Jon, I require lasagna.
Vs. Gorefield is a Friday Night Funkin' Game Mod by Jloor and ZERO made in 2022, based on Lumpy Touch's Garfield Gameboy'd video and, consequently, the dark Gorefield meme.

On March 16th, 2024, the mod's Version 2 came out, massively expanding the mod to remaster all 3 original songs, double the size of the main week, and add several other weeks and songs based on various Lumpy Touch and Garfield-related properties. A small hotfix update was released on April 6, 2024, fixing some bugs and adding a ton of new codes to the game.

Boyfriend is Jon's friend, and he went to his house to try to get rid of his cat, Garfield, who has been turned into a murderous monstrosity that wants to kill his owner. So naturally, Boyfriend decides that the only solution to such a problem is rap battles!

Scrapped

  1. Lasagna Boy (Gorefield vs. Lasagna Boy Jon vs. Boyfriend)

  • Adaptation Distillation: Gorefield only takes 3 forms in V1 - normal Garfield, a mottled blob-esque form, and a titanic abomination with spindly limbs and a grotesque tongue - as opposed to the several he took in Lumpy Touch's animation. V2 adds in his bloated mantis-esque form, his flying head from the end of Lumpy's series, a few forms from the drawings of Jars Drawing and Omega Black Art, the appearance of Whiskers from Lasagna Boy, and an original cartoonier form, but still lacks a handful of forms from these artists.
  • Adaptational Badass: While we get to see Lyman escape from the psychiatric hospital and power up, vowing to put everything right in Garfield Gameboy'd, in the Principal Week you get to fight him, and he appears to be even stronger.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Funny enough, Arlene in Laughter And Cries is the only version of Arlene ever present in the mod, and she plays a much bigger role as a playable character rather than simply being Garfield's love interest.
  • Adaptational Villainy:
    • Lyman's appearance in Jon's basement in Garfield's Scary Scavenger Hunt is an Ambiguous Situation with no indication of who did it. In "Captive", it turns out Jon himself put him there for unknown reasons, but his crazed, threatening behavior make it clear said reasons are malicious. However, this version of Jon appears to be different from the one in the mod's main story, who is on your side.
    • As if canon Nermal wasn’t enough of a dick, Word of God has it that this mod’s version of Nermal murdered everyone in the underworld, prompting Godfield to deal with him in Cataclysm.
  • And Now for Someone Completely Different: "Breaking Cat" isn't related to Garfield in any way, instead being based on Lumpy Touch's Breaking Bad Gameboy'd. The closest it gets is Walter's monster form resembling a giant cat.
  • Animalistic Abomination: Gorefield as usual, alongside the similar Cryfield.
  • Art Shift: The entirety of Alter Cat is this, with the UI being based largely on the original source material. Even Boyfriend's design is changed to be more cartoony.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever:
    • Gorefield's final form during "Hi Jon", is absolutely HUGE, dwarfing Boyfriend and a large portion of Jon's house in size.
    • In both of his forms, ULTRA Gorefield towers over Boyfriend considering the perspective between the two for the week's songs having ULTRA Gorefield be much further away than Boyfriend.
    • During the last stretch of "Cataclysm", Godfield is absolutely massive in size, with him taking up most of the screen after crucifying Nermal. This is also evident at the start of the final stretch, where he grows to the point of not even fitting on his half of the screen.
  • Belly Mouth: In Balls of Yarn, Gorefield's left pose reveals a mouth that appears to have grown straight from his stomach.
  • Composite Character: The first beast that appears in Lasagna Boy, which is normally an Expy of Gorefield named Whiskers, is changed to just be another form of Gorefield in this mod.
  • Crucial Cross: During "Cataclysm", Gorefield, Jon (as well as his Lasagna Boy counterpart), Sansfield and Boyfriend all have a cross on their heads, their eyes, and/or their torsos.
  • Demoted to Extra: There are 2 instances of this.
  • Doomed by Canon: No matter how hard you try, Godfield still ends up killing Nermal by the end of Cataclysm.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: Although Gorefield's vocals change for all of his songs, they're all pretty deep, first using Garfield's usual deep voice in "Curious Cat", then a raspier and distorted version of his first voice in "Metamorphosis", and then some sort of distorted gurgle in "Hi Jon"note .
  • Fat Bastard: A few of Gorefield's forms exaggerate Garfield's weight to the point of being giant blobs of flesh.
  • Final Boss: Godfield serves as the final opponent of the main story, seeking to "cleanse [Nermal's] sins" for killing everyone in the underworld.
  • High-Altitude Battle: The entirety of "Terror in the Heights", with Boyfriend fighting Gorefield's final form in the main week while being carried by him, as both ascend higher into the sky.
  • Imposter Forgot One Detail: Gorefield takes the form of Garfield in "Curious Cat" damn near perfectly, but one detail gives him away - his pupils disappear in his up pose.
  • Meaningful Release Date: The mod's first version was released on a Tuesday (March 15, 2022) despite everything being complete by the previous day. It wouldn't make sense for a Garfield-based mod to release on a Monday, after all.
  • Must Have Nicotine: Played for Laughs in Cat Patella, where an angry Jon asks "Where is my pipe?" the moment he shows up.
  • Oh, Crap!: Boyfriend's reaction to Gorefield transforming into a monster, is beeping with a subtitle that says "shit".
  • Original Generation: Cryfield is an original variant of Gorefield created by BitfoxOriginal, one of the mod's composers.
  • Promoted to Playable: In V1, Jon merely takes Girlfriend's place in the background and detonates the bomb midway through "Hi Jon". In V2, meanwhile, he's the playable character in "The Great Punishment" and one of the two in "Balls of Yarn". He’s even playable at some point in Cataclysm.
  • Scare Chord: One plays during "Terror in the Heights"'s last seconds as Boyfriend almost falls off of Gorefield's grasp, but manages to hold on for long enough to finish the song.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The loading screen before "Hi Jon" shows Jon looking with a tired expression at the screen with the text "The end is drawing near" or "El fin se acerca", which is a reference to a Latin American meme showing Chris Pratt saying exactly that.
    • The instrumental of "Hi Jon" is based heavily on Clock Tower's "Don't Cry Jennifer", the song featured many times in Lumpy Touch's Garfield Gameboy'd.
    • Cryfield's 2 phases seem to directly reference Wednesday's Infidelity's Mickey Mouse, albeit reaching insanity in 2 phases as opposed to WI Mickey's 3.
  • Sudden Game Interface: At the last segment of Alter Cat, definitely weird things begin happening. Gorefield suddenly gains a huge grin (similar to the grin he has in Balls of Yarn) before transforming into his Metamorphosis form, and it all culminates into a Jump Scare at the very end of the song.
  • Taking You with Me: Jon attempts this halfway through "Hi Jon", activating an explosive in the house to try and kill Gorefield, but this only transforms him into an even more grotesque form and damages an eye. Thankfully, as seen in the final cutscene, Jon managed to survive the bomb as well.
  • Villainous Friendship: Gorefield seems to be friends with Cartoon Cat, as they both sing together in Balls of Yarn.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • As revealed by BitfoxOriginal, Gorefield would have gotten a second version of "Curious Cat" with completely untuned voiceover vocals entitled "Alter Cat", which ended up getting scrapped due to time constraints. Bitfox did state he would finish the song, though. Subverted as of the mini-update on April 6, 2024, as not only has the song now been completed, it was added to the mod as a secret song.
    • Originally, Lasagna Boy Jon's second song would have been an entirely different song named after the game of his origin. This was scrapped in favor of "Health Inspection" for reasons still unknown.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Should he lose in Cataclysm, Cryfield and Nocturnal Meow, Nermal gets murdered in many ways. In Cataclysm he gets killed by Godfield even when you win.
