Heroes come in many colors! note

Originally developed in Roblox before switching gears to Unity, Vibrant Venture is an in-production 2D Platform Game for the PC developed by Pattrigue and his team Semag Games, drawing influence from staples of the genre such as Super Mario Bros., Kirby, Rayman and Donkey Kong Country.

The game follows a Four-Man Band of adventurers as they traverse their island home in pursuit of the maniacal Violastro, who seeks to disrupt the fabric of reality through the use of the Power Crystals.

Updates on the game can be found here.

This game provides examples of:

  • Abandoned Mine: Half of 1-1 takes place in a seemingly abandoned mine.
  • Air-Dashing: One of Azura's primary moves, being able to propel herself with her water powers.
  • Always Accurate Attack: Azura's Homing Bubble attack always hits when activated.
  • Big Bad: Violastro, a corrupt intergalactic entertainer looking to give reality a hostile makeover for his own amusement.
  • Bottomless Pits: Frequent obstacles throughout the game, instantly killing the player.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: In 3-2, there is a sign that tells the player to control the height of the Rocket Platforms by pressing up or down, which is signed by Violastro.
  • Captain Ersatz: Violastro bears a passing resemblance to Count Bleck; a top-hat wearing interdimensional villain who wields power over black holes, and is the main antagonist of the game. Though he seems to be far more malicious than the latter.
  • Collision Damage: Almost every enemy in the game can damage you by walking into you.
  • Creepy Centipedes: Centeels and Pokepreys resemble large centipedes.
  • Dark Is Evil: When Violastro invades Cornucopia Town at the very start of the game, the sky turns a dark purple.
  • Defeat Equals Explosion: When a boss is defeated, they explode in a rather over-exaggerated fashion, with screen shake, beams of light and the screen fades to white.
  • Diving Kick: Cardinal's secondary ability.
  • Double Jump: Cardinal's primary ability.
  • Eye Beams: The first boss, Madeline, can charge up a laser beam from one of her eyes.
  • Goomba Stomp: True to genre form, this is the Vibrants' primary means of defense.
  • Ground Pound: Banana's secondary ability.
  • Hit Points: For as long as they have a Fairy shielding them, the Vibrants can take just about anything that is thrown at them.
  • Forest of Perpetual Autumn: The game's first world, aptly named Forever Fall Forest.
  • Fungus Humongous: Spewshrooms are about half the size of the human characters. Violastro also turns Madeline extremely large.
  • Nerd Glasses: Azura wears big, nerdy glasses.
  • Nintendo Hard: Lack of hit points, no difficulty options, progressively hazardous level design, the works.
  • One-Hit-Point Wonder: The player dies in one hit, unless they collect a Fairy.
  • Pre-Explosion Glow: When they are defeated, bosses emit beams of light before blowing up.
  • Rank Inflation: The maximum grade available on every level is S+, which requires getting at least 2500 points.
  • Robot Me: Violastro Bot, who is also the boss of World 2, acts as this to Violastro.
  • Score Screen: After completing a level, you are shown your time, gem count, challenge coin count, overall score and grade.
  • Secret Level: There is a secret level on the World 1 map.
  • Technicolor Magic: Violastro is clearly some sort of otherworldly being, being represented throughout the game by the colour purple.
  • The Klutz: Azura describes herself as being viewed as one by the residents of Cornucopia Town, which isn't far off - the first time we see her, she tries (and fails miserably) to stop Violastro from stealing the Power Crystals, only to fall right on her face.
  • Wall Jump: Banana's primary ability. He can wall jump up to four times in a row.
