One Final Scream is an RPG Maker 2000 game created around Fall 2005. The game's development began with the simple question, "Why does the average hero CARE?" it soon spiraled out of control into having a somewhat convoluted, yet enjoyable, plot. Nonetheless, it is at the very least, a good game, though the beginning parts are plagued by some typos and bad design. One Final Scream is an example of the following tropes:
- Affectionate Parody: Becomes more serious later, but manages to keep a... unique sense of humor.
- After Boss Recovery: Combine with Suspicious Video Game Generosity, Sequential Boss and That One Boss for great effect.
- And Now for Someone Completely Different: Kabir and Jack take the reins of leader when Zid goes AWOL.
- Bad Future: What the heroes learn is the source of the demonic invasion. Doubles as a slightly Anvilicious Green Aesop.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Stan, the humble Help Man, who Lampshades his tutorial speeches occasionally, is actually Roy.
- Downer Ending: Kabir is cut down by the Big Bad, Hilda may or may not be alive, Maria is Driven to Suicide over the guilt of (indirectly) killing Hilda, Zid becomes The Dragon, and Jen's been dead for over half the game. Notably averted by Fele'duf returning to a life of drunken revelry, Jack/Sonja getting married and closing the time portals, Petra becoming a Crystal Dragon Jesus, and, if she's alive, Hilda and Maria bonding over their tales of their mutually dead boyfriend.
- Evil Pays Better: Played straight with Sardis, after all his cousin is God, and can make him infinite sex slaves/sandwich makers.
- Future Me Scares Me: The Dragon is actually the main character sent forward in time and subjected to More Than Mind Control.
- Game-Breaking Bug: Cannot divide by bad checksum. *game crashes*
- Guide Dang It!: Have fun getting that MK-II Tank by happening upon the one tile of overworld map that leads to the entrance of the cave it's in, something that isn't even vaguely hinted at by the game! Even then, if Hilda is dead and you don't have a certain near-endgame item, the game becomes Unwinnable.
- Guns Are Worthless: Completely averted—the two characters that can use guns border on Game Breakers.
- Hand Wave: Happens several times regarding Time Travel and the cast's abilities.
- Help Yourself in the Future: Played with, as Zid must oppose The Dragon and stay alive, or else a Time Paradox will occur. This puts said Dragon in a bit of a bind, and justifies the liberal sprinkling of Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?
- Heroic BSoD: Zid after Mercy Killing his girlfriend.
- Improbable Weapon User: Roy uses drumsticks and Jew-Jew the Crimefighting Chicken uses SPIKED KNUCKLES. A chicken.
- Joke Item: A literal "Glitch" item, used for a Fetch Quest. At low levels, the same item can be used in combat for a Lethal Joke Item.
- Katanas Are Just Better: Interestingly, very few swords for the ninja are actually katanas.
- Luck Stat: The elusive critical hit chance stat.
- Never the Selves Shall Meet: Thoroughly, thoroughly averted. The selves meet numerous times, sometimes without realizing it.
- Nintendo Hard: As seen in a short Let's Play here —on The Jassi-Fricka-Nation's posts.
- One of These Doors Is Not Like the Other: Played with in The Evil Temple. Five identical ladders lead to the next floor. FOUR OF THEM WILL KILL YOU.
- Point of No Return: Mostly averted with the heroes' eventual ability to move through space and time, but some locations can never be returned to.
- Screw Destiny: The rallying cry of the protagonists, after The Reveal that God Is Evil.
- Secret Characters: Roy, martial artist Herbert, Jew-Jew the Crimefighting Chicken and the MK-II Tank.
- Sidequest: Quite a few, notably the Revive Hilda quest, Glitch collection quest, Save Roy quest, Kabir's Trials, and the Bonus Bosses.
- Superpowered Evil Side: Dark Maria.
