In General
The islands are a training ground for heroes. This theory is supported by the fact that many of the islands in Poptropica feature quests and challenges that require the player to use their skills and courage to succeed. This suggests that the islands are designed to test and prepare players for greater challenges.

Magical Crystals
The Protectors’ symbol is shaped like a sun. The special treasure room that the Mole People have has a puzzle is in the shape of a sun. Both the Moles and Protectors like to collect crystals. The sun room shows their stash of crystals, not to mention they took a Chthonian egg (without knowing what it is) because of its crystals. The Protectors collected crystals from an island whenever it disappeared. Why would the Protectors make their symbol shaped like a sun? And why would the Moles have their treasure room puzzle shaped like a sun, if Moles are afraid of the light?Well, in Greek myth, the god Apollo was the god of many things, including the sun and oracles. He is also the god who offers help and protection, warding off evil. The Protectors’ main base of operations was powered by a crystal called the Aegis (shaped like their sun symbol). The word aegis means “a protection or support”. Similar to what Apollo does for people (it is also a shield that his family members use). What if Apollo helped the original Protectors many years ago and gave them visions of the future, which inspired them to base their symbol of protection off of him?As for the Moles...Their crystal sun puzzle is colored yellow. There is another magical crystal that’s colored yellow: A protective force shield! I know this item is found on Astro-Knights Island, but I’m willing to assume that like many crystals in Poptropica, you can find them anywhere under any island. My overall conclusion is that Apollo helped both of these groups in their early days. He’s pretty cool like that.

Time Tangled
In Time Tangled Island when you use the Time Watch Device, you’re not really traveling through time. Well, you are, but not in the way that you think! The watch is designed to travel through time, but since the world of Poptropica exists in this weird little pocket outside the normal timestreams, the time device instead teleports you to different islands that contain the specific time periods on the device. There's a magical barrier preventing time devices from taking people out of Poptropica (unless those time devices contain enough Time Crystals that power them). The alternate future worlds you travel to are also just different islands.24 Carrot

Legendary Swords
Test-123 (testing Poptropican and Jorge's former friend) is the hero of Legendary Swords.
He wears the Skull Mask that you find there, and his sword is the Rusty Relic (with a slightly different color). On one of the Legendary Swords posters, the silhouetted person resembles him.
He and Jorge are interested in violent games, and Legendary Swords' gameplay revolves around killing robots with weapons.

In Binary Bard’s dream, there are blue crystals that power up Binary Bard’s giant clock machine. Time and blue crystals are a recurring theme in his dream. In Astro-Knights Island, Mordred was able to create a portal to another dimension, where he had his Fortress. His portal is made of blue crystals (of a darker variety).
In the graphic novels, the Protectors were able to build a portal to other dimensions out of blue crystals (time crystals). Also in the final novel Binary Bard makes a funny cameo.
The Nexus and/or time crystals in general might have played a part in whatever the heck Mordred became in the future.

The four villains screamed “Freedom!” and “I’m outta here!” once they fell out of Erewhon Prison, which is not something a redeemed person would say. There’s also how, in every appearance after the release of this island, the villains are still portrayed as scheming and nefarious.
- Alternatively, the totems needed to be broken in order for the redemptions to work. Seeing that the final act had the totems preserved, the villains were still in their old mindsets.
- Then again, the only person who claimed that totem removal would remove someone’s villainy IS Dr. Jupiter.

Mystery of the Map/ Graphic Novels
In the Mystery of the Map Island game, the story of events is slightly different from the novel it was based on. Differences being:
- Octavian needs help getting out of the tree, instead of getting down himself
- The children need help getting away from the vikings, instead of escaping on their own
- The vikings don't take Octavian prisoner at the end, the dodo birds cause him to run off
This could mean that Mystery of the Map Island is from an alternate universe from the events of the novels, where the events would be slightly different. People from alternate universes would be slightly different, as Octavian and the children in the island are slightly less capable than they are in the novel universe.
The Nexus
The Nexus was created by the Titan Kronos, from Mythology IslandThis theory suggests that the Nexus may be part of a larger plan or scheme, and its true purpose may not be fully understood by mortals. So, what exactly IS this scheme? Well…
When Kronos was defeated by the Greek Gods, ending the Titanomachy, he was chopped up into pieces with his own scythe and thrown into Tartarus. Because he is the Titan god of Time, this is the moment where the Nexus and the Multiverse was created. Kronos created the Nexus to bring different timelines together, in order to find a way to escape.

The crystals under the island are somehow related to the crystals in the Nexus which are connected to other universes.
The two sides of Goofball island are actually two different dimensions that are crammed together because of the different crystals underneath the island.
