Created by Steam user Cuerzor, Reverie - Touhou Combinations (formerly known as Cuerzor's Touhou Items) is a Game Mod for The Binding of Isaac: Repentance based on the Touhou Project series. The mod includes multiple items related to the characters of Touhou, Satori, Eika, and Seija as playable characters, new bosses, and a secret ending.

This mod brings the following tropes:

  • Art Attacker: Keiki's Carving Tools. The item will spawn haniwa soldiers of different varieties from destroyed rocks, skulls, pots, etc, that'll attack enemies until they perish.
  • Artifact of Doom: Sukuna's Miracle Mallet, a one time use item that re-rolls all item pedestals into the highest quality items... at the cost of gaining three broken hearts each that reduce Isaac's maximum health. Go ahead and use it on 4+ pedestals...
  • Artificial Limbs: Kasen's Ethereal Arm. It removes Isaac's ability to hold pocket items, but grants the ability to transform said items into collectibles of any item up to three times.
  • Assist Character: Based on the All-Too-Dangerous Backup Dancers of Okina Matara, Satono and Mai as the Dancer Servants familiars. They each fire projectiles opposite of Isaac's, with enemies dropping one of two kinds of hearts depending on who killed them; Satono spawning a red heart and Mai spawning a soul heart.
    • Similarly on the familiar list are the Three Fairies of Light, Sunny, Luna and Star, as the Sunny Fairy, Lunar Fairy and Star Fairy familiars, respectively. The Fairies remain dormant until you enter a specific type of room (Boss Room for Sunny, Secret Room, Super Secret Room or Ultra Secret Room for Luna, and Treasure Room or Planetarium for Star) or use a certain Tarot card (The Sun for Sunny, The Moon for Luna, and The Star for Star). When they awaken, they provide Isaac with a type of resource relevant to the room at hand: Luna provides two bombs, Star provides 1 key, and Sunny provides 3 red hearts. Once awakened, they attack using tears of a specific type (Sunny shoots Fire Mind tears, Luna shoots Bouncing tears, and Star shoots homing tears). If you get lucky enough to get all three Light Fairies, they all awaken immediately and their damage is tripled.
  • Atomic Superpower: Based on Utsuho Reiuji, Technology 666. Akin to Technology 0.5, it fires a small yellow Brimstone beam alongside Isaac's tears, powerful enough to ignore boss armor and cause explosions from killed enemies that also fire more Brimstone lasers.
  • Bullet Hell: This is the genre of the main Touhou Project series after all. Particularly, the secret Superbosses Doremy and the Reverie Music, introducing the Touhou experience to Isaac in ways that make fellow Superbosses Hush, Mother, Mega Satan, and Delirium blush.
  • Challenge Run:
    • The mod has a function called Lunatic Mode (named after the highest difficulty setting in Touhou games) which nerfs some of the most powerful items (i.e. Wild Fury only affects damage, the Fan of the Dead can only stockpile 20 lives, only 6 runes can be inserted into the Rune Sword, etc).
    • A player can also impose this upon themselves with the Sake of Forgotten item, which spawns a sake bottle after defeating a floor's boss. Touching it will allow the player to restart the floor for a chance at more items… at the cost of gaining the Curse of the Labyrinth, Lost, and Maze, and also turning your character into The Lost for the floor.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Two passive items not found by natural means serve no obvious purpose, but they are required to unlock the Superbosses and secrets.
    • The Dream Soul, found and obtained in Basement I during the Ascent sequence, unlocks the boss fight with Doremy upon reaching Home, replacing Dogma and The Beast for that run.
    • The Reverie Music note, found in the first floor Treasure Room after hearing a minimum of five music tracks from the OST, requires up to fifteen music to be collected. Meeting the requirements spawns a music box in the Mom's Heart room, which leads into a battle with the Reverie Music; facsimiles of the Touhou cast represented by Clef musical symbols.
  • Detachment Combat: Not Isaac in this case, but Sekibanki's head, an orbital item that fires Eye Beams.
  • Flying Broomstick: Marisa's Broom, which, predictably, grants Isaac flight. It also grants Tears, Damage and Speed up for every Mushroom item Isaac has.
  • Foul Fox: The Fox in a Tube offers many possible benefits for the player... but chances are, those benefits are often offset by the bad that later comes with taking the offers. Free credit card to avoid paying with hearts for the Devil Deal? Third phase Satan will come stomping down come the next floor... with Damage Scaling. Boss Challenge room that normally requires you to be at one heart open for free? Prepare to deal with a room filled with golden troll bombs that explode constantly.
"How could I lie to you?"
  • Goodbye, Cruel World!: Isaac's last will in TBoI's Game Over screen manifests as a one-time active item, where the current run's Isaac leaves his items — as in, every pickup and item pedestal in the room he's in — to the next run's Isaac.
  • Hyper-Destructive Bouncing Ball: Reimu's Yin-Yang Orb, which is an active item that throws the orb which starts randomly bouncing around the room, dealing heavy damage to any enemy it hits, similarly to how it behaved in Highly Responsive to Prayers. Mercifully, unlike in HRtP, the orb cannot damage Isaac.
  • Karakasa: The Scaring Umbrella item, originating from Kogasa, am umbrella Youkai subject to Moe Anthropomorphism. The girl herself is fought as a boss in the Downpour floors.
  • Magical Camera: The Tengu Camera, Aya's item, serves as an active with a passive flash reticle. Any enemy or projectile caught within the reticle upon use will result in stun and neutralization respectively. Not only that, you're scored based on how many enemies/projectiles are caught in the flash, and depending on said score, you get gifted an item drop or item pedestals. Small scores naturally give fairly cheap drops such as bombs and keys, but higher scores result in more useful — and in certain cases, rare and/or exclusive — items; a maxed out score yielding Death Certificate'.
  • Me's a Crowd: When Reverie Music mimics Flandre, it uses her "Four of a Kind" spell card to make three additional copies of itself and shoot a persistent, rotating cross of Brimstone lasers, much like Mom's Heart.
  • Musical Assassin: The Prismriver Sisters' instruments appear as active items to create musical sound-waves that do the following within range:
    • Lunasa's Melancholic Violin: Boosts Isaac's tear-rate while also slowing enemies.
    • Merlin's Maniac Trumpet: Boosts Isaac's damage while also damaging enemies.
    • Lyrica's Illusionary Piano: No Sells projectiles while boosting Isaac's speed.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Destruction, a collectible active item based on Flandre and her weapon in hand. The name itself is based on her ability to destroy anything at will, while its in-game effect of spawning a meteor that crashes into where Isaac was recently standing is based on an event where Flandre destroyed a meteor that was going to crash into the Scarlet Devil Mansion.
    • Scaring Umbrella, a passive item based on Kogasa's signature umbrella, has the capabilities to fake out the player with a variety of effects that serve as a harmless way to mess with the player. Kogasa is known for her ability/hobby of surprising people to feed on the fear, which, while generally ineffective in-universe, she proves to be surprisingly effective out-of-universe. note
  • Oni: The Oni Horn item, in addition to a damage boost, causes shockwaves of increasing magnitude whenever Isaac takes damage in one room, with the third and final outcome being a room encompassing shock-wave followed by a single room Mama Mega! explosion.
  • Shout-Out: While generally a Touhou-themed mod, it does feature items from other gamesnote .
    • The Leaf Shield is... well, the Leaf Shield from Mega Man 2. Its item description is even the Item Get! text from the game.
[W] GET EQUIPPED WITH LEAF SHIELD
    • Hunger is basically the Minecraft hunger system incorporated into Isaac, being represented by a large drumstick on an item pedestal.
  • Smart Bomb: Using bombs in the Doremy Sweet fight has them, at the cost of ten apiece, create a Mama Mega!-like explosion that'll clear all the bullets on screen, akin to bombs in the standard Touhou Project Shoot Em Ups.
  • Spread Shot: Reisen's Lunatic Gun gives Isaac the ability to shoot a chargeable cone-shaped cluster of tears independent of his standard attack.
  • Third Eye: The Psyche Eye passive item, which can create an area of effect pulse that will instantly turn enemies into allies. As a bonus, it removes Curse of the Lost, Blind, and Unknown. Satori naturally has this by default.
  • Time Stands Still: Sakuya's Maid Suit gifts the ability to stop time and spawn multiple knife projectile with the pocket item card The World.
  • Troll: Kogasa's Scaring Umbrella item. It generally gives the benefit of protecting from overhead projectiles and raining tears all over the room upon attacking, but it also deliberately attempts to spook the player themselves via the following fake-outs on occasion, punctuated by the Karakasa laughing.
    • Flashes static and after-images, akin to what happens in the Void on occasion.
    • The room Isaac's in will suddenly be filled with explosions everywhere that, mercifully, does nothing at all.
    • Isaac suddenly dying, complete with soul flying away. Though, the illusion is ruined if the player is still moving as the death animation plays out in full.
    • The popup text for TMTrainernote  will flash onscreen, complete with Isaac holding it in an Item Get! pose.
  • Thunder Drum: Raiko's titular drum is a familiar that bounces around the room, not doing much until it gets hit, upon which it then unleashes multiple shockwaves and electric lasers from all angles.
  • Wizard Needs Food Badly: The Hunger item adds a Minecraft-like hunger meter to Isaac. Having full hunger recovers your lost red hearts over time until it's reduced past a certain point, and letting it reach zero will slowly kill Isaac. Moving around and passively recovering health reduces the meter, while eating food (whether it be the passive food items, pills, or the food scraps that now randomly drop from killed enemies) fills it.
