Vee when the date begins.
Vee is Calling is a short visual novel released by Mimi Chiu in 2016. You meet Vee online and decide to have a video call as your first date, but something is amiss with your computer. The game is available to play for free here.

Vee Is Calling provides examples of:

  • Brainy Brunette: Vee is brunette and a computer scientist.
  • Dating Service Disaster: You and Vee met online, but all she wants is to steal the files from your computer.
  • Featureless Protagonist: The only thing confirmed about the player character is that they're a graphic designer; everything else is ambiguous.
  • Heel Realization: In the good ending, Vee comes to the conclusion that you don't deserve to have your files stolen because you were so nice the entire time. She restores them and disconnects the call.
  • Hollywood Hacking: Somehow Vee takes control of the player character's computer from a simple video call.
  • Kubrick Stare: The hacker Vee gives one of these to the player in the bad ending.
  • Last-Second Ending Choice: No matter your previous dialogue options, only whether or not you're more concerned about your computer files going missing or your virtual date with Vee determines if Vee takes over your system or releases your files to you.
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: Is Vee an AI, or just a really good hacker? She says she's physically incapable of making art, is inside all the time on her computer, and video feed is covered in visual glitches by the end, but the game never confirms one way or the other.
  • Oblivious Guilt Slinging: If the player believes Vee's excuses about the disapearing files, she gets conflicted about taking over your computer.
  • Psychotic Smirk: If all the player cares about are their files going missing instead of their date, then Vee has this expression while taking over their computer.
  • Saying Too Much: Vee knows the player character is a graphic designer before they tell her.
  • Surprisingly Creepy Moment: If you tell Vee that you're worried about your files, she smugly tells you that your computer is hers as her eyes turn black and red.
  • The Shut-In: Vee doesn't get out much.
