Lucus is connected to Emperor Ethelberd
Lucus is the Emperor reborn (returned from the Forest of Beginnings?). Both of them think they're gods at some point. Both of them have long hair and some facial hair, with Lucus having stubble in his art and Ethelberd having a goatee (that grew into a full beard over the time between the first Rune Factory and the sequel, Rune Factory 4). Lucus' skin tone and Ethelberd's skin tone in the first Rune Factory look very similar to each other. Lucus appears in a town that borders the Sechs Empire, and Ethelberd disappeared in a different town that borders the Sechs Empire. Lucus doesn't appear to have a deep hatred for Earthmates like Ethelberd developed late in life, but, then again, Lucus has lost his memory and is younger than the Emperor. They do have different hair colors, but, considering how Ethelberd is an old man with gray or white hair by the time we see him in Rune Factory and Lucus is younger than him, it's possible that Ethelberd had black/dark gray hair earlier in his life. Perhaps Ethelberd really did become a god, but reincarnated as Lucas after his defeat in Rune Factory 4.
  • Lucas does not know that player is an Earthmate and only learns upon his pre-marriage event, where Livia mentions it (otherwise, he doesn't know). Should the player confess to Lucas, after the protagonist transmits his/her feelings to Lucas, the thing that sticks out to him the most is how the protagonist is blessed by the Earth if him repeating the fact means anything. While he does agree to date the protagonist after that, he describes his feelings being most similar to love rather than love, which raise the question of what he was actually feeling. Ethelberd was obsessed with Earthmates, so Lucas could have felt a bit of that obsession when he learned that protagonist was "blessed by the Earth".
  • Since Lucas is most likely a god, he would lack at least some of insecurities that Ethelberd had. Ethelberd mentions that the protagonist of Rune Factory 4 shouldn't talk to Ethelberd about power, since the Earthmate already has the power he seeks. It's why he wanted to be a god in the first place, to have power. Lucas already has the power, so he has nothing to strive for in that regard.
  • Unlike other gods in the setting, Lucas appears to lack a dragon form and has a mundane name compared to the other known gods. According to this headcanon, it's because RF 4's protagonist separated Ethelberd from his dragon form, Ethelwill, before Ethelberd died/went to the Forest of Beginnings. Lucas therefore doesn't have a dragon form or an unusual name because of those events. If he did, then his name would most likely be Ethelwill. Because of the fusion of Ethelberd and Ventuswill, Lucas is still a god (it's why Ethelberd was consider monster-enough to go to the Forest of Beginnings in the first place), but not quite in the same way as the other known deities. Still, him being human in form is appropriate for a man-made god, considering how Ethelwill was made.
  • During Lucas' pre-marriage event, Livia mentions that Lucas has experienced poor luck since he was born or whenever he became a god. The latter heavily implies that a human becoming a god is very much possible, and, as mentioned before, no other known gods in the Rune Factory series are human - they're all dragons. The only human we know of to have at least gotten close was Emperor Ethelberd at the end of the 2nd arc in Rune Factory 4.
Lucus is actually an Earthmate
All the other Earthmates we know have (or get) amnesia. Lucus has amnesia, too, so maybe he's an Earthmate.
