I can see it now: The opera comes to an end, Kafei has failed to stop the moon and he knows it, and goes to be with his beloved Anju, where they reenact the scene from the game. Holding each other, waiting for the end to come, the Song of Time played on pipes will echo and the show will cut to black, implying this was NOT an Alternate Universe, but happened right before the first cycle.
