Jim McAllister is actually Ferris Bueller all grown up.
After people finally caught on to what a Manipulative Bastard Ferris really was, he changed his name and fled. After earning his teaching degree, he started his life anew, thinking he had gotten away scot-free. But karma caught up with Ferris, and he's finally having to pay for all the sins of his youth.
  • To go even further you could say his vendetta against Tracy boils down to the fact that she represents what he used to be as a teenager and that realization made him hate himself so much that he pretty much took on the Principle Rooney role in ensuring that Tracy is brought down a peg or two.
  • On the contrary, McAllister/Bueller may have been trying to revive his carefree teen spirit through Paul Metzler, and help him overturn the system. Paul is his current day Cameron: easily persuadable and not as fortunate as Ferris had been (for that year, because of an injury that kept him off the football team and kind of lost about what to do with his life.)
