    Open Theories
Perhaps the poor thing is desperate for company and those deafening noises are simply its attempts at communication, not realizing that these auditory calls are utterly terrifying to many people and put them into a fight-or-flight response. When it grabs the camera guy at the end, it's not trying to kill him, it just doesn't want to be alone, nor does it want him to fall backwards. It wants a friend.
  • During the chase, if you listen closely, at one point the entity sounds like it's repeatedly yelling "Don't move!", just like the message on the wall the camera guy found previously. Perhaps it was written by the entity in order to distract and prevent whomever finds it from getting further lost in the maze, and also to make sure the wanderer wouldn't run away out of fear when it finally reveals itself in a safe distance. And since that failed on the camera guy, the entity desperately tried to stop him from running by chasing him, but ultimately failed.
  • The entity that grabs the camera guy at the end may even have playfully uttered "Boo. :)" and was humoring him about not knowing where he was hiding. Considering the entity actually saves our main character from falling to his death via a dangerous Frontrooms portal, there's a chance he got saved from an almost guaranteed demise.
    • Original Poster: Great catch, the noise it makes before the camera guy turns around actually does sound like an oddly adorable "Boo. :)"
  • However, the victims are almost certainly doomed anyway, since even if the entity does not kill them, the hostile microbial environment of the Backrooms (as described in "Autopsy Report") will - especially after direct contact with a creature that's probably swarming with the stuff.

In "Pitfalls", Marvin is infected by the Bacteria, and will either die/turn into one of them.
From what we know, there is a type of bacteria in the Backrooms that appears to be a mutated form of hay bacillus, which would normally be harmless, but it seems to have transformed into some type of fungus that can coat walls, as seen with the corpse discovered in "Missing Persons". When Marvin discovers a Bacteria, its entire roam is coated in a mold/fungus-type growth, and when he escapes, he begins to cough quite a lot. While this could be interpreted as being out of breath, it's also possible that the fungus somehow got inside his hazmat suit, and infected him somehow. Given the hints that the series has given us about the infection (such as implying in "Simpsons" that it attacks the lungs), it is possible he is infected in some way.
The bacterium don't have set personalities and might vary in threat level as a result.
  • Backrooms (Found Footage):
    • The first Bacteria in (Found Footage) was either shy, concerned about infecting the camera guy, too depressed to communicate, or something else.
    • The second Bacteria seems ambiguous in disposition, perhaps also not being interested in communication.
    • The third may be ecstatic at finding someone, but their attempts to keep up with the camera guy were either hostile or poor communication. Maybe the instinct to chase took hold.
    • The fourth might be playful or a prankster, howling like its a game of hide and seek, and snatching the camera guy in a manner like "Boo (I found you)."
  • Backrooms - Pitfalls: This one seems like a troll, luring Marvin E. Leigh and then going berserk like "Fooled you! You'd better start running!"
  • Backrooms - Found Footage #2: This one seems to be in agony and in a panic, like memory of being human still remains. Again, either poor communication or the instinct to chase taking over.

Marvin and Randall's discovery of the presumed-dead Peter Petch will have a huge impact on their relationship with ASYNC.
The cover story of Peter dying in a crash is presumably blown. Peter and Randall will need to outwit the Corrupt Corporate Executive(s) who want to keep this covered up. It remains to be seen how this development will unfold.

Kane Pixel's The Oldest View ties in with The Backrooms.
The huge underground stairwell of absurd length is possibly an anomaly that materialized in the setting's world. The abandoned mall could be an A-SPACE project that got canceled and left to rot with the mall music still playing over the loud speakers, or another Time Crash anomaly.
  • Possibly jossed because the cameraman references the Backrooms in the most recent episode, meaning Kane Pixels might also exist in that universe? Still could be open though.
  • With "The Oldest View 3" released, the mall's anomalous nature was elaborated upon. It's presented as backrooms-like with the risk of the stairwell entrance "caving in" mysteriously and "The Rolling Giant" having elements of an entity, but there's still a sense of open mystery to the mall's origins for the viewer to ponder. At the end of the movie, the main character Wyatt seems to have been ejected from the mall dimension after falling to his presumed death as if glitching back to reality, like a reverse noclip effect. Curious.
    • Keep in mind that episode also has Wyatt referencing the Backrooms by name, so unless there's some Recursive Canon going on this seems unlikely.
      • Although to be fair, Wyatt only said "the backrooms from Tiktok". He never said Kane Pixels by name. And other people have created their own Backrooms videos, and Wyatt might be referencing those. So the theory could still be possible, and the line was simply an out-of-universe humorous way for Kane making a nod at his other series.
    • It is curious that the mystery mall is heavily implied to be in Santa Venetia, California as Wyatt drives past Point Gallinas Rd, westbound on N San Pedro Rd. With ASYNC being somewhere in the Bay Area as well, there is much to entertain the imagination.

    Jossed Theories
The voices from missing persons are Kane’s interpretation of the Partygoers.
Although some think that the voices are more Wire-Entities, I believe that they might be Kane’s stylized version of the Partygoers, evidenced by the fact that you can slightly hear what sounds like chatting and, well, partying.
  • Most likely jossed thanks to the reveal of Bacteria being able to mimic human speech, combined with overall lack of acknowledgment of the Wiki. As the series has progressed, it's become clear that the setting is a more down-to-earth and minimalist adaptation of the Backrooms; however, the Bacteria being mutated humans is similar in spirit.

The wire entity(s) is a droid, synthetic being, or beyond our understanding for this moment.
The lack of typical physiology seems to preclude the need to eat or hunt. They might have mission parameters and be oriented towards tracking beings in the backrooms. The entity encountered at the end of "The Backrooms (found footage)" seems robotic especially with how they scan the area for our main character. If nourishment isn't a driving force, study and gathering data might be one.
  • Jossed, their mutated bacteria composition is now confirmed as the plot has unfolded.

The wire entity(s) is a motion detecting camera, taken over and turned sentient by bacteria.
This has a surprising amount of evidence behind it:
  • In "The Backrooms (Found Footage)", the writing on the wall that reads "DON'T MOVE, STAY STILL" could be implying that the entity only becomes violent if it detects motion, which lines up with both its encounter in that video and the encounter in "Pitfalls".
  • The entity's earliest recorded appearance, in "Motion Detected", takes place shortly after one of the cameras is stated to be missing in the same video.
  • "Pitfalls" shows that the entity seemingly has the ability to record and play back audio... just like a camera. While the entity in "The Backrooms (Found Footage)" sounds completely different, that video comes later in the timeline, so that could be explained by the audio playback being distorted due to the equipment being damaged.

In "Found Footage" The abandoned "home" and "Heathrow Holiday Inn Express" zone are failed A-SPACE colonization attempts.
Someone requested a replica of the Holiday Inn Express at Heathrow Airport, perhaps for the nostalgia value of A-SPACE zones that resembles real life spaces. This would help create more comforting and familiar surroundings. However, this zone was deemed unsafe to inhabit, judging by the sounds of feral entities roaming around the "Holiday Inn Express" region. Additionally, another explorer(s) was there with the Camera Guy, looking out through a courtyard window.
  • The problem with this theory is that the Holiday Inn Express was opened in 2018, 22 years after the events in Found Footage. And taking into account that the Backrooms feature non linear time, and that so far there is no actual proof that A-Sync ever went through with commercializing Backrooms, its more likely that these are cases of the Backrooms copying reality.
