This movie takes place in an Alternate Universe where Larry Talbot became a vampire after dying
- There is some folklore that says a werewolf would become a vampire after death...
- Plus, Son of Dracula and Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (where Larry Talbot returns, and is still a werewolf) both came out in 1943; it makes sense because that would be about where the timeline splits (Larry being revived as a vampire VS being revived as a werewolf)
- We see Larry's psychological distress at being a murderous beast during a full moon in the films that feature the Wolf Man; the prospect of being a similar creature 24/7 might actually drive him completely insane , mayhaps to the point of embracing his status as an evil creature of the night , as we see Count Alucard doing here.

- It's an individual movie, without connection with the past Dracula movies. Alucard is Dracula, from another universe.
- Along with House of Frankenstein, Son of Dracula is a sequel to the novel, not the previous films. Both Son and House tell us that the Count was killed in Transylvania, as in the novel - as opposed to London, as in the film.
Alucard is actually the son of Count Dracula.
