WMG / One Year on Probation

Go To

The car crash that killed Wakaba in canon is the one that put her in a wheelchair in this story.
  • Sojiro brings up an accident that took place when talking about the Isshiki family, so it is probably that.

Makoto and Akira will start developing feelings for each other during or after the Kaneshiro arc
  • Akira got arrested for trying to do the right thing and similarly Makoto is driven to do the right thing thanks to her idolization of her fatther, which will no doubt get her in trouble with the racketing ring like in canon. The two will probably bond over that aspect of themselves.

There will be a brief Love Triangle between Haru, Makoto, and Akira.
  • In the game, Haru develops feelings for the protagonist regardless of whether you choose to romance her or not. Assuming this part of the original game is retained in this story, something similar will happen, but Haru will decide not to pursue it, seeing that Akira and Makoto are together.

How Makoto will learn the circumstances behind Akira's probation
  • Just like in canon, Makoto will try look into the scamming ring, but with no Phantom Thieves to help. Akira will call her out when she gets herself into trouble with the mafia, telling her that having Chronic Hero Syndrome will just lead to bad things happening, speaking from experience.

Goro's character will undergo complete Adaptational Heroism and not be the Sixth Ranger Traitor.
  • Since the Metaverse and the Persona power does not exist, Goro will not go down the dark path by abusing the power. Furthermore, he has a friendly relationship with the Niijima sisters, plus Word of God says that he's much more stable. He might end up becoming genuine friends with Akira and his group because of this. That isn't to say that he doesn't have a dark side though; he freely admits to Makoto he looks forward to exposing a scandal revolving around his teacher who is having an affair, meaning that his contempt for the adult world is still present.

The reason why Goro isn't present with the others at the hospital in the beginning
  • The above WMG says the possibly that he and Akira will become friends, but it should be noted that he is not present with the others when Akira is hospitalized. The most likely scenario is due to the author stating that Goro initially wasn't going to be in this story, but a in-story reason for his absence could be for vengeful reasons.
    • Angered that the man who made his life miserable indirectly led to the near-death of a dear friend, much like how his mother was Driven to Suicide, Goro decides to pursue his vengeance by any means necessary by looking into anything that could bring Shido down, causing him to become too busy to go with the others to the hospital. He might even go as far as to reveal himself as Shido's illegitimate son to ruin his career.
      • The interlude that goes back to the present briefly mentions Akechi and that he's working on an investigation, so part of the above WMG might be the case.
  • Alternatively, traffic was a bitch.

Akira will be initially reluctant to pursue a relationship with Makoto
  • In the aftermath of the Kamoshida arc, Akira actually asks Ann and Ryuji if they're okay with hanging out with a criminal, only to be reminded that the two of them are outcasts as well. Makoto, on the other hand, is an honor student, so having someone so prestigious having relations with a delinquent could potentially get people talking negatively. Makoto, on the other hand, will not care, knowing that his criminal record is unjust. She'll probably tell him that the student body views her as complicit in Kamoshida's crimes, so she's in a similar situation in which she's not well liked anyway. Part of her character arc is breaking away from what adults tell her to do, so she'd just ignore the expectation of an honor student staying away from a delinquent.

Akechi will have a My God, What Have I Done? moment with Akira
  • While being polite when speaking to Akira, Akechi is quick to judge him for his criminal record, going as far as to tell him not to hurt Makoto in any way, something that irritates him. Once he learns the circumstances behind the probation, however, he will realize his mistake and try to make amends.
