Horizon Zero Dawn is a post-apocalyptic Action RPG from the Amsterdam-based developer Guerrilla Games, and written by John Gonzalez. Released for the Playstation 4 on February 28, 2017, then later on Steam on August 7, 2020. It is the first game in the Horizon series.

In a future where cities have fallen into ruin to be reclaimed by nature, new tribes have risen up, and strange animalistic machines now control the land. The story focuses on a young woman named Aloy (Ashly Burch), who hunts these machines in a post-apocalyptic setting that mixes futuristic enemies and weaponry with beautiful, untamed wilderness. Born into ostracism by superstition and her attachment to the one charged with raising her, she embarks on a journey to find answers to the mystery of her birth, seeing her climb from lowly beginnings to great heights, aided by a mysterious artifact from the civilization of the past.

Its DLC expansion pack, The Frozen Wilds, was released on November 7, 2017.

• Fortnite (2017) - Aloy was added as a skin in 2021.
• Monster Hunter: World (2018) - A limited time event allowed players to unlock Horizon Zero Dawn-based equipment and skins.
• Death Stranding (2019) - Holograms of Aloy and several of the machines are available as structure customizations.
• Genshin Impact (2020) - Aloy was released as a playable Cryo character, and comes along with her own 4-star "Predator" bow weapon. She is available for free in Version 2.1 for Playstation 4 & 5 players, while becoming available for players on other platforms in Version 2.2.
• Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout (2020) - An Aloy costume and other goodies are available on Season 6, during the limited-time "Aloy's Challenge" live event, running from December 6-10, 2021. Players have to complete challenges and collect Blaze Canisters, scattered throughout certain rounds in the dedicated show "Aloy's Blaze Canister Mayhem", in order to win the prizes. Rhinos and Pegwins are also reskinned to match the look of the machines in Horizon.
• LEGO (2022) - A set depicting Aloy climbing the Devil's Thirst tallneck and a Watcher was released in May 2022.
