Jesper Andersson's arc in S1 was loosely based on a real-life case

  • Jesper Andersson was publicly known as a model policeman who did volunteer work with teenagers, though as it turns out, he was also a sadist who would kidnap people (including teenagers), rape and torture them and film the sexual assault. A little over a year before the show aired, Swedish police chief Göran Lindberg, known for his fervor on gender equality and sexual harrassment issues - his nickname was "Kapten Klänning", meaning "Captain Dress" - had been convicted on very similar charges.

Martin didn't kill anyone in the S2 finale

  • We only see him throw away the coffee cup. When Saga confronts him, he asks "Are you sure I killed him"? At no point does he admit doing it and it is entirely possible that he was going to, but changed his mind. Jens either was killed by someone else or genuinely committed suicide.
    • Jossed. Martin goes to prison for Jens' murder and it is never brought up again.

Potential future Foreign Remakes

  • Many bordering nations could remake The Bridge for their own audiences, using picturesque crossings as their first crime scenes.
