This page is for Wild Mass Guessing for Diablo II only.

Diablo III WMGs please put on the WMG page for that game.

A low-flying aircraft was flying over the area with a big load of treasure chests when the rear hatch opened and the plane accidentally dumped them in a wide swath over the land.
This explains all of the Inexplicable Treasure Chests everywhere.
  • It's more likely that they were abandoned when the people that used to live in those locations fled/were killed.
    • So they were still running past Lut Gholein?

Marius was a highly skilled thief or spy before joining the Wanderer
How else could he slip into the third floor of the Durance of Hate unnoticed?
  • The durance of hate was overrun by demons after Mephisto was released. The place was quite empty beforehand.
    • One could easily assume that the wanderer cleared the floors as he made his way to the chamber. Through all the cut-scenes, Marius never showed any real measure of conpetence at anything.
    • As Ormus says, "The Travincal can be breached by the loss of one's wits, not by the use of them." That's probably how Marius breached the Travincal: he was pretty much insane by that point. And as for why the demons and Zakarumites didn't stop him... he was no threat to them, and they knew it.

The reason the characters from II have gone Ax-Crazy was due to doing the same boss kill over and over again for year after year
Think about it, how would you feel if you were forced to kill Baal several hundred times for that Pelta Lunata or any other unique equipment?
  • They, um, don't? Apparently the 'Characters Gone Bonkers' thing got scrapped by Blizzard.

Poison ivy is growing in the wild areas of Act I
That's why the characters don't hop the wall and cut over to the next zone. The areas behind the walls are just filled with poison ivy and poison oak.

The game's difficulty levels.
  • Normal is the heroes' adventure as it happened.
  • Nightmare is their... well, nightmares which they get from fighting demons all day.
  • Hell is their afterlife in which the Burning Hells got their hands on them and threw them into the same thing over and over again, only with far stronger enemies.

Marius was adventuring in Tristram's dungeons.
  • Marius is the fourth adventurer from the 1st Diablo because the game allows a maximum of 4 players.
  • He left far earlier than the other heroes because of the horrors he witnessed and his lack of fighting skills.
  • This would explain why he found refuge at the Rogue's monastery and can't sleep at night.
  • It's no coincidence that he followed Diablo because he too was corrupted during his time in the dungeons.

The Archbishop Lazarus shattered Mephisto's Soulstone.
  • Sankekur's letter to Lazarus talks about the latter's task of guarding Mephisto's Soulstone, and how it had taken a toll on Lazarus' sanity, and demands that they meet to discuss that task. Lazarus probably shattered Mephisto's Soulstone and stabbed Sankekur and the High Council with the shards himself.
