Sportaldislexicartaphobia (Video Game)
Maybe don't look at her

If you're reading this, it means she has already trapped you. Read carefully if you want to escape:
1. Find all the objects listed on the wall and avoid the rest.
2. Do it before your light runs out.
3. Watch for her eyes. Never make eye contact.

Good luck
—The mysterious note at the start of the game

Sportaldislexicartaphobia is a short Horror/Hidden Object Game, made in a week by Juicy Beast for the Scream Jam 2025. It was released on 17 October, 2025 and is available for free on it's itch.io page here.

You've been trapped in a mysterious house, with your only companions a couple of paintings of the same girl. You must find every object required to escape. And make sure not to look any of the paintings in the eye - or you'll stay forever.

Sportaldislexicartaphobia contains examples of:

  • Controllable Helplessness: If you've held eye contact with one of the paintings for too long or if your flashlight is out of power You Are Already Dead, no matter what you do.
  • Darkness Equals Death: Your only light source after the note goes up in flames is a flashlight with limited batteries. If you take too long and/or make eye contact with the girls too often, it will run out of battery, leaving you to get snatched up.
  • Deadly Euphemism: If you get killed by the painting girl, the game over screen ominously tells you that you "belong to her now..."
  • Disproportionate Retribution: The girl depicted in the paintings will leave said paintings and murder you if you hold eye contact with her long enough.
  • Hero of Another Story: Whoever left you the note explaining the game's rules either managed to escape the painting girl before or was at least kind enough to leave instructions so her next victim could.
  • Hidden Object Game: In order to escape, you need to find a bunch of items, all of which are hidden somewhere in the paintings. The same paintings that contain hostile entities that will drain your power and ultimately kill you if you look them in the eye for too long.
  • Meaningful Name: "Sportaldislexicartaphobia" is the fear of visual art, including paintings. Needless to say with these paintings, that fear is very justified.
  • Minimalist Cast: It's only you and the paintings. And maybe whoever left you the note explaining the rules.
  • Nothing Is Scarier: The game never explains who or what exactly the painting girl is and why she trapped you, specifically.
  • Slasher Smile: If you broke rule 3 and looked a painted girl in the eye for too long, she gives a triumphant, bone-chilling smile before immediately ending the object hunt and killing you.
  • The End... Or Is It?: Once you manage to find all the objects on the list, the game simply informs you that you've managed to escape the painting girl... for now.
