsh things he's doing, saving him and keeping him alive would cause another forced half-baked redemption that recent movies have been doing far too much. If Miguel pulls Heroic Sacrifice or a Redemption Equals Death, it should play straight.
- Too dark and disturbing
- Too sappy
Not knowing the full scope of his actions, Miguel believed the destruction to be the cause of Canon Events so he decides to enforce those events to prevent another disaster. Unfortunately over time, Miguel develop a hatred towards Spider-Men in general for being the ultimate rule breakers so he's going to make sure that each Spider faced their Canon Events. He did this by recruiting villains that escaped their universes and turned them into a hit squad, tasked to kill a Spider's loved one or comrade.
In truth, the Renaissance Vulture being at Gwen's Universe wasn't a coincidence. Miguel specifically had him targeted Captain Stacy and to kill him. However, Vulture went rogue and detecting a spike in Canon disruption, Miguel decided to intervene. Following this movie, Miguel had already planned to have Peter B. Parker killed so that Mayday can take his place.
- Alternatively, the two Miles run into one of the cartels during their chase/fight at the opening of the movie, causing Miles G. to be distracted and end up fighting the cartel instead. Miles seizes the opportunity to get away, but Conscience Makes You Go Back, and he returns in order to save Miles G. from the villain(s) he is fighting. This will also prompt Miles G. to realise "our" Miles is not a threat and the two end up forming an alliance.
- But he isn't the reason Earth-42's spider went to his universe.
Relating to this.
As a nod to Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time, the spiritural predescesors to Spider Men and later Spider Verse, particularly since, while it has since been retconed, I believe both games were meant to be canon to Earth 616 and affected worlds. Christopher in particular needs to have a role, since his cartoons Spider Wars finale laid the ground work for all of it.
- Spot sees Miguel's Spider-People gathering around the Morales residence and backs off, even if they were sent there to make sure he kills Jefferson
- Instead of a huge fight, Spot is just Brought Down to Normal and no longer a threat
- Similar to the comics, Miguel was tricked into thinking that Tempest died, triggering him to attempt to seek happiness by replacing an alternate version of him who died. Tempest will try to reason with Miguel.
- Miguel will lose control of his spider powers, becoming more spider than human and too dangerous. So it will be necessary to resort to Honey Bee to stop him. Unlike her counterpart of the comics, Tempest will not try to kill Miguel, but will instead manage to paralyze him with her poison in her Spider-Wasp form.
- Alternatively...
- I have a similar idea: Miguel not knowing what the Canon Events actually are. For example, the death of a captain close to Spider-Man event really being the captain losing their job and the easiest way for that to happen is death.
- After averting whatever disaster happens in Beyond, Miguel, Jessica and the rest of Spider Society say sorry to Miles and offer him a place, even giving him a spider watch. However, Miles understandably doesn't take it and crushes the watch before going home.
- Adding to this, Miles will reject being part of the Society, but he and Gwen's team will form their own "band", using Hobie's bootleg watches so they may visit each other and help each other out in their respective worlds instead. Miles might accept an apology from the Society, but being with his closest friends will be the most important for him.
This may even explain the title of the sequel: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
- At first, Miles will mistake Gabri for Miguel and try to run away from him. Until Gabri corners him and puts a bracelet on him to save him from dying for not being in his own dimension.
- Besides, his Arachnauts would be a great help to The Spider-Gang. These robots could be used to control a large number of members of the Spider-Society and prevent them from pursuing Miles and his companions, or extract useful information from a subordinate close to Miguel.
Mayday's very existence was a result of the Spot's actions. If she somehow acts as a spanner in his plans, then that's poetic justice.
- The Spot will try and point out how they both hate Miles, and says that they agree on him being a mistake, mainly to trip him up. However, having undergone Character Development, Miguel refutes his claims, and calls him out for trying to destroy everything Miles holds dear and threatening the multiverse for such a petty reason.
Half of them would be returning characters and the other half would be brand-new versions of pre-existing characters.
- Olivia Octavius/Doctor Octopus - If the extended cut is to be believed, then this Doctor Octopus survived that truck & will most likely be planning revenge on Miles, taking up the role traditionally held by most versions of Doc Ock within the Sinister Six.
- Jonathan Ohnn/ The Spot - Given that his threat hasn't been resolved yet, he'd most likely be convinced to join this Sinister Six to help in his vendetta against Miles.
- Earth-42 Miles Morales/The Prowler - The Across The Spider-Verse official art book describes Miles G. Morales as a vigilante rather than a villain of Earth-42, but that likely doesn't mean he won't be convinced... or worse... made Brainwashed and Crazy so he'd join the Sinister Six.
- Earth-42 Cindy Moon/Silk - Beyond The Spider-Verse introduces two versions of Cindy Moon, traditionally known as the heroine Silk. One would be the Cindy Moon from Earth-1610B who would somehow be bitten by a spider that gives her abilities similar to Spider-Man... and the other would be a more corrupt version of her from Earth-42. Based of the Cindy Moon of Earth-65 from the comics, she's a S.H.I.E.L.D. geneticist who broke bad after her spider research yielded people with superpowers. As the leader of her own organization, S.I.L.K., she became a billionaire through corporate espionage and the manipulation of world events during a mad quest for world domination that would earn her a place in the Sinister Six.
- Corrupted Gwen Stacy/She-Venom - On the topic of Earth-65 Cindy Moon, in the comics, she stole the power of Spider-Gwen, leading her to don a lab-made version of the Venom Symbiote. A fitting way of giving Spider-Gwen her own evil counterpart within the Sinister Six would be a corrupted version of Gwen Stacy merged with the Venom Symbiote.
- Miguel O'Hara/Spider-Man 2099? - Bent on ensuring the "canon event" where Miles loses his father to The Spot takes place as scheduled, Miguel would initially be assumed to be the leader of this multiversal Sinister Six, until a pivotal moment where his whole theory about Canon Events begins to fall apart... Miguel would be in utter denial... but then a voice in his head would gloat... one provided by Christopher Daniel Barnes.
- Earth-16827 Peter Parker/Wolf Spider - The true mastermind behind both Miguel's Canon Event Theory (along with the cosmic disaster that led to the theory in the first place) & the Multiversial Sinister Six, the Wolf Spider would probably be the same one from Ultimate Spider-Man or a brand-new version created for this film, but just like the Ultimate Spider-Man incarnation, he would be an alternate Peter Parker who for some reason rejected heroism and responsibility in favor of gaining as much power as he could. The reveal of the Wolf Spider should definitely come with a proper explanation on how he became evil in the first place. The Wolf Spider would kick-start the final battle by forcibly taking over Miguel's body & using his powers against the Spider-People, whether by taking over their minds or stealing their life-force, the Wolf Spider's ultimate goal would be to rule the Multiverse. The methods Miguel pushes in the name of his Canon Event Theory being antithetical to Spider-Man's ethos of always helping those in need would make sense in a truly nightmarish way if they turn out to be the result of being manipulated by an alternate timeline version of Peter Parker, the OG Spider-Man, who is the complete opposite of everything that Spider-Man stands for.
