  • Acid-Trip Dimension: The backgrounds become this when battling 3D opponents in "Polygonized", "Interdimensional", "Cheating", "Unfairness", "Kabunga", and "Exploitation", often not even having any visible ground to stand on.
  • Ambiguously Human: Bambi looks and acts human enough, save for his Insane Troll Logic, but Word of God says that he came into existence out of nowhere, has a religion dedicated to him, has the ability to teleport at willnote , and is composed of water, helium, a CS:GO microphone, and radiation.
  • Art Evolution: Both Dave and Bambi have gone through quite a bit of this over the mod's many updates. As of the 2.5 update, Dave has more dynamic poses and realistically-proportioned limbs compared to older versions, and Bambi started off as a sloppily-drawn blob with no hands or overalls before becoming what he is now.
  • Art Shift: "Polygonized", "Interdimensional", "Cheating", "Unfairness", "Kabunga", and "Exploitation" have the respective opponents rendered as 3D models in Paint 3D, rather than 2D drawings.
  • Cerebus Retcon: The jokes made about Bambi's unnatural powers and attributes from Word of God come to a head when you find the Terminal, which reveals that Bambi is a forgotten god that doesn't know his own strength.
  • Cerebus Syndrome: 3.0 introduces the Terminal, which is able to give lore related to the game's different characters that's taken significantly more seriously than the rest of the mod. Additionally, using it to give admin privileges to Expunged leads to it taking over the game and challenging you in its much more threatening true form.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Expunged has Bambi's vocal mannerisms, resulting in a lot of Intentional Engrish for Funny and Word-Salad Humor in the middle of his songs, but said songs involve a ridiculous amount of Interface Screw and spam to the point of being a considerable choice as one of the hardest songs modded into FNF.
  • Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: In the 2.5 version, Girlfriend isn't fazed at all by Expunged's threats in "Cheating" and "Unfairness", even directly taunting it about having lost already in the latter's cutscene.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: The mod has gone through a number of versions, and each one changes a lot about the mod's content. The greatest example of this is Bambi; in the first version of the mod he was drawn noticeably sloppier, didn't have any dialogue, and didn't even have his own songs, instead using tracks ripped straight from Clone Hero ("Supernovae" and "Glitch", which have been updated to more standard arrangements in 3.0).
  • Expy Coexistence:
    • Bambi, a character who was originally made as a skin for Boyfriend, faces off against the real deal throughout the mod.
    • Similarly, Dave was originally a skin over Baldi and First Prize, and the original Baldi can be found on Bambi's barn roof.
  • Forced Transformation: Dave accidentally becomes 3D in "Polygonized", requiring Boyfriend to defeat him and turn him back before the whole world follows suit.
  • Gilligan Cut: At the beginning of Bambi's week, Girlfriend says that she hopes she and Boyfriend don't run into a midget farmer with a short temper and the presumption they were stealing corn. Immediately in the next line...
    Bambi: Who goes there??
  • Handicapped Badass: Dave has his legs blown off from a science accident and sits in a wheelchair at all times, but he's completely capable of providing an insane challenge in a rap battle.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Bambi antagonizes Boyfriend and Girlfriend because he believes they're trying to steal his corn. This is despite him having stolen the entire cornfield from Zardy, judging by the sign in the background.
  • Insane Troll Logic: Bambi doesn't seem to have any logic but this. His week happens because he somehow gets the idea that Boyfriend and Girlfriend want to steal his corn, despite being told otherwise many times (including from Dave, a trusted friend), and believes a fitting punishment for such a thing is breaking his own phone.
  • Interface Screw:
    • "Polygonized" and "Glitch" will sometimes cause the screen to start rapidly shaking and changing colors.
    • "Cheating" has the arrows individually moving around left and right constantly, with the only way to tell the difference between yours and Expunged's being the clay-like texture of Expunged's notes. Every arrow, save for the down one, also appears in the wrong lane.
      • "Unfairness" takes this up to eleven, having the arrows instead circling around the center of the screen. On top of this, every arrow also has a different scroll speed, forcing the player to individually time each one.
      • "Exploitation" cranks it up even further by constantly throwing the arrows around the screen in every possible way, as well as jumbling the UI into incomprehensible nonsense. Near the end, Expunged even breaks out of the game's window, leaving it floating around the user's desktop.
  • Intentional Engrish for Funny: Bambi and Expunged speak entirely in this.
  • Lampshade Hanging: Girlfriend has plenty of snark ready for Bambi's Insane Troll Logic in Week 2. Notably, when Bambi says he plans to go to bed after "Maze", she remarks that the yelling he does in his vocals must get tiring after 6 minutes.
  • Marathon Level: Week 3's only song, "Splitathon", is the first FNF song to reach the 10-minute mark, and the whole time you'll be dealing with the mod's trademark note spam.
    • A sequel song exists in the form of "Splitathon 2", which clocks in at 45 minutes, making it the longest song ever released by a fair margin. It never ended up being added in the 3.0 update, however, specifically due to this length.
  • Medium Blending: "Polygonized" has Dave suddenly turning 3D against his will, making him appear as if he was created out of basic polygons and had a face slapped on. "Cheating" and "Unfairness" have Expunged, who appears as a 3D Bambi.
  • Never My Fault: Before "Maze", Bambi smashes his own phone, throws it at Boyfriend... and proceeds to reprimand him and Girlfriend for (somehow) getting him in trouble.
  • Nice Guy: Dave doesn't once antagonize Boyfriend and Girlfriend intentionally, simply challenging them to a friendly rap battle and even setting up a picnic for them during Bambi's week. Even when he turns 3D in "Polygonized", it isn't intentional on his part and he practically begs Boyfriend to revert him back ASAP.
  • No Fair Cheating: Trying to press 7 to access the debug menu in "Supernovae" or "Glitch" will instead force you to play "Cheating", an ultra-hard song with copious Interface Screw to boot, and will have Expunged call the player out for trying to cheat. Pressing 7 again in "Cheating" will then make you play "Unfairness", quite possibly one of the hardest songs in modding history. Trying to go any further will send you to the terminal, as of version 3.0.
  • Patter Song: Almost every song in the mod, especially those sung by Bambi/Expunged.
  • Precision F-Strike: Expunged loudly says "Dick!" near the end of "Cheating."
  • Retcon: With the release of an official map of Dave's town, Bambi living in Brazil and having the ability to teleport to Dave's house was retconned, as Bambi's farm is seen just above Dave's house.
  • Stylistic Suck:
    • The 3D models used in "Polygonized", "Interdimensional", "Cheating", "Unfairness", "Kabunga", and "Exploitation" are rather rudimentarily created with basic polygons and a lack of proper texturing, as they are deliberately meant to be off-putting and wrong due to the circumstances of their use.
    • Vs. Dave Thanksgiving was an unbeatable joke song that was created to be bad on purpose.
    • The unused song "Secret" just consists of a torrent of notes flooding Bambi's side, as his vocals quickly devolve into Sensory Abuse. The song ends right afterwards.
  • Turns Red: Done accidentally by Dave when, after "Insanity", he turns 3D against his will and needs Boyfriend to defeat him in another song before the entire world does so as well.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Bambi constantly breaks phones given to him by Dave for incredibly petty reasons. In the mod itself, he breaks one that was given to him 3 hours ago because Boyfriend beat him in a rap battle. Fortunately, Word of God confirms that they're not actually phones, but bricks painted to look like them, but still.
  • Unishment: Bambi threatens before "Corn Theft" that if Boyfriend wins the song, he'll break his phone. No, not Boyfriend's phone, his own phone. He actually does it if you do proceed to beat him, too. This is Lampshaded by Girlfriend in the 3.0 update:
"If that's what you consider a punishment you're a bit messed up in the head."
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Dave and Bambi seem to have this relationship according to Word of God.
  • Voice Clip Song: Bambi's (and Expunged's) vocals are chopped up from a Discord call Moldy was in where former friend Marcello had a fit of anger that culminated in smashing his phone, with no additional tuning applied (for the most part).
  • Wham Line: A gameplay-related one. In "Unfairness," the bottom left corner of the screen includes this additional text:
Ghost Tapping is forced off! FUCK YOU!
