This is the second game in the Style Boutique series, which released on the 3DS in 2012.
You've just moved to a new town, and are fortunate enough to immediately find a job at a boutique run by Evie (Michaela in North America), the famous jet-setting stylist. After proving your chops, Evie will hand the shop over to you, leaving you to maintain a diverse stock of clothing while seeing to your customers' needs, and at the same time making a name for yourself in the town's nightly fashion shows.
Clothing options have expanded to include handbags, as well as several ranges of menswear, for a total of 12,000 individual items.
This game provides examples of:
- Almost Famous Name:
- One of the customers, Selena, is named after Selena Gomez.
- One of the customers, Demi is named after Demi Lovato.
- And Your Reward Is Clothes: If you fill-up the happiness meter, you get a random piece of clothing you don't yet have in your wardrobe at the end of the day.
- Art Evolution: The art style is more detailed and less cartoony than the previous game.
- Ascended Fangirl: Lisa, the Marble Lily brand representative, was a customer who liked their clothes in the first game.
- Big Brother Worship: Flora, the girl who runs a flower stand in the park, absolutely adores her older brother Florian... until they reappear in Styling Star at least.
- But Thou Must!: Evie won't take no for an answer when she wants you to work for her.
- Cannot Spit It Out: Poor Brad. It's especially apparent during the summer event where he takes your character to see fireworks. Also, Miles to Evie.
- Captain Colorbeard: Some customers are named after colours. Examples are Red and Scarlet.
- Character Customization: Players get to customize their avatar after they finished the game's progress. This can be found on the home screen as "Bonus Mode".
- Continuity Nod: Dominic, Grace, and Renee will visit the protagonist's shop and point out that she reminds them of another fashionista from their town (the first game's protagonist). Dominic even points out after buying clothes different from his usual style that he wants to wear them for going out to dinner with a girl, but that she might not say anything because she's really quiet.
- Cool Crown: The wedding outfit, from the Purple Moon brand, has a tiara.
- Downloadable Content: The game has free clothes DLC, such as a Totakeke inspired T-shirt. In Japan, it received DLC from the real Lolita fashion brand Baby the Stars Shine Bright.
- Dub Name Change: In North America, Evie became Michaela, and has a different appearance. This implies to the customers as well.
- Fairytale Wedding Dress: One of the costumes from the Purple Moon brand.
- Floral Theme Naming: Two of your customers are twin sisters named Violet and Rose, plus there's the brother-and-sister duo Florian and Flora (Reed and Daisy in America).
- Going Through the Motions: The characters in the game use new stock motions which are different from the first game.
- Happy Dance: The characters do this as one of their stock motions.
- Head-Turning Beauty: The protagonist in the American version has several people comment on her beauty.
- Jaw Drop: The characters do this as one of their stock motions. Usually, this happens when they are surprised or happy.
- Lampshade Hanging: At the cafe, the customer will say "Does [insert customer name] sound like an old lady". This may be due to the fact in real life, a woman starts to sound like an old lady when she is sick.
- Leg Focus:
- The protagonist, the boutique customers, and/or the model you picked for the fashion contest can wear hot pants, a miniskirt, or minidress which show off their legs, whether they're bare or wearing tights, leggings, or socks. Character examples are:
- Harriet/Emmylou: Fitted Miniskirt, sometimes with tights.
- Lola/Avery: Either a Minidress or Miniskirt, depending on the outfit.
- Tess/Teagan: Hot Pants and Lace-Edged Capri Leggings for the spring and summer outfits.
- Nicky: Hot Pants and Ripped Leggings.
- Zahra/Brienne: Micro-Miniskirt and Ripped Leggings.
- The player can zoom in to the protagonist's legs in the outfit screen.
- The player can also zoom in to the boutique customer's legs after being given a new item and/or outfit.
- A cutscene after a female customer puts on a given bold/chic item or outfit (via the "Try it on!" option) would show a brief shot of her legs.
- One of the photo shoot poses would have one of the protagonist's legs seen in full at the bottom of the top screen.
- During fashion contests, one of the shots would have the camera pan up from the model's legs as she walks forward.
- The protagonist, the boutique customers, and/or the model you picked for the fashion contest can wear hot pants, a miniskirt, or minidress which show off their legs, whether they're bare or wearing tights, leggings, or socks. Character examples are:
- Loading Screen: Appears after starting the game, as well as using online services.
- Local Hangout: Including the cafe, beach, meadows, funfair, etc.
- Lovable Alpha Bitch: This time it's Harriet, Evie's other assistant. She's always friendly to everyone but still takes it as a given that she'll be the first to win the International Contest.
- Major General Song: During fashion contests, MC Mode will sometimes say "I AM the very Mode-l of a modern major broadcaster!"
- Market-Based Title:
- We're using the European title, for differentiation reasons.
- In America, it's Style Savvy: Trendsetters
- In Japan, it's Self-Indulgent Fashion: Girls Mode Avaricious Declaration! (Heartbeat up!)
- In Korea, it's Girls Style: Fashion Leader Declaration!
- Missing Steps Plan: This can be found in the description for one of the fashion contest models.
- Ms. Fanservice:
- The protagonist, the boutique customers, and/or the model you picked for the fashion contest can be dressed in hot and/or form-fitting clothing. Examples are:
- Bikini Tops
- Miniskirts
- Hot Pants
- Leggings (both long and capri lengths)
- Stilettos
- Photographer Tess (aka Teagan in North America)'s spring and summer outfits (aside from her cap) are mostly form-fitting. They consist of a sleveless fitted top (a tank top for spring, and a halter top for summer), hot pants, lace-edged capri leggings, and open-toe ankle boots.
- The protagonist, the boutique customers, and/or the model you picked for the fashion contest can be dressed in hot and/or form-fitting clothing. Examples are:
- Noodle Incident: A few of the customers' requests.
- Only One Name: Everyone.
- Only One Save File: Like all other games on the Nintendo 3DS console, the game only uses one save file.
- One-Steve Limit: Due to some errors in international versions of the game, two random customers are given the same name. An example is "Maria" in the Spanish version.
- Opening the Sandbox: Things take off immensely once you take management of the shop.
- Real Men Wear Pink: Some male customers wear pink clothing.
- Retcon: Dazies from the first game doesn't get a counterpart, instead being split into Retrobeat and April Bonbon (Mint Sprinkles in America).
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here!: If you give the customer an item that does not match their request, they will leave the boutique.
- Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness: Flora starts using as many big words as she can after Florian tells her she's incorrigible.
- Shout-Out: Pokémon Red and Blue, referencing the Youngster who says that “I like shorts! They’re comfy and easy to wear!”: Sometimes customers will say "I like camisoles! They're comfy and easy to wear!".
- Split Personality: Tess (aka Teagan in North America) would usually be sassy, but without her camera, she'd be calm/relaxed, and enjoy looking at the meadows.
- Supermodel Strut: Seen during fashion contests. It can also be used as one of the poses exclusive to AR photo shoots.
- Super Title 64 Advance: Because it's on the 3DS, of course, it was New. Averted with the North American release.
- Unlimited Wardrobe: To the point that Chad will occasionally ask if your parents are millionaires.
- Vague Age: The characters' ages are not confirmed. The customers look to be in their early teens to late thirties.
