Universe Shrinker is an Idle Game in HTML 5 by Cook1egames released in 2020.

The game involves you using Matter Condensers to make the universe smaller, until it's 1 Planck length (roughly 1.6e-35 m). Once you shrink the Universe, you gain the ability to shrink the Multiverse, then the Megaverse, etc., with each verse type letting you purchase upgrades for every one that's been shrunk down. Can you reach 1.42e82 Theta Energy?

The game can be played here.

This game provides examples of:

  • A.I.-Generated Economy: After performing a Heat Death for the first time, you can buy automations for purchasing shrinkers, Rho upgrades, and Universe Layer upgrades.
  • Apocalypse How: Your goal is to shrink down universes and increasingly higher levels of universes down into the size of a planck length. It starts out at universal, becomes multiversal after that, and finally turns into omniversal shrinking. Eventually, you cause the heat death of every atom in all beyond-omniversal reality.
  • Cap: All but one of the upgrades that are limited can be bought up to 10 times. Rho Synergy can be bought up to 5 times. Passive Shrinking can be bought up to 100 times.
  • Crutch Character: The "Passive Shrinking" upgradenote  increases linearly, and it also increases the cost of other Theta Upgrades at a very fast rate. It's very useful when you can first obtain it and helps save time, but once you can obtain enough of the "buy multiple Universes at one go" upgrade, which doubles in efficiency each time, you would only need one point in Passive Shrinking after a respec.
  • End-Game Results Screen: Once you win, the game shows how long it took you to beat it. You're encouraged to compare it with others.
  • Export Save: You can click "Export" to show the 6KB+ save file which can be copied and pasted into a text file or imported from the text field. Also, the previous save isn't replaced when you click "Export".
  • Game-Breaking Bug: The "Bugfixed" edition ironically has a bug that makes Omniverses nearly impossible to obtain due to lower level areas having an infinity overflow glitch, giving you far less universe resources to work with and hence far less shrink upgrades.
  • Low-Level Advantage: Buying Theta Upgrades raises the price of other Theta Upgrades. Passive Shrinking in particular can raise the cost of other ones drastically, making it usually better to keep it at a low level for a while.
  • The Multiverse: The second-weakest type of universe is the multiverse, while much more massive than a universe, it's still far weaker than anything else after that.
  • New Game Plus: After shrinking 1024 Omniverses, you can cause Heat Death to start from the beginning in exchange for Theta Energy which can be spent on special upgrades.
  • Shrink Ray: The game revolves around Matter Condensers which are used to shrink down our massive universe into sizes below the microscopic.
  • Silliness Switch: The "Beautiful (truly)" theme, perfect for fans of bright purple and Comic Sans.
  • Skill Point Reset: You can reset all the Theta Energy upgrades bought, though that forces you to do a Heat Death reset without getting the resource used for them. This is needed to beat the game, as one has to respec theta upgrades in an optimal fashion in order to gain Theta quickly.
