They are in purgatory, or some form a hell.- And Roland is Lucifer. He actually got kicked out of Heaven for being just as bad of an employee to God. But it's also why Hell doesn't live up to it's reputation. He's too lazy to fix it up.

Was the other guy with whom Twyla shared her lottery winnings, Mutt?
- In Season 1, Mutt and Twyla are suddenly estranged after being happy. Alexis's arrival doesn't cause the rift, but rather amplifies it. Mutt's aversion to Alexis's "princess-y" ways might be a reaction not just to their social differences but to the fact that Mutt might be adjusting to his new wealth. He, even more so than Twyla, seems like someone who would hide his wealth.
Alexis was a spy.
- Given all her objectively insane adventures and the fact that she escaped them relatively unharmed, some fans have speculated that Alexis was a spy or at the very least a CIA asset. The CIA, in fact, would have been remiss in not using her knowledge and skills. Even Annie Murphy has chimed in on this theory, loving it, while not saying if it is true or false.
