WMG / Cartoons in Danganronpa

As this is a WMG page, spoilers will be unmarked. You Have Been Warned!

Surviving students
  • Dipper: Naturally, since he's the protagonist.
  • Jenny: Considering her title, I can picture most of the students being too afraid to risk killing her, which makes the only way of her dying being if she gives into the motives. I don't think that many of them will affect her. Not to mention, since she's made of metal, it will take a lot of kill her.
  • Kyle: IDK something about him says survivor to me.
  • Bubbles: At least one of the Powerpuff Girls should make it out of the killing game, and Bubbles is the sweetest member of the sisters. It would be heart-shattering if she ended up murdered or executed.

Ed will die in Chapter 4
Ed being the big strong guy with the heart of gold in a Danganronpa series would put a target on his back by default.

One student will commit murder by accident
Characters like Charlotte and Ed are so sweet that them willfully committing a murder would be unbelievably out of character, but having all of the culprits be the likes of Cartman and Vendetta would be too obvious.

The two missing students
During his interlude, Membrane reveals mentions two other students were attending Hope's Peak: a second Ultimate Magician and an Ultimate Scientist. Who are they? Feel free to add your own guesses
  • Ultimate Magician:
    • Timmy Turner: It's possible that Timmy lied and claimed that he was conjuring up all the things that Cosmo and Wanda create, which earned him the title.
    • Lincoln Loud: He's shown skill as a magician in a few episodes.
  • Ultimate Scientist:
    • Dexter: Completely within Dexter's skill level.
    • Jimmy Neutron: Same as Dexter.
    • Double D: He is confirmed to be another Hope's Peak student, and he easily fits the bill. Also, Eddy complains that Double D found a new group of friends in "Chapter 1 (what you DIDN'T see)" and the "...Talents?" short revealed that the Ultimate Scientist was more like a faculty member than a student.
    • Zim: While it would be a bit disappointing for it to be a student we already know, he is the Ultimate "Extraterrestrial" Scientist. It's possible that Membrane just left that word off for the sake of brevity.
    • Phineas Flynn: Same as Dexter and Jimmy.

What's up with Cartman's "filter?"
During Chapter 1, Cartman seems to start saying things he wants to keep hidden. Such as when he blurts out that he was trying to figure out who to kill. What could be the cause of this?

Who murdered Star?
  • Cartman: He already showed interest in getting the game started.
    • Eh, I wouldn't count on it. He's showing shades of being the secondary antagonist, and I doubt they'd kill someone like that super early on. Plus... I really don't think Cheesy would leave us with that obvious of a first case.
  • Mabel: Because the decoy heroine is almost always the first one to kill or be killed.
  • Charlotte: Given that the murder happened in the kitchen, it's very likely that Cupcake will be an important clue, whether it's being a key witness or being used to hide the weapon. Possibly meaning that things won't end well for Charlotte.
    • Dunno, she's too nice and too dumb to pull a murder off.
    • Fair point. However, if I may counter, there's the above WMG about a student (such as Charlotte or Ed) committing murder by accident. For all we know Star's murder may not have been intentional.
  • Vendetta: As with Charlotte, the murder happened in the kitchen (which is her usual hangout), and although Cupcake's hatred of Vendetta means she couldn't use it to hide the murder weapon, she's far more intelligent and vicious than Charlotte and thus is a more likely suspect.
  • Dib: He is the Ultimate Paranormal Investigator, so he is the only one besides Vendetta who would know to hide his face from Cupcake. He could also arrange a meeting with Star in hopes of repairing her scissors for the same reason. Lastly, it is tradition to kill off somebody important to prove Anyone Can Die.

Who's the Mastermind?
  • Zim: The "Prologue....Prologue?" implies that the world suffered an Alien Invasion from creatures that sound an awful lot like the Irkens (the ability to disguise themselves as humans and a certain unspecified weakness, of which the Irken have many), and ThatCheesyBastard has stated that all the Invader Zim characters are primarily based on the original cartoon rather than the comic or Enter the Florpus, so it's entirely possible that in the CiDR universe the Irken Armada did invade Earth.
  • Buttercup: The "Prologue...Prologue?" also shows a kid in a dark purple parka with sleeves too long for their arms cursing the idea of Hope's Peak Academy and claiming they wouldn't accept them, and the second part of Chapter 1 revealed that Buttercup didn't get accepted into the Ultimate course because she didn't have a talent that wasn't related to her powers.
  • Membrane: That bonus clip of him was extremely suspicious, since he outright said that there's something he's doing that his co-worker Nora Wakeman won't like. A killing game that would include her daughter certainly would fit. Not to mention, the series didn't start with him being executed like Jin Kirigiri in Trigger Happy Havoc.
  • Charlotte: While there's not much evidence, and in canon she may be Too Dumb to Live, who's to say that her behavior just a ruse here? It could be enough to keep people off of her trail.
  • Morty: But as a twist, it turns out he's actually Evil Morty, possibly having pulled a Kill and Replace to steal another Morty's spot in the school to spite Rick.
  • Black Hat: Because why not?

Either Cartman, Zim, Vendetta, or Eddy will commit the Chapter 3 double murder.
Because one is always committed by the most evil member of the cast, and those four have the lowest Empathy stats.

The whole thing is in a VR simulation like Danganronpa 2.
It would explain why:
  • Blossom is unable to break her Monopad, because it is an unbreakable asset like the toilet paper in V3.
  • Monokuma is able to throw counters at the special abilities of the students, because doing so would be as easy as reprogramming the properties of their avatars or tools.
  • None of the characters have aged at all, despite it being implied that the characters have Laser-Guided Amnesia, with Star in particular not knowing who Marco is despite him being considered important enough to be taken hostage.

Someone is going to take control of Jenny to force her to commit murder.
This would lead to something like Chapter 5 of Goodbye Despair where Dipper has to put together the clues even though the case seems clean cut against Jenny. The trial could also end in one of two ways. Either Monokuma degrees Jenny is still the killer, leaving her controller despised by everyone left in the game or Monokuma rules that the controller was the killer and Jenny was the murder weapon.

Cartmann will be a victim
Considering that he's The Friend Nobody Likes among the group, it wouldn't be such a stretch that at some point someone would just kill him, even if it would invoke Who Murdered the Asshole.
