In the distant future, humanity has made contact with an alien lifeform in the middle of the desert near Aquarine City. The world's governments have done their best to conceal their existence to prevent a panic, but they run into a serious problem...the military forces are having a problem of their own in an attempt to contain them.

In the midst of the assault, a named Lieutenant lands in the military base that exists as the last line of defense to prevent the aliens' existence from breaking out. By volunteering for a secret project that involves gene therapy and assigned at the base, you are probably the best chance humanity has to fight off the aliens before they escape. While you're at it, you have a chance to hit on a number of officers who are all female for your convenience, each with their own distinct histories and personalities.

Just Deserts is an Indonesian Visual Novel created by Vifth Floor and distributed by Sekai Project. A later DLC patch introduces a sixth girl for you to date as well.

Tropes included:

  • Brown Note: Getting too close to the aliens makes people go mad.
  • Expy: The aliens are comparable to the ELS, due to their shapeshifting ability and conflict being the result of no proper communication.
  • French Jerk: Cecile, at least when dealing with Cornelia or Jennifer.
  • Hidden Depths: All of the girls have it to a degree:
    • Jennifer is the most notable one. The reason for her constant disobedience and disrespect for the rules comes from her cynical views of the military, starting when a soldier who saved her was killed by a stray IED long before she could have a chance to thank her. She is also part of a rich family, which once got her held for ransom before being rescued by that same soldier, and she joined the military so she could escape their expectations.
  • Kill Sat: There is one being developed by the military, which is used as an effective means against the Final Boss.
  • Mecha-Mooks: The Machina and Crisis aliens give this impression.
  • Mildly Military: Jennifer is very lax when it comes to the rules, much to Cornelia's annoyance. There's more to her than one thinks.
  • Multinational Team: Every girl has a unique nationality with Cornelia (British), Yumi (Japanese-Indonesian), Cecile (French), Jennifer (American), and Eve (who is actually an alien).
  • Not Evil, Just Misunderstood: Quite literally. The aliens don't want to do harm to people, they just accidentally hurt people via their telepathic communication being too much for the human brain. They're looking for a new homeworld and are just passing through.
  • Otherworldly Communication Failure: The unnamed Starfish Aliens have seemingly invaded Earth for unknown reasons and are causing anyone who gets too close to them to become catatonic. However, Eve’s ending reveals that it’s not an invasion: the aliens are travellers looking for a new homeworld, and they’re just making a stopover on Earth so they can gather the resources they need to finish the journey. The Brown Note is caused by them attempting to communicate their intentions through telepathy, which is inadvertently harmful to human brains; they never intended to hurt anyone, and the ones you fight are only acting in self-defense.
  • Starfish Aliens: The aliens would tank up the form of cubes, octahedrons, and spheres.
  • World of Action Girls: All of your assistants who can join you for patrol work are girls.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Jennifer and Cecile.
